Yep that's my bracket too. I thought I was so clever when I started at that time too.

Looks like we're all in it together. I was just about to post asking is it a death bracket or do people really want marvel...800ish is usually good for top 25 when I play. Didn't even bother after I got 800 bc the next shelf was almost 1k for 30th.

strange but I have the same. In my bracket's top10 is 1300 and more. with 500 I'm not even close to top100 (in most cases it's enough for me). max level of my characters is 103 only by the way.
I thought may be lots of people want marvel but all of top10 have either maxed marvel or nearly maxed...

UPD: 670 point got me 78. that's ridiculous...
  • Top10 is 1300 for me too (leader Soundwave). I think people are mostly after 1300 progression X-Factor black.
  • Leave this game to the top 100 maxed player . My highest is lv 94 2 star and never get a single 3 star from PVP ! I always surrounded by 166 when I m nearly 100.....get beat down to 120 to 200 or lower in every last 30 minutes... bad game...

That was fun and not cutthroat at all.

I'm glad I didn't actually want a 3* cover, apart from the 8th yellow Storm I picked up along the way to go with my 2 greens and 1 black.

Thanks devs for making hours of gameplaying such a pointless chore.
  • 1041 got me 24th place, I wish i could check what top 10 was...

900 got me 13th place. All the super serious players seem to start late. I start in the first 12 hours.

Highest I got was 42nd with 669 pts. Finished 56th with 592 pts. Netted more HP without shielding, so I didn't. Saw less attacks from 166s than in previous events. Had a few defensive wins, that helped boost me up, at least 40 something pts. Since Top 50 only gets 500 more ISO and 25 more HP than Top 100, I had no reason to strive for Top 50. If it meant another cover, shields up immediately.

My bracket was relatively soft. I can't check now, but 30 mins before the end, top 10 was around 750 and top was around 1200 pts

And why the hell is it that I keep getting bracketed with 166s everywhere? Hardly fair, as they'll have a much easier time progressing after the 166 wall at 500-600, meaning it becomes that much harder for any non-maxed out player to wrestle in for a cover in that same bracket.

To play devil's advocate here, why shouldn't you get put into the same bracket as people with 166s? You're fighting for the same rewards as them. You're looking to score more points than the majority of 500 people who joined at roughly the same time as you (brackets still seem to fill in about 20 minutes, even with the sharding system in place). Aside from the very early game (it's been shown that newer players do often get brackets for a while where scores below what you have will get them 1st, but then after a few of those, they get sharded off into the big leagues), we're all fighting for the same rewards in PvP. You score better than 499 other players who started about the same time as you, and you get the best prizes. Why should you get special treatment?

You're missing the very important point that once you have two 3*s leveled to 166, then you can at the least field a team of somewhat competitive strength against other 166 teams as those still have a decent chance of consisting of only 2 166s and an underleveled host character. If you have not yet reached that point, you have no way to field anything that can even remotely compete and any progress stalls. While you are prevented from accumulating more points, players that can field a few 166s of their own still have odds of continuing to rack up points. Effectively, that will cut you out of the top 100, will cut you out of the 3* cover rewards, and will cut you out of a decent opportunity to work towards a few 166s of your own. Chicken; meet egg.

It's not about not being presented with a challenge, it's about being presented with an insurmountable challenge when others are not.
  • i finished 6th with 1541. i guess people really wanted CM
  • With an hour left I was in 21st with 709, but fell asleep at my computer and didn't shield. Woke up in 90th with 550. OOPS! Oh well, ISO and HP is just as good.

Someone two replies below you posted that their 550 got them top 100. The 166 wall doesn't usually start until after 600. Are you as a star.pngstar.png often cut out of top 5, and probably even the double covers for places 6-25? Yes, more than likely. You are certainly not cut out of the star.pngstar.pngstar.png cover reward for top 100.

Whether or not you like the idea of hitting 600-650 or so, shielding and lining up targets for a hop, does not change the fact that it is very possible to get into the star.pngstar.pngstar.png cover rewards in PvP as a star.pngstar.png player.

i do 587pts and got #106 but normally i can get top100 with 580-620 pts

166 teams start around 550 pts
  • I've never scored over 800 because I just don't have a strong enough team for that, but I'm consistently top 100 with 600 or so points, and have hit Top 25 a few times with high 600s or low 700s.

    Define 'usually'.
I've had it start at 500 ever since the anniversary events ended.

    Couple of things with this:
    1. What is your MMR like? If you miss seed teams, what level opponents do you see in your starting nodes?
    2. How early are you getting to 500? Early in the event, there are just less players at those points. So if I try to climb to 6-700 on the first day, I'm going to play some 166s around 4-600, but not all of them. I'll get star.pngstar.png rosters if I skip a few times.
If you're playing on the last day, I find star.pngstar.png teams past 600, but still some 166s, and again, skipping around will find more targets. I've also been finding them sometimes past 700, but it is less frequent.

I've tried to tank MMR as low as having maxed 1*s as initial opponents. Makes no difference; full sets of 166s all the same.
I've tried joining early, I've tried joining late. Makes no difference; full sets of 166s at 500-600 points. This last event decided to toss in 270s into the mix as well.
I usually climb to 300 in one sitting and then climb to 500-600 on the last day of an event. Trying to climb earlier is a pain with no matches awarding over 12pts.

Maybe the problem is that I'm playing from an EU timezone and am playing at a time when many players, even in the mid-segment, have a shield up because they cannot play at that time. (All the more reason for D3P/Demiurge to finally address the timezone issue properly.)

Fun fact: my 1310, usually a T5 score for me, got me #18. icon_eek.gif

Apparently, there were several death brackets going around, but ours was probably the worst.
