Yes, it's all about your luck in showing up on other people's list. Sometimes the #1 runs up, but never gets attacked because they're in a MMR deadzone. Other times you get hit 5 times by the same person, who you never retaliated against, because you're the easiest/highest ranked person that shows up in their list of a half dozen people.

And good freaking luck regularly finding someone who'll give you more than 25 points once you're above like 600-700. If you're lucky, your list will get stuck on someone actually worth something, in which case you're the **** hitting someone multiple times in a row.

I'm that ****. I find 1 good target and farm the piss outta them. 1 good target means fewer retaliation

I am too. Especially when 5 of the people it gets stuck on are names I recognize from the forum (and then I look at the thread after the tourney and it turns out the guy I've been hitting on also is on the forum icon_redface.gif )

OK, who broke the tinykitty bot?

if you want a hope at finishing in the top 20s do your run to 700 a day before tourney end. then go relax and do whatever until the final 1h, you've now lost 300-400 points but you've got a stock of juicy retaliations yourself

What stock? I hit one person and the next target that comes up is not a retaliation. That's despite having been hit by 20 people over the past day. I get hit by 5 people while playing and my retaliation list is, at most, 3 deep.

    Yeah, that's broken too.

never attack someone worth less than 25 points no matter how often you need to skip

Frequently not possible. I can skip for 15 minutes and not get anyone over 15 points. Of course, that's because it's showing the same 10-20 people over and over and over.

top 1 is still possible, ive done top 1 and top 2 recently. really it boils down to how many times you get attacked in the final moments and with the current scoring that can still knock you off the top if the match maker isnt kind.

I've gotten both as well, but it's complete luck. You're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. Part of the luck is whose matchmaking you show up on -- and you have no control over that. Some people seem to be disappearing from matchmaking, since they sit at the top for an hour or more without being hit.

And talking about it being the current meta is a joke. The current meta is no different from the old meta. The difference is in the scoring, and all it is is a roulette wheel. The overall tactics haven't changed one bit.

    For God's sake cherryloop:

    1. The word is spelled CHARACTERS. Last time you left out the H, now you're missing the H and C.
    2. If you are so dissatisfied with the game, find something else to do... like working on your spelling.

Back on topic, what Catalyst stated at the top of this page is pretty much the quick of it. Grinding out a few hours before tourney end is going to make you throw your phone. You need to either make your big push earlier and do maintenance near the end, or, if you are high enough, do a last minute push with little chances of multiple retaliations.

I was all ready to hit ya with some knowledge, but the besr remedy for trolls is starvation. Blocked
  • just ignore the trolls...it's pretty obvious
  • For the first round of Widowmaker, I started with 30 hours left and got top 20 despite being in the top 5 most of the time.

For the second round, I decided to forgo all of the heartache and grind and started with 12 hours left. I got top 8.

I'm pretty sure that "playing hard to get" isn't the optimal battle strategy D3P had in mind. XD
  • I find that in the two day events (widow no holds type) its the last 4-5 hrs where you stand the best chance of getting top 25 I rarely play them the last couple events granted when I was I did all my work late I never aim for 1st I go for second tier prizes not to interested in the 4 stars yet I'm just not that advanced yet with the scoring system it seems to much hassle for first anyway ramble ramble. What I'm getting at is play in the last few hours and hope you don't get 20 ret in the last min
