how 2 shield hop now?!

Hey fellas
im questioning which teams now are good for shield hop.
Before the sentry nerf it was him and hood i choose.
but now with the massiv nerf is doubtfull that i still can shield hop with them.
they arent so fast like before.
mine XF is just 444 on lvl 165. So hes no choice.
have plenty of 3* maxed on 166lvl. 12 plus dr doom and ragnarok
but which teams could i use instead of SenHood?!
pls think also about my teams i have 2 face.
most the time i think it will be hood+XF some SenHood will appear as well maybe.
and dont forget that u dobt get so much points for the fights like before. Or ita just me who dont finds any fight worth to play. Mostly 12 to 25 points.
The 40+ fights are very rare...
Im f2p so i dont waste my hp for the +3 ap for all colors.
appreciate your help

The answer can still be Sentry-Hood. You just can't fit 3 matches in any more without incredible luck. If it's a bad board, you're down to 1 per hop.

In other words, he's just like everyone else now.

I tried some fights with them and its bad. Really bad.
12 or lets say 9 green ap to collect. And still u need the sacrifice to hit hard.
and if you fight against hood its quiet impossible so cast WR and sacrifice. And even if the bombs detonate the damage isnt enough to kill the hole team.
so you have to use super nova as well.
that means after evry fight 2 or 3 healthpacks. ****
this is no solution for me.
then i quit shield hop and have to wait till my XF is maxed.
    thanks d3
  • Sorry, you just need to play normal games now. Shield Hopping, as it was defined by Sentry+Hood, no longer exists.
  • Shield-hopping isn't quite a dead tactic, but it's going to be less effective, riskier, and rarer.*

    * Except for people willing to spend gobs of ISO and HP on boosts, who will use X-Force and Deadpool and gain an even bigger relative advantage because they're the only ones doing it.

If you're worried about the time it takes to collect the AP, and not being able to kill the whole team, then XForce isn't going to be the answer either.

Shield-hopping with Sentry now is what shield-hopping with everyone else was/is. It's going to take time and you're not getting more than 1-2 matches in. Brave new world.

So what you mean is that im actually in a situation where my team is a dead weight without the maxed XF?!?
have 2 wait till i have my own maxed XF..
this is rubbish. Reall thought they develop all those new chars to switch and get different teams.
but there was SenHood and now it will be XHood all will play with.
    poor transitioning player.
f2p is busted with all these changes.
you max those you need to get a high score and then they get nerfed.
    man makes me tired...

Maybe XF isnt so quick like SenHood was BUT u dont need any ap boosts.
it looks scarier than any other teams
and if u have a maxed cmags its even scarier.
I really hate this nerf to sentry.
  • Patch Hulk with +3 Green is fast enough for a double hop and usually only Hulk needs healthpacks.

Sure the PatcHulk bombs work well. I really like this. But if ur very unlucky hulk takes to much damage or even gets killed.
And yes.. sometimes its even faster than SenHood
    appreciate. Thx

Without boosts, XForce is 3 green matches and 4 black matches to get going.
Without boosts, Sentry is 3 yellow matches and 4 green matches to get going.

Sentry still hits the whole team really hard.
XForce hits one character really hard and might fuel enough for a 2nd depending on the situation.

Again, if the question is "who can shield hop the way pre-nerf Sentry did?" The answer is no one. They slowed Sentry so he is like everyone else in terms of speed. They really didn't do a ton to his damage, other than putting the CD tiles at risk for an extra turn.

But imo even IF u collect all the ap you need for sentrys WR and sacrifice its still questionable that those bombs will kill the whole team.
and if you just collect his colors you cant use intimidatiob.
with XF you are able to kill the essential or the worst enemy.
if you play against XHood you go first on XF. If hes down the games close to over.
    Just hood cant beat you.
and the guest char sometimes isnt maxed. Often the one on lvl60.

And yes. The question is still HOW to shield hop. And with all your comments i think im done with shield hop. Or less shield hop. Maybe just for those chars you need. Although im not a player for the score. I play for the rewards

The solution going forward may be to switch teams up each fight rather than going with the same team for each hop and burning a lot of healthpacks. I rolled the dice with a 3 hop this morning and started with Sentry/Hood. The battle took longer and they suffered far more damage than they would have previously so I switched to XForce/C.Mags. Rather than using up multiple health packs I just healed XForce and used Xforce/Lthor for the final hop. The hop took about 3 minutes longer than it would have prior to the patch when I would have just gone with Sentry/Hood on all 3 hops.

Granted switching teams each battle requires a strong roster, so it's definitely not a solution for everyone. Throwing in Hulk/Patch for those that don't have a maxed xforce may work well for them.

Never thought about different teams while shield hop. Thanks for that.
maybe this is the beat for me right now.
but are 3 fights with this method still possible?
cause the fights take longer than SenHood pre-nerf.
    Do you used boosts?

I have to admit, 3 hops made me nervous at this time as Sentry/Hood were my security blanket. Logic says that if people are hopping less now then you're less likely to get hit or retaliated against right? Well, that's what I'll keep telling myself anyway. icon_e_wink.gif
When I shield hop, I do use the the boosts that I can buy with ISO. +3 AP of 2 colors, +3 AP of 2 other colors, then 30%-50% damage of 2 colors, depending on which team I plan to use.

Do you face any team with this?
and do you look for fights 40+?
or do you just take 3 quick fights and shield again?
cause i think its difficult to find fights with 40+ points.

I always look for fights that are 40+, but I will take one and sometimes 2 in the mid 30 if it's an easier team and hit them first since they are least likely to retaliate against me. As long as I get 100+ out of the hop then I'm good with it. I try to avoid hulk based teams now that Sentry is nerfed, xforce/deadpool, or teams with multiple maxed 4 stars, but everything else is fair game. Granted I'm not one that hops to 1400+ each PvP. Last season I would go for 1100+ and would hop to 1300+ if it was a cover I really wanted or it kept me in the top 5, so far this season my hops are mostly just to 1000+ until I figure out the best strategy that won't cost me ISO or HP out the wazzu. All of the brackets I've been in this season top 5 has been 1400+, and that's not worth the cost for me to hop for covers that I don't need.
  • Wow, 30-40 point battles? Since the end time changes I have barely had any hit 25, with most under 20!

Just curious, how have your brackets been? Top 5 are all over 1400 and top 10 over 1200 in mine with the time slots I've picked, so there are still a lot of people out there worth 40+ each battle. I usually don't see them until I'm over 850 points though.
  • Mine have been Ok until this one (death bracket). In fairness I have seen a few 30's I think in other events, but this event they have all been under 25. Most under 20. Crazy.
