He put up this score without nearly the same number of friends to draw on while being sniped mercilessly by the xmen.
Bravo Harada!
Polarcow, I understand and respect your loyalty you give to your alliance mate Harada, but Harada has done more than his fair share of snipes and I have a feeling he gets what he dishes out.
I don't really have a long list of people I will snipe, but Harada at one time made my list.
I consider sniping a bad investment in a HP to score ratio.
For instance, there have been many times, where I have q'd you up Polarcow and saved your queue for later instead of sniping you
When I hit you later, I would get more points while bouncing off your shield.
Harada frequently tries to snipe our point leaders. In the past, when I have been a high scorer, there was many times Harada would bounce off my shields right after I have shielded.
I have been in brackets with him, where I have watched his shielding and un-shielding in a very small time period. This frequently coincides with a point leader un-shielding.
Anyway, good luck next season.
Congrats to 1Whoknocks for doing something most thought impossible.
Jesus you are salty0 -
I'm guessing it's the new 4* cover availability, because nothing else really makes sense. I'm in slice 3, trying to put in my token 700 or so, and I can't remember the last time I got attacked this much. Usually this slice is dead; that's why I chose it.0

Think they all showed up at 5...during the last 24 hours or so. Bless them.0 -

Okay someone needs to explain to me what exactly is sniping? I mean usually I just go through the nodes and see someone I can beat and go for them like, when my shield expires. Is that sniping? Isn't that the point of the PVP?0 -

I probably have 80% of them in my bracket. Spread from 1300 down to 960 at 16th. Been hit more than I can fathom this event, lucky if i get two matches in during a hop.
That said, most of my bracket has been shielded most of the day, so yeah, pickin's are a little slim in slice 4.0 -
xequalsy wrote:Didn't particularly want to create a new topic for this, so I'm bumping this topic instead, but are 3k+ scores (more) commonplace now? I looked at the top 10 of my bracket and the top 3 are all close to 4k
. So I quickly looked at the members of the top few alliances, and there are multiple 3k+ scores there too. I mean 4k isn't even impossible with the time left in my slice- good luck I guess for those going for the 4k. Did I just manage to catch the PvP people are attempting the 4k or something?
(Will edit in a picture of my bracket after the event ends, I assume most high scorers know which slice and bracket I'm talking about, but I don't particularly want to hurt these people's chances at 4k if revealing their names might make people try to snipe them)
EDIT:Congrats Freezze! (Screenie taken with <1min left in event)
I'm fairly sure that there were 4 or 5 people who all reached 4k, but this was the only one in my bracket. Also dunno who was first to breach 4k, I assume the X-Men will know.
Freezze was indeed the first to reach 4K. It was a coordinated effort, and the most fun I've ever had playing this game. Huge congrats to him, and also Tomuser, Predetah, The Comedian, and Bedansch -- all of whom breached 4K.0 -

TO this point I think you're arguing a tactile item vs a personal, physical interaction. I get the idea that someone is chiding the monies spent on a non-refundable, non-exchangeable, wanton achievement that doesn't achieve any in-game goals.
It'd be like counting the cracks in the sidewalks in GTA IV DLC but without so much as an achievement given or quest rewarded. Yeah. You can do it. Sure. The game makes it possible.
It's just an extremely nuanced goal. That's all. The guy spent his money; his prerogative. That's fine and good. I was just trying to parse out the argument.0 -

When you are in the same bracket, you can see who is shielded or not. You get them targeted in one round, then wait until you see in the leaderboard that they have unshielded to hop and hit them then.0 -

Viral Core from The Defenders is over 5k in category 5 right now. Is this the first time someone broke 5k in a single pvp?0

Are the people getting over 5000 points spending more than 2500 HP to get there? I can't help but think they have to be. I realize they're not doing it because it's a rational transaction for the cover at first, but still.0

Ummm... Yes it costs substantially more than 2500 HP to do it.
I was late to the party and I'm "only" at 4456. I bought a stark salary yesterday when I ran out of hp and I'm at 14685 remaining but I've been hitting 50 pt targets the whole way. Those who got the points initially would have had to spend much more.0 -
I will never figure out the appeal to drop heaps of real cash just to get a high score in a single PVP match. If your ego needs some type of temperary moment of pride from achaiving a soon forgotten accomplishment in the cyber world there are cheaper ways to do it, and games to do it on where the accomplishment had more significance, and gets more publicity. To each thier own...regardless, certainly a lot of effort, so koodus for that. I wouldn't call it an accomplishment, it just takes your 2 maxed out 4 * and a pile of time and money.0

I just don't understand why they didn't wait for the last PvP before the shield change. When someone hits 7k next time, no one's going to remember any of this.0

Maybe it's just because I know pretty much everyone who's scored 2k then 3k then 4k then 5k but I have yet to see anyone who's done it and then posted their score or bragged about their score or any of that. If there's any ego feeding going on it's the peanut gallery on Facebook and the forums making comments/accusations/judgements that's feeding the egos.
Scoring 2k for the first time back with Gipsy_danger and No_Mames was one of the most fun moments I've had playing this game. It was stressful and tense and difficult and rewarding to do it. When I did it I don't recall going around bragging to anyone that I had done it... It was something that I was doing with friends and frankly not anyone else's concern. When Pr and I spent all day going for 2500 (Sham did as well but did it on his own which was even more impressive) was also fun.
As someone else stated... "Aren't all forms of entertainment a waste of time and money?"
Now I'm not speaking to you specifically because you don't seem to be judging anyone... But for those that are.... When you spend the bulk of your salary on charity and spend all your free time feeding the homeless and taking care of stray animals maybe then you can judge people for how I spend my time and money. Fairly sure that all of us "Entertainment junkies" are wasting our time and money on one form of entertainment or another until we kick the bucketEven the 30 seconds it takes to post on facebook/forums telling someone they're a jerk for scoring a bunch of points is a waste of time is it not?

No I'm not judging, I'm all for money wasting on entertainment, just dropping my opinion. IMO I'd rather dump heaps of time and real cash into a consul or PC game if I'm trying to get recognition for a tough accomplishment. One where your name would live out for a while, and the feat would be recognized by a larger group, and where the feat just can't be bought by some one else for more money. It just seems empty to me, and I'm a fairly hardcore gamer that has done some ego feeding with my own online video game accomplishments. My point is that it just seems to be misplaced, to me....and I still stand by that it's not a feat. It's just a lot of time and money to grind somehting out. A feat is lime soloing a dungeon raid that's many levels ahead, or a 35 - 1 run on a FPS, ect. Feats require skill or using your charecter beyound it's ability. With a Lvl 270 Xforce and 270 Lady Thor and maxed out feature charecter anyone can take a couple days off work, set the alarm, and dump a bunch of money into getting a high score.
If you're doing it for fun and to see if you can do it, well then it's obviously money well spent since you had fun, and I'm not knocking the accomplishment.
And I see your point on the "ego feeding", it was just an assumption on my part as stated since I don't understand why some one would go through the trouble...but hey, if it's your bag, and fun, then kudoos. I don't see anyone crashing into my living room and cutting me down for spending long hours running quests and errands for a set armour peice.
cheers.0 -
^ Actually I did just buy myself an Xbox One in anticipation of backing off this game. Not intending on quitting but the days of me throwing hundreds of dollars/hours at this game are OVER0
