That's presuming you actually care about the cannon fodder that passes for people in this game, right? icon_e_smile.gif

I like these events conceptually but as I started playing I realized that if I don't get to beat up teams with no hope of winning and I don't plan to outspend people on stuff that costs HP then I might as well not even play the event. If the event was fair then you've a 50% chance of winning most of your games, and if you win 50% of your games you can play 5 games before you're out. If you can only play 5 games in PvP, you might as well not even play. Note that 50% win rate is awfully generous because what usually happens is you win your first game and your characters are crippled and down to half health and if you try to fight again with that team you have more like a 5% chance of winning the next game. In terms of health pack management getting crippled in a game is as good as losing the game. And no you can't really switch people around because OBW/Juggernaut are by far the strongest 2*/1* so if you used someone else instead of them, your chance of winning goes way down.

The PvP game doesn't seem to be designed with the ability to only be able to play 5 games at a time in mind but that's what happens if you only win 50%. At least, I can't think of any scenario where PvP makes sense while playing such limited games. Either placement will be completely arbitary, or the more likely case is whoever spent more on stuff that cost HP wins still.
Seriously, what is with your obsession with 50%? Repeating it over and over doesn't make it any more of a thing that it ever was
  • What is 50%? I win 99% of all my matches. If I lose, it is usually a lucky cascade the AI got. Of course I don't play at high levels of competition.

Though there is stuff worth critiquing about this game, given that they asked people to vote, as if anything else even had a chance... PvP to start with is hardly a shining beacon of gameplay light.

Will happily swap any rewards the OP has received in the past week with mine (which still consist of a slot hogging Purple Dino and endless 2*s).

This. I have great success with my "All-Star Two-Star" team of Magneto+Storm+Hawkeye taking very little damage. Once that team was weakened enough, I used Hulk+2*Daken+Juggs to great effect, leaving a powerful defensive team behind. I haven't been able to play much more yet, but once I do, and that team is out too, I'll move to the fresh waters of Ares+OBW+whomever, and once they're down, Black Panther+Sentry+whomever, then Patch+Spidey/Loki+whomever, and so on. (Admittedly, "whomever" more likely than not will be Juggs, the only character that you should be spending your health packs on.)

If you keep him at level 1, he heals before you can press the purple button to use a health pack. I exaggerate, but not by much, it is a thing of beauty having Juggs at level 1 for these events.

In CA I wss running Lthor/daken/c-hawkeye. Daken and thor tanked everything for hawkeye and its nice being able to throw a crit tile out when you only need one or two more yellow/green to fire off thors powers. And dakens blue would hit like a truck. Obw would get crushed by it regularly.

Bop I see more variety as well but its instead of seeing the same 5 or so teams it 9 or so. With lots and li ts of overlap.
  • Well, Sentry/Hood or Sentry/Daken or whatever Sentry/X team is the current Top Tier metagame.

XForce changed things a bit up to 1100. And there will be changes in the future. As long as there are boosts and shields, there will be shield hopping. That's how the game works at the moment. Love it or leave it, I would say.

The Top Tier metagame is very often broken in every game. Anyone heard of Jace the Mind Sculptor in MTG ?

It was thrilling to go so high with Sentry/X in Combined Arms. Never did it before, and for once, I felt it was necessary because the rewards were so good.

I am currently enjoying myself during this Anniversary week, and plan to play a marathon with all the events till the end of the week end.

It's just crazy but it feels so good to be crazy !!! Yay !

    Thanks for spilling the beans.
Now it's on your head if this get patched. icon_e_wink.gif

But seriously; yeah, it's pretty ridiculous. A complement of all level 1 fully-covered 1-star characters allows you to make a killing in BoP. Theoretically you could spend the roster slots to keep 2 fully-covered copies of all relevant 1-stars around and never have to stop playing: team A would have regenerated fully by the time team B goes down.

I'll spill some more beans - 2 stars scale better to 270 than 1 stars. Running some combo of Ares and oBW, Baken, or Torchling is more powerful than any 1 star team you can field.

Ah yes, but most times you do not need that bit of added power to waltz over the AI opponents.
In contrast, with the 5 health pack limit that fast regen on 1* characters really does help a lot.

And as for being weaker on the defensive; as long as you're rolling Jugs (with optional Venom added on), most will think twice and opt to move on to find a match that is easier on their hitpoints.

You're a bit late David icon_razz.gif The inflammatory posts happened almost 3 days ago and the community quickly fixed it with low scoring. Ever since the thread has been quite pacific and actually informative.

I suppose so, but the offending post was flagged and reported only a few hours ago so I thought it warranted an official response. Never too late for a plea for continued civility. icon_e_wink.gif
  • Balance of Power is my favourite PvP actually. For once you don't just use your usual line-up, but play around and come up with new teams. The possibilities are endless. (Colossus gets to throw Venom and Juggernaut for once. icon_mrgreen.gif )
I can also dust off my main team from my 2* days, Ares/Thor/OBW, and feel sentimental about it.

(And before the OP sees the need for another condescending post, I have a pretty good roster, thank you very much. Almost every character fully covered, a couple maxed and 25 or so above lvl 100.)
