What the Rag Nerf Taught Us

I'm more upset with the ISO dump rather than the HP dump (i think i put 5000 HP into him).0

People will still spend money. Patience isn't a virtue everyone possesses. Besides, I would have NEVER maxed out Thor if I didn't buy the powers.0
-
Meh. I spent 3750 HP on Rags and I'd do it again knowing the nerf was coming. It was a fun week of hitting everything in the face with a hammer over and over.0

Agreed, I literally iso dumped him to 90 yesterday/today.0 -
It's funny that a f2p game has gone out of it's way to make players less likely to spend money with large overnerfs rather than minor nerfs to some characters and minor buffs to others. Shifting players to wanting to level other characters is definitely what they should be trying to do, but do it in a more subtle way.0

The rag nerf taught us the balance team is made up of manatees pushing around colored balls0

hahaha. thanks for the family guy/south park reference. i'm' in the same boat as you. i did ask for a refund and shall see if they honor it. But I would suggest spending your time elsewhere if you are just as upset.0 -

This. I have been saying it for a month now..but ragnarok made the threshold too high for a good character. He was the gold standard, but he was so high up that unless they made the character ridiculous no new characters would beat him. Like icarus he flew too close to the Sun and now lays a smoldering mangled heap among the pavement of 2**. Hell, just make him a 4**** already lol.
They should have nerfed him a long while ago. Waiting just brings fear. It's like a break up. There is no "good time" and the longer you let it go on the more it hurts when it ends. We will move on, character wise, but the trust is lost for many at this point probably.
That said, they probably need new whales as with rag the whales feasted on using him and once they maxed him they basucally became free players mostly.0 -
Don't bandwagon top tiers, rather play characters you like.
(And if my prediction is right, investing in 4-stars will eventually pay off.)0 -

This. So much this. Play how you want, not how you are told.0 -

That's loser talk.0 -
I think players expect minor rebalancing, but not major changes in mechanics and feel of a character. I wasn't playing when Loki was nerfed, but my recollection is that they totally changed his mechanic. Rag's change in mechanic is a distinct feel change. What's interesting about the character is his speed -- the ability to do something with just 2 AP. If they'd decided to go to even less damage (although the damage wasn't all that exciting in the first place) and lower the green generation to 1 at level 1, going up to 3 at level 5, that would probably have kept the feel of the character while lowering his power. Making his red as costly as Thor's means he's arguably less useful than Thor (other than having a higher level cap), considering Thor has three great powers (even if he lacks the direct board control), and Thor's red is more potent in terms of raw damage at the same number of AP.0

I don't have good enough a Mags to know, but Spidey should be fine. While he can dominate a match, he needs 12 Ap or so to get a stun lock rolling. More importantly, he slows your game right down, so your games take longer to complete and you get less points.
Rags didn't have these issues. He was almost a guaranteed win, 6AP was normally enough to kill one opposing character and he made your wins faster. And he had a truckload of HP. There was no down side to using him.0 -
Never mind what the Ragnarok nerf teaches us, it should teach the developers to handle these sorts of things far more tactfully. I've gotten a few months of good service out of the guy, so I'm not going to cry myself to sleep tonight, but those who have invested in the last few days and hours have been royally ****. They've paid in good faith for a product, and ended up with something that was not advertised to them originally.
How hard is it to list upcoming character updates, or even debate them with the community? Sure, they get the final say, but at least treat the paying customer with a modicum of respect.0 -

Something Marvel Heroes does, they let the community know who they are working on updates on. Other characters will get minor fixes, but whenever a big change is coming to a character, the community usually knows ahead of time. A simple response to one of the Ragnarok nerfs threads saying "We hear you, and we are discussing adjusting the character" so that people knew a nerf was possibly coming. That said, only maybe 10% of the game pop actually reads the forums (at best), so I can see why they'd not give it a high priority. But it would be a positive move for the company to have more of a forum presence.0

Noticed there wasn't a quirky explanation for the depower, like they've done previously. Guess they didn't want to rub too much salt in the wounds lol0

Best most thought out answer. I hope they learn from this.0 -
they destroyed loki way worse than rags. although loki was probably even more OP than rags lol
basically the lack of faith is that 1) something this unbalanced existed in the first place and 2) the response is to just nerf it into oblivion, like loki and rags, instead of just bringing it in line0 -
