I knew this would happen as I pointed out in mohio's thread earlier. My condolences.

Haha I was just thinking about that post. Didn't affect me as I chose slice 4 for eight, was done with Shield sim, and my alliance was top 10, but sucks for those on the cusp. Hopefully, D3 will do something other than a bagman token.

Sorry, I give these guys loads of kudo's, but to have an event that lasts three plus weeks, an event they have done before, and have the final few hours (when they know everyone pushes and swap happens) go **** up is really very daft.
Have you never had something go a way that you hadn't planned? Even if you were confident it would work? If they thought there was a chance it would screw up the way it did, do you think they would have done it?

As much as they have done events before, it's not like a store not having the staff on hand during a predictable rush. The program behaved in a faulty way. There was likely no chance they could know about it before we did. Maybe you know more about software creation and publishing than I do, and know that they should have predicted this. It just seems like things got screwed up. It doesn't seem unreasonable to let the majority of the staff, you know, wake up, before raking them over the coals. At the very least, see if there is any compensation before getting uppity.

  • I think we clearly go about responding to things going wrong in a very different way. Which is fine. I must say though, your world reminds me of the one at the start of the Lego Movie. Will leave it at that.

My sandwich does suck though. And I will let them know next time I go in. Was really looking forward to it as well icon_e_sad.gif
  • Well there goes my conspiracy theory about how D3 doesn't want you getting the progression rewards unless you use several shields for the final days. . . thought they got mad that I was cheap and cut off the sim icon_e_smile.gif

Black Mystique would have been nice but probably not worth getting too riled up over that. However if I got screwed out of a Blue 4hor - I'd be pretty pissed . . .

Any resolution would be appreciated by all
  • I'm rather surprised. I thought I would wake up to the forums on fire with rage! icon_twisted.gif
But instead there are just 4 pages of mostly mild annoyance. Are expectations so low that now that this debacle is simply met with apathy?

I think things are tempered by the fact we had acknowledgement of the issue right away instead of guessing.

I'm more annoyed about the 525-600 HP I spent hopping at the top to come up 86 points short of the cover. I'm not apoplectic or anything, but it's another head shaker. I mean no one thought to work through the end of season timing? You can be as generous and understanding as you want, and I generally keep pretty good perspective, but that's just objectively poor work.
  • For all you demanding compensation: How do you know your alliance was going to even make top 100? Or you will make top 50? Or whatever it is that you feel you missed out on. There were literally thousands of other players that were aiming to do the same thing. Sure, you were planning on jamming out some extra matches in those last three hours (as was I), but you didn't get the time to do it. Well you're in the same boat as everybody else. Everyone who was in your position was going to do the same thing, which means there is no guarantee that you would have climbed above everyone else who also planned on climbing. You likely got the same reward you would have gotten.

D3 will still probably give out something to compensate it's players, as it usually does when there is an unscheduled server downtime, or what have you. I wouldn't expect to get a Thoress cover, but you will probably see some Iso, HP or Heroic tokens.

I highly doubt there were thousands who hadnt started shield (as I hadnt) yet were planning on pumping out ~1200 points the way I managed the last 4 or 5 seasons. Add in that I tallied almost 500 points in Eight is Enough, and would have done more if it had counted...so I was out ~1.5-2k points for the season.

That said, season rewards are **** other than the 4* so i wasnt terribly upset.

The worse part was getting thrown into a bracket where the top guys were all over 1500. The end times are fracturing the player base too much. I think they may need to drop the bracket sizes (and adjust rewards accordingly) to eliminate some of the brackets staying open so long.

The game has over 1 million downloads. I'm sure that thousands of people were jamming out the last rewards at the end of the season. Like you, I have been using the shield versus to pump out 1200+ at the end of the last ~4 seasons. I'm pretty sure that there have been others who do this as well. It's not exactly a secret strategy, and those alliances pushing to make the top 100 are all going to be doing the exact same thing.

I literally finished up Eight is Enough, put up my shield and then as going to start on the Shield versus. Well I didn't get to do that last part due to the bug, but I'm not going to demand rewards that I might not have even gotten anyway.

I think there should be reasonable limits on compensation.

    Top 101-125 alliances get 4Thor?

If D3 want to be generous for christmas why not, let's say...
    ... Top 101- 202 icon_question.gif

    icon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_redface.gificon_mrgreen.gif

More seriously I understand the frustration for those who missed (or could reallistically have missed icon_e_biggrin.gif ) a nice reward and I wish you a nice gesture from D3.
This bug had no significant impact on me but I was confused to see the season ended sooner than I expected. Thanks to this thread I know that the problem came from D3 and not me! icon_e_wink.gif

Didn't have too much impact on me, though I was hoping to hit Shield Sim at the end to get to the last progression award for the season.

As long as people are willing to fork over cash, the developers have no reason to work for the players. This isn't the first time they have failed, and contined support for the broken system will only garner similar results.

Man, this totally screws up everything. I mean, there's usually the end-of-season player swap so people can get their ranks up, along with the final pushes in Shield Simulator. Basically all the scores are just meaningless @_@

Hmm, good point, but the damping factor seems very generous. Even now we're stuck at page 4. I'm amazed by the calmness of it all. Perhaps it's simply calm before everything goes non-linear when they announce compensation. It just seems too quiet!

It might demonstrate what a big impact a little communication has, but yes, I think overall people are patiently sitting to see what the fix will be. Although, I'd say the longer it takes, the more vocal people will be.
Also, it will depend if the resolution is to everyone's satisfaction, or at least presented logically and objectively.

With 10 days left in the season my team was 110th in overall; people started going after PVP events with a little more determination.
With 72 hours to go my team was ranked 97th overall. This was the point where fear set in and we started exploring mercenary swaps to shore up our position.

When I started reaching out on the mercenary thread looking for a potential swap I was turned back by more than one player because we were too close to slipping out of the top 100. So we told everyone to start hitting simulator; our commanders to start pushing points into simulator Friday instead of waiting for the final push. And we kept pouring in our simulator points Saturday and Sunday. Over those 72 hours we moved up 40 positions and finished 57th overall (and managed to pull it off without swaps). We could have waited till the final hours to put up our simulator points - I'm glad we didn't...

Do I want to think we could have rallied at the end to squeeze into the top 50: sure. (it would have taken quite a bit, but anything is possible)
Do I likewise have to admit that we could have fallen 30+ positions in the final hours: yes. (I've seen us do it)

If something is offered as a make-good for this gaffe I will gladly accept it (because: "free stuff"), but until it is offered you'll see me standing quietly in the line of people who feel like this was a "bank error in their favor".

    *EDITED* for spelling - repeatedly

Since they've already acknowledged it, I think most people are waiting to see what the response is before lighting the torches and grabbing their pitchforks.

Cue all of a sudden and somehow, every single player in MPQ was impossibly about to get 4* Thor from season, Yellow X-Force and 4 Gamoras from PVP, Mystique from Shield 2400 progression and approximately 2000 hp from different sources, but they all got screwed by the end times skip and they expect full compensation. icon_rolleyes.gif
The "lost" time was more than enough for anyone who wanted to to put 1000 points on the board in Shield Sim, so yes, just about everyone posting here has a very credible argument that they COULD HAVE gotten a Mystique and 4hor and got screwed.
