Do you see more new players playing this game? I'm a new player been playing a week or so, bought some packs and love this game but I wonder with the setup PvP and battling waaaay higher opponents is going to cause the new players to not invest time in this game and give up.

They need to even the match search to similar lvl opponents or give iso to players after a loss to try and level up covers.

Any thoughts vets? D3

  • Apparently they have more and more players playing the game.

When they start losing players or start earning less money, they will probably listen to us when it comes to Iso/Packs/Covers/Prices...

Until then, you'll just have to be patient.
  • if i wasa brand new player, this game in it's current state would hold my attention for 5 days....maximum. The fact that ive beeb here from the jump and can say ahead of the curb \ keep pace w D3s insanely accelerted character release schedule is the only reason thatthis game doesnt drive me totally bonkers. if u are a new player, i would recommend another game.

    good luck.

Agreed.. I love this game and bought a few $20 packs, got good covers the hard part is leveling up abilities and the PvP match making similar levels for a more fair battle. I win one or two matches then they clump me against people with waaaaay stronger covers.

I am hooked on this game. I love the marvel universe and if they find some sort of balance for new players to catch up a little it would help. I'm in for the long haul on this great game

Honestly, MPQ is pretty forgiving to the new crowd.

    My advice to a new player;
    • Play lots of PvE. You'll get a lot of ISO, which becomes a rarity later in your playing cycle, so every little bit counts. You can score 2* covers from Progression Rewards, which is always good. You can earn yourself some Boosts and Team-Ups, which you can use in PvP to win a few matches here and there you really shouldn't.
    • Play Lightning Rounds out when you can. These are the best way to get ISO, by far. If you start them at the very beginning, you'll get a fair few Seed Teams (i.e. super easy) and you can get a pretty decent amount of points from them. Progression Rewards are easy to attain. Potential to place for a decent token is pretty good.
    • Learn to effectively grind PvPs. You're not going to place in PvP for awhile (and you shouldn't be able to), but, the good news is, PvP is still a great score of covers and income for you --- you just have to learn how. 2* covers drop randomly from PvP fights and they drop at a pretty decent rate (I covered three 2* just from random drops basically alone). You're going to hit a point, probably pretty low (around 300 I would guess, if not lower) that you can't win anymore. Pick a node and lose. The great thing about low level characters is they recover really fast, and by losing your MMR ("Match Making Rating") goes down and you'll start seeing lower level nodes again.
    • Play the Shield Simulator. This is a great way to get lower level covers really early. You get a cover every 50 points until 300 and another cover every 100 points after that (other than a few Hero Point prizes, but those are invaluable! You want those.), even granted a few 2* at 1600/1700/1800/2000/2100/2200 points and two 3* at the very top at 2300/2400. Chances are you won't be able to get 2* covers at first, but solidifying your 1* roster is the first step.
    • Last but not least, join a public Alliance. It doesn't seem like much, but the bonus ISO is fantastic, and if your Alliance does well enough, you might even get free covers at the end of an event. If you find yourself outperforming your Alliance mates as a whole, go looking for a higher ranked one. Always keep moving forward.
  • I would suggest not buying packs. Just keep playing the game, earn some covers here and there. If you feel the need buy a couple specific covers that you need to finish off a character. I simply refuse to buy covers. I don't understand the point of playing the game if your going to buy covers and ISO.

The thing about a new player is it takes time to get to where you can win a PVP battle. You will have to be happy and aim for top 50 for a while, then top 25, then top 10... That is what frustrates me about new players sometimes, they want to complain about not being able to be at the top (Not that you were complaining, I was just venting!!). Well, I'm 360+ days in, I've earned a little something right? If we started on top then what would be the point?

It's a great game, addictive, enjoy it!
  • Unless people have everyone they'll always complain about fighting the guy stronger than they are because you're apparently supposed to always fight people weaker than you.

Of course even if you have everyone that usually won't stop people from complaining about having to fight people who are exactly as strong as you.

The only really oppressive character to fight for a newbie is The Hood, but you're not going to see him anytime soon on a regular basis. You're not going to see the max covered X Force or Sentry either as a newbie. Maybe that max level IM40 or GSBW looks pretty uber to you, but they're not nearly as strong as their level would suggest.

2* Dakens, 2* Wolverines, and Bulleyes can be pretty rough for the new player, and I'm sure he'll see plenty of those, but yeah, you're pretty on point. Though, GSBW is still pretty uber, since she can OHKO your whole team as a newbie with a single (high cost) move icon_lol.gif

Great advice and I have done a lot of what you mentioned on here before I read this. I have joined alliance, played pve and done lightning rounds. I have placed around #115 or better in PvP events so far

I have one lvl 70 IW some lvl 40 covers.. Before that I was grinding my 2* covers. I've bought two $20 packs and roster upgrades spots. I love marvel universe and this game. I'm not crying to be on top I understand the process to play to succeed. But when the match making after couple wins versus you against lvl 50-100 opponents is Lil unfair and causes you to buy or want to buy pack. Lil balancing for new players some how would help. I play pve PvP lightning etc.. Love this game and understand the process
  • With the new time slice feature you should always be able to get about 10 seed teams no matter when you started (but don't pick a time slice and quit, you'd lose your seed teams) which gives you some free shots at getting 2* covers. Pay close attention to the abilities of your opponents (you can review them at the boost screen). Matchmaking will put you against level 100ish range 3*s which are about functionally equivalent of a level 60 2* (the +40 level boost in PvE for 2* pretty much exactly matches 3* on ability damage/match damage but you'll have a HP deficit), and there's a very large difference between a 3/3/3 3* or a 5/1/2 3* even if they've very similar max level. Depending on how strong the first ability is, the 5/1/2 can be much stronger or much weaker than the 3/3/3. You don't have to know every character by heart. Just read the ability and if it sounds pretty crazy then it's probably not something you want to mess with, and 3* at level 100 range should not have abilities that sound crazy normally because most 3* at that range don't have 5 covers.

Good advice. I look at HP and lvl and ability power before I fight.. I try to go to similar HP lvls cuz I figure they will out last me in a fight

Currently #106 on shield simulator.. Not bad for a rook icon_e_wink.gif
  • I dont understand the crying from noobs. If you're not willing to spend a little money to accelerate the begining, I can understand the frustration...but don't complain about free stuff.

40 Days in, I have 4 94 lvl 2** and am hanging just fine. Focus on PVE to build roster and get what you can from PVP. The scaling is fine. Read guides on here, put in the work.

  • you will put into the vet bracket after some point and you will feel the 166 wall . You will get **** by PVP and a chain bad luck in heroic token etc

their grouping formula is junk and you will get beat very soon

    anyway enjoy your time there.

if you understand game business you will know " more and more" is nearly impossible for a 1 year game with such level of I.T and designer support.

for long MMR exp . The company will give free when the game is dead. Yes their reaction is very slow. MPq is drooping not dead yet
  • Although revenue figures are not released publicly the estimation from various sites that keeps track of F2Ps have MPQ as steadily increasing in revenue which almost certainly implies a growing database. Now everyone can lie about these things, but since everyone can lie about revenue figures that's why the relative scale still matters. Nobody besides WoW would dare to lie about having 10 million subs in MMORPG, so even if WoW's sub is all lies, they either still have a lot more people than anyone else or they're just really, really gutsy at lying.

That said I'm interested in why there seems to be relatively little content looking at the estimation for MPQ's revenue (I think it's pretty close to $10 million an year), though money have a tendency to vanish into the abyss when it comes to gaming development.
