  • There is nothing such as too much slots. Only the expensive pricing.

55 characters now available, I have 56 slots (two OBW and an extra Jugg for 1* events). Had to drop 1* Hawkeye the other day in order to add two characters the same day.

I've mentioned over here (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=15005) that the HP needs to be leveled off after a certain point. Not only are characters being added every other week, twice in the last month two characters (with the newest 4*) were added at the same time. It would seem incredibly rare for anyone to have two open slots for characters.

Awhile back Ice mentioned how they want "roster diversity", and it is showing with some of the Heroics - only a couple of 3*'s buffed, various 2*'s buffed. If they want this diversity, they need to level off the HP cost of roster slots so folks can actually afford one of each character.

New slots for characters now cost more than half of a 3* cover price, with the character addition rate it will be 3/4's of the price soon. I don't blame anyone for saving their HP for covers rather than slots at that crazy price. I don't know if I would have started playing originally with this many characters, transition would be impossible since you couldn't both keep a good 2* roster and the 3* covers you picked up.
  • Bought the HP for a 40-slot roster two sales ago(pre-anniversary). Have been content...until the flippin' game gave me a greenflag.png cover for X-Fixed!

    My build? 5 greenflag.png 2 blackflag.png 2 yellowflag.png

    Boy, I miss the days when star.pngstar.pngstar.png & star.pngstar.pngstar.pngstar.png s sold for imcoin.png .....

Anyway, 40 is my limit, until we get 20(or more!) X-Persons in the game. Then....?

    Yep. Made up my mind.

40-slot roster, with 1 additional slot added each time an X-person character releases.

So I'll go to 41 as soon as D3 makes good on that Gambit they promised... icon_evil.gif

A day shy of 400 days played as a FTP, and I have 37 slots, and I think that is too many. And I must say I am shocked at what others players claim they have.

  • I have all of the 3 stars and all 4 stars except Elektra. I have 50 slots with 5 or 6 of them empty. Not too long ago I took out the trash. I only kept venom and juggs for 1 stars, hawkeye, ares, wolvie, OBW for 2 stars. Everyone else was trashed. Never looked back. I will do the same to the three stars once the four star game matures. One day I just realized there were so many characters that were never ever ever used. Why pay to keep them?
  • Day 196 40 characters. I have all 4 star characters and most of the 3stars (missing doom, rags, doc ock). I feel like it just depend on how many characters you will use and when tht becomes more than you can buy in roster slots, then it is too much. I feel like there will never be a "too many roster slots" for me but its all in perspective

I'm up to 81 slots. Once you get a maxed out roster going, you can afford to not spend any HP on shields and net ~300HP per PvP. If you don't spend HP on shields or covers (which you really don't need to with XF / LadyThor obsoleting everyone), then roster slots are pretty much the only thing that is left to spend HP on, so...
  • 56, but I've got double covers of my favorite teams.

That's what I'll be doing going forward. I have 60 slots open - one of everything and two OBW's. Every slot after this costs 800 hp, I"ll be tossing out one and two stars for quite some time and saving that HP I guess. If they just made slots a flat 500 HP or so, I'd still be buying more: it's fun to have all the characters for the rare Balance of Power or Combined Arms tournaments.

I currently have 115 roster slots. To veiw my roster, search private alliance Heros-R-Us, ign IamTheDanger. I have 1 of each character that I'm leveling, a second of most characters that I'm leaving at base level, but cover maxing. A few slots for TU to send to alliance mates. Bought covers for the first copy of each character, but with the doubles I'm just adding covers as I get them from events/tokens, (which is taking a loooong time) . icon_e_wink.gif

How many is too many? Well, that depends on the individual. For me, it's 3 copies of each character, (all 3 copies of each character cover maxed with 1 copy of each level maxed, 1 copy at base level, and 1 copy leveled half way, but probably won't ever happen), and a 4th copy of my favorites. After i have that many slots, I'll be content icon_e_biggrin.gif . Of course, getting a new character every other week might make that a little difficult. Just a bit. icon_lol.gif

It would not be too much if each additional slots was not 950 HP.

950hp for a slot! I thought it was already ridiculous at 450!?

As for the topic, I'm at day 100 and have 33 slots, I've spent a little bit of real cash, but probably will rely on winning hp for any future slots.
  • 441 days here... icon_mrgreen.gif
    61 slots... icon_rolleyes.gif
I was lucky enough to buy first of them just for iso, looong time ago, when the game was just starting.
2 covers have doubled, new one costs 800 HP.
As long as I buy some HP in discounts, I was able to buy them, but hontestly, 500 should be max, if they really require to pay for them... but I think they should be for free as collecting new characters and improving them is the main motivation of the game... icon_e_sad.gif

  • 400+ days and only 40 slots. As far as I'm concerned that's more then enough but I don't keep any 1 or 2 star cards.
  • 407 days login and 55 characters slots.
  • Day 85ish, 40 slots, duplicate 2* Stormneto + lvl 1 Juggs duplicate.

Not really interested in getting more anytime soon, just want to cover what I have.

    Holy thread necro!

Well, currently there are 59 characters, I believe. That's 7 1*, 14 2*, 32(!) 3*, and 6 4*. So unless you like duplicates (and there is potentially a case to be made for one or two), 59 is really the most you need if you're a completist. (Of course, if "completist" means "at least 3 of each" then you're sort of in a whole other ballpark.)

Except you don't really need that many, because you're not going to keep losers like Yelena and Bagman around because they're useless and never, ever required. You could easily lose the bottom 5 and never worry about it (Yelena, Bagman, Bullseye, Venom, and arguably 1* Hawkeye). So 54 is probably all you "need" to get excellent coverage for events. And even that is a tad high, because very few 2*s are actually required, either.

Of course, that's true today. When this thread was originally written, the answer to the same equation was something more like 40. Two more months from now, the answer may be more like 70.
