Not a long complete stuff, just core info based on my experience and perspective (F2P), hope might help.

__________ QUICK ROSTER BUILDING TIPS (F2P) __________
icon_arrow.gif First thing first, don't waste ISO on any 3* when they're not fully covered yet. 3* is not playable until fully covered, 120+ level, and have the right skill built.
Save ur ISO n stick with ur best 2* until ur 3* have 11 covers at least.
Esp hood : not playable until his blue @5 imo
icon_arrow.gif Pay attention on skill color mix, don't mix (or even build) chars duo sharing the same color skill, ie : patch+pun, ht+pun, ht+psy, ht+carol, psy+pun, IM40+Steve, etc. Choose, whether it's 166 psylocke or 166 punisher. Again preserve ur ISO for best 3*.
icon_arrow.gif IMO best 3* that considerably "playable" n worth the iso is : icon_sentry.png - icon_thor.png - icon_daken.png - icon_wolverine.png - icon_magneto.png - icon_hood.png - icon_blackpanther.png - icon_deadpool.png - icon_hulk.png
Since building 3* from 40 to 166 cost 172.764 ISO, so let's reduce it to 2 so u just need 345.528 ISO and playable for featured PVP.
Then best duo from above+considering skill mix could be : icon_daken.pnghealthpack.pngicon_thor.png or icon_daken.pnghealthpack.pngicon_wolverine.png or icon_wolverine.pnghealthpack.pngicon_blackpanther.png or icon_wolverine.pnghealthpack.pngicon_deadpool.png or icon_magneto.pnghealthpack.pngicon_hood.png or icon_thor.pnghealthpack.pngicon_hood.png or icon_thor.pnghealthpack.pngicon_deadpool.png or icon_blackpanther.pnghealthpack.pngicon_deadpool.png or icon_hulk.pnghealthpack.pngicon_daken.png or icon_hulk.pnghealthpack.pngicon_deadpool.png last of course icon_sentry.pnghealthpack.pngicon_hood.png or icon_sentry.pnghealthpack.pngicon_daken.png
Getting 800 on pvp with any of the above duo would be easy.
icon_arrow.gif No offense but tbh don't waste your ISO to these 3* : IM40,GSBW,DareDevil,Loki,Mo.Storm,Spidey,Beast . why? mainly because 2* duo like OBW+thor/ares can beat them (esp IM40 or GSBW). So what's the point pouring 345.528 ISO that have poor defense even against 2*?
icon_arrow.gif Best 2* for PVP : OBW, thor, ares, daken, MN.Mags, C.Storm
Duo on featured PVP : OBW+thor/ares, daken/wolvie, MN.Mags/c.storm
Best for PVE : OBW, MN.Mags, C.Storm
icon_arrow.gif imo OBW is still the best 2* in game esp 3/5/5, reasons :
- with 2 purple match, able to steal 3AP (except purple)
- on PVE her blue effective against goons cd tiles
- on PVP offense she's still viable against several 3* like : IM40,GSBW,Spidey
- on PVP defense : OBW+thor/c.mags/sentry/pun/psy kinda scary imo (the **** AI cascades factor)
icon_arrow.gif again, hold on with ur 2*, stockpile ur ISO, patiently build the right 3*, have fun with it..eventually u'll get there.

__________ QUICK PVE TIPS __________
icon_arrow.gif Join late 8-10 hours before sub end, do 2 rounds :
> 1st round : clear all nodes once (or twice on essential nodes)
> 2nd round : @2 last hour before sub ends, grind all nodes till ur spent
(special formula given by vairelome icon_e_wink.gif )
icon_arrow.gif Optional strategy to get maximum score:
(1) Sub based PVE :
> Join early
> Move until essential nodes open
> Keep the rest nodes closed
> GGG = Grind 3x for each essential nodes (7hr refresh) ->
> repeat GGG until last hours
> @ last 2hr, repeat GGG before open other nodes
> tested, works in "The Hunt", "DPvsMPQ", "Heroic"
(2). Keep 3-4 of the last nodes closed, reasons :
> this way numbers circulates only on open nodes, especially essentials.
> last nodes usually hard + scalling makes it sometimes not possible to grind = losing lot of points.
> This strategy not working on "Unstable ISO-8" coz the nodes is auto-open.
icon_arrow.gif Best PVE char (common) :
1. Falcon : with 2 boost of blue, his redwing will eat all goons cd tiles.
2. MN.Mags+C.Storm : p.shift aim vertical cascades > collect 22 blue for double windstorm (repeat), l.strike > m.flux when stunned.
3. OBW : blue to delay goons cd tiles, purple to steal.

__________ QUICK PVP TIPS __________
icon_arrow.gif Always tanking to lower mmr before starting pvp. There's 2 method but faster is by purposely losing dozens of team in shield simulator.
icon_arrow.gif Join late 4-7 hours before endtime to prevent hellbracket with top allies.
icon_arrow.gif best duo to climb (3*) : 5/5/3 daken + 5/3/5 w.patch. To save ur best char for serious opponents and reduce healthpack use.
icon_arrow.gif best char with low featured char (60) : -/-/5 Hulk + any green char/daken. Have bigger chance of winning in def due to his anger.
icon_arrow.gif alt nuke duo (3*) :
> obw+thor : recon > t.strike > CTS
> BP+patch : b.plan > b.rage > rage of panther
> DP+hood : slice all enemy once > whales
> XF+Hood/C.Mags/c.daken/shehulk/DP
icon_arrow.gif best duo to hophophop : 3/5/5 spongebob + 3/5/5 hood. boost 3 Y/R+ 3 G/B, WR > wait 1 turn > sacrifice > intimidation.
icon_arrow.gif best duo ingame : XF+Hood.
- played XF "recovery" correctly, then healthpack used only for hood.
- Most skip guaranteed duo. While sentry/hood need 2 color too launch WR+sacrifice(+intimidation) combo, XF+hood eventually launch either XF/surgical+silly AI cascades, enough too make u scream.
- Sentry/Hood counter. 3 B/G boost -> aim Hood 1st -> match 2 green/black -> launch either XF/surgical to take hood down -> deny yellow to prevent sacrifice.
icon_arrow.gifHow to get top 10 without shield, sentry/hood required (obsolete after sentry got nerfed) :
1. join late @5-6 hour before end
2. climb to 700-720 with any char beside sentry/hood .
3. when finally reach 680-700, hit one with sentry/hood for defense purpose.
4. stop climbing, maintain that score, wait until 20 min before end.
5. prepare 3 x 40+ points nodes.
6. @20 min, bomb those 3 nodes and keep climbing until u run out of healthpack.
7. in the end u'll get around 900+ (minus last minute retaliations), that's top 10 guarantee in normal bracket (,")
8. If u have XForce u can switch with XF+hood to neutralize sentry/hood by taking down hood 1st (as mentioned prevs).
(edit whalesduo to sentry/hood)

As mention above on PVE section, there's no need to join too early, open and grind all nodes to get top 10.

    The Simulator
    ::Normal Sub::
Enter on 1day-12hrs mark, grind essential + 3 top right, 2x per node/refresh.
    jKAHizn.jpg
    ::Hard Sub::
Enter on 1day-18hrs mark, grind only essentials, 2x/3x per node/refresh.
    o79VtK2.jpg

    The Hunt
Joined (i forgot prolly 18hrs mark), grind only essentials, 2x per node/refresh, open and grind the rest on final hours.
    3UM7Iwh.jpg

    Heroic : Juggernaut
Joined on 24hrs mark, 2x per node/refresh, leave the last essentials for final hour grind.
    um7I9E7.jpg

Note: 2x grind will refresh node around 4.5hrs, 3x around 7.5hrs.

will update other PVE when i have time icon_e_wink.gif

    Thick As Thieves
1st Sub: Join 12hrs mark, grind mark nodes 3x (from pic below). With 7.5hrs refresh, i just have to make 2nd n final hours grind. So i just need 2 run on the 1st sub.

Will update final 1st sub result.

great set of tips. thanks much for taking the time to write this up.

can i ask you a few questions?

    1. I've read this thing about soft maxing a 3* character. From what I understood, this means not leveling out a 3* to the max level because maybe the last ten-twenty levels are arbitrary. Two hundred more hitpoints and doing 50 more damage per skill may not be worth it due to the high iso cost and maybe even this will also bring the "strength" of you roster down so you get more non-maxed out opponents. is there such a thing and what would that "soft max" optimal level be?

    2. Is it worth it to just not pick up any skills in conflicting colors? What I mean is if I have lazythor and deadpool, and I prefer deadpools red, would it be a good idea to not level up thors red to even one level? I know that places a limitation on the max capped level for lazy thor, but considering my previous question and how i prefer to do a "soft max", would you recommend that?

    3. If two characters did have conflicting colors, who would use their skill more? Is it whoever gets the required ap first? I have seen the comp A.I. sometimes not use skills even when they can and instead chain 2-3 skills together. Can anyone go more into detail how the A.I. casts skills?

    4. In terms of how strong your roster is and how the matchmaking deems who is a fair opponent for you, is it a good idea to hold onto all characters? I have 38 heroes in my roster because I try my best to keep every hero and my question is am i shooting myself in the foot? Does the computer think I'm some super duper nick fury level 1000 player who has 40 heroes and can compete with other players who similarly have capped 270 xforces and sentries and smaller rosters? Should I sell my beast? I unluckily got like almost max covers for him but I just hate using him. Even though he's level 40, is this making my roster formidable in the MMR system's eyes? I also have a few other characters like that. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

    Thanks for you time!! icon_e_biggrin.gif

edit - not sure what happened but i tried posting and nothing showed up so imma try again.

Soft Max indeed a very interesting idea, i prefer softmaxing based on skill and duet variation.
    Pros: Optimal non-stack skill duet
Cons: Health and Damage not maximum
    Possible SoftMax char lvl 140:
    HT : 5/5/0
    LT : 0/5/5
    Steve : 0/5/5
Hood : Up 2 u. Some argue it doesn't require level as long as having 5 blue. Some argue max level required for health. I agree both argument, lol.

Anti Soft-Max char lvl 166: (i mean not recommended for soft maxing)
Patch : 3/5/5 + softmax chars to optimize TBTI.
Laken : skill built anything. True healing char should go max
Carol : 3/5/5 then she won't be a tanker where she should be. Although her red could stack w others.
DP : 5/5/3 max ALOtP n whales damage
    C.Mags : 3/5/5 (all skill charming)
BP : 5/3/5 (eventho blue sucks but u need max level to get max RoP damage)
Hulk : still best tank in game (+ soft max 221 XF,great for def)
    Doom : 5/5
    Pun : Low health.
    Myst : 5/5/0
    Blade : all skill charming
Hood : Up 2 u. Some argue it don't require level as long as have 5 blue. Some argue max level required for health. I agree both argument, lol.

Im not sure softmaxing other char, like :
    XF : 5/5/0 + softmax LT/Steve prolly cool
    Nick : ?
    Dino : 5/5/0
    She-Hulk : 5/0/0 LOL
Psy : 5/0/5 cool but health would be too low
Pun : skill built depends on ur style
    P.Storm : 0/0/5 ? lol
    Mystique : 5/5/0
    Beast : 0/0/0 ?
    GSBW,IM40,Spidey,DocOc,Falcon

TBH i don't know, just a wild guess, prolly determined by team strongest color or level.

nope, regardless MMR only several chars worth maxing.

If u have enough HP for roster, go for it. If not, clean some space, delete the most unused char, even it's a 3*.
U may delete unwanted new char introduced in PVE-X after PVE-Y done, for it's featured on PVE-Y.

Yes on PVE, roster based scalling. PVP MMR, i'm not sure.
    grapez wrote:

Yes ... but, ummm this is like a question for myself, lol

Beast 40 same here man, but i guess not. Again, regarding PVP MMR i'm not sure, besides they still working on it.
  • In regards to underleveling, one of top guys in my bracket is fielding entire roster of playable 3* and 4* with full covers, but only of level 85 or lower (including 13/13 Xforce and Fury), what do you think about that?

You mentioned Whaleduo as an example in the quick PVP tips. I can't find another reference to this anywhere. who's the other character besides deadpool?

It's Sentry + Hood, name referencing on how much you need to spend on shields and/or all AP boosts for effectivness.

On side note I would recommend if guide actually used bit more common names rather fancy stuff like that. Like clearly stating who/what Sentry-bombing is and calling it that way.

    Could be :
    1. He's a PVE oriented guy, he did that to avoid roster based scalling.
    2. This is about collection marvel covers. If he already have fully covered 3* rosters, then very reasonable if PVP no longer his priority.

whalesduo is sentry/hood, sorry i call em that way, coz that's the only duo to get 2K+ in pvp.

    Done man, thx icon_e_wink.gif
Post sentry nerf, i'll try to change possible duo to get top 10 w/o shield.
btw, is it duo or duet? icon_e_confused.gif
  • Duo. Duet is when two people singing together the same song.

well, for TaT and Unstable ISO-8 there's no special workaround since all nodes are auto-open.
So depend on your bracket, grind each refresh in your timing style is necessary to hold your rank.
  • Really helpful stuff, thankyou.

Hmm, reading through your guide, I've come to realize I am doing the exact opposite of that!

No wonder I've hit a brick-wall with my puny army of 94s.

For the Mystique event, I _really_ wanted her covers (don't ask... I can't explain it either) - I was grinding every stack non-stop, using boosts to win the hard fights.

Same in PvP, start early, boosts almost every fight past 300 once I see the "hellbracket" guys instead of the seed ones with level 1.

All came to a head during the current Groot event - I'm completely stone-walled. sitting about 500 in the rankings and faced with "deadly" nodes.

No clue about tanking, and fighting tooth and nail for every point (then sliding down overnight because I don't have the hp to shield).

I think I need to take a break for an event or two... let my "MMR" and whatever the PvE equivalent are cool off to more reasonable levels.

I don't think MN.Mags and C.Storm are good for _defensive_ PvP at all... with my own Mags/Storm, I can chew them up because the AI is terrible at using Mags pruple power and will never make 5-matches (certainly not two of them) - which is the main reason for using him. As offensive, I agree... but I'm trying to get my OBW levels so I have some "AI-defense" that doesn't rely on very specific blue tile placement from Mags.

    I'll add a tip:

For PvE, having a single IM40 yellow cover combined with a buffed 2* Torch or Wolverine is a huge help to 2* --> 3* transition players. Along with a red/yellow boost, it's an incredibly strong and reliable way to beat the hardest nodes(1 yellow match = 9 red AP two turns later).

PvE wise, this guide is amazing (not really high enough to test out PVP yet, can usually get to 300 points before i can't get winnable matches). Was out of the top 300 for TaT on the final day (roughly 10 hours til completion), pulled a yellow Falcon cover, GGG'd the essential nodes and then grinded in the last hour, ended top 125 :]

Yes, this is very nice. I used Daken, Patch/Wolvie, IM40 in Heavy Metal. It was fun. My patch is level 104 with 5 green covers. Not sure how many covers I have for his other skills.

And advice for how to place well without the essential character? I missed out on Groot and the new "Welcome to Earth" event is kicking my ****. icon_e_sad.gif

Sorry, zero advice.. either vet or new players, only determined hardcore grinders will win this PVE. Everyone aiming top 5-50 personally or securing top 50 ally. For thoress sake.
But, if this PVE rewards a regular 3*, i think the grindstyle would be the same like other subPVE's.
