Celebrate the Anniversary by Showcasing the Two Worst PVPs

They aren't fun, they suck, every tinykitty team is the same at the high end because there's literally nothing you can do except sentry bomb.
And this is different than other PvPs how exactly?0 -

I guess 3* has been fairly diverse with Thor/Daken appearing alot at low scores being replaced by BP/Daken/Sentry at the top actually this is probably the middle and Sentry is probably the only thing at the actual top.
On my climb, I saw a bunch of Caps/Hulk/Panther. Thor/Sentry didn't appear until I got over 800.0 -
My favorite events are events where everyone has the same roster. And I have a decently high end roster.
When everyone has the same amount of power, it comes down to who plays the puzzle game better. Which is usually when I get first place.0 -
You have to blame the other players if you see too many Sentry teams and if you're playing Sentry then you're part of the problem.
The fact that these events give players the opportunity to use some of characters that are not absolute top tier and still have a fighting chance is what makes them fun. And, anyway, how badly do you really need these rewards? If you hate it so much just take a break for a couple of days, maybe you'll enjoy it more once you come back and can play with Lady Thor.0 -

I was thinking something similar. Winners will still be decided by whoever wants to spend the most time and HP.0 -
Yes, shields are still necessary at the top.
But playing twice as many matches as others before running out of health packs helps too.0 -
But the newbs with time and HP can still rock it out in these. The veterans have to fight everyone instead of just themselves and that makes it more challenging than they are used to.0

Instead of bashing on Jozier, I think we should all try and help him. Obviously he is a very angry young man, I'm almost 100% positive he is still angry while sleeping.
All this anger inside you is just gonna cause ulcers and migraines. Maybe you should not play the game anymore as it clearly upsets you. Maybe go on a vacation? Or a retreat? Practise yoga?

In fairness I did forget all the Hulks I was skipping my bad 6 3* appeared over and over instead of 5 with the other 20+ appearing a handful of times combined. Saying that "Oh I saw a Daredevil once. This event must be diverse" is kinda dumb I'll see all kinds of 'bad' characters in the average PvP too usually from players with no better options and a low score. This event isn't fun/or unfun because of diversity since there isn't any more or less than any other event. It might be fun because using characters that have been sitting on the bench for months might be fun but don't trot out diversity because it's not there.0 -
I like these events conceptually but as I started playing I realized that if I don't get to beat up teams with no hope of winning and I don't plan to outspend people on stuff that costs HP then I might as well not even play the event. If the event was fair then you've a 50% chance of winning most of your games, and if you win 50% of your games you can play 5 games before you're out. If you can only play 5 games in PvP, you might as well not even play. Note that 50% win rate is awfully generous because what usually happens is you win your first game and your characters are crippled and down to half health and if you try to fight again with that team you have more like a 5% chance of winning the next game. In terms of health pack management getting crippled in a game is as good as losing the game. And no you can't really switch people around because OBW/Juggernaut are by far the strongest 2*/1* so if you used someone else instead of them, your chance of winning goes way down.
The PvP game doesn't seem to be designed with the ability to only be able to play 5 games at a time in mind but that's what happens if you only win 50%. At least, I can't think of any scenario where PvP makes sense while playing such limited games. Either placement will be completely arbitary, or the more likely case is whoever spent more on stuff that cost HP wins still.0 -

@Phantron: two words: Roster Depth. In most events, once I hit the 3* ranger, I have just a handful of viable 3* teams I can use. Normally, it's true - I play a handful of matches and then I'm out. This event? Let's list off some viable teams.
Hood+OBW+Sentry
Hood+LCap+Ares
Daken+Thor+Patch
BP+Falcon+Punisher
Hulk+Barney+Juggernaut
OBW+Juggernaut+BP
OBW+Juggernaut+M.Storm
C.Storm+MNMags+Hulk ("Sentry Bomb? What Sentry Bomb?")
All kinds of bizarre, esoteric teams that usually don't work at all because 2*s and 1*s are too damn flimsy.0 -

I went from 0 to 500 without a loss pretty easily, and stopped because I wanted to not because of health packs. That was roughly 20-25 matches (most matches were 20-25 pts). Now, granted I have 2 OBW builds, so that mitigates some of it, but 5 is pretty light.
There's a threshold where 5 becomes closer to correct, likely around the typical PvP 'wall' at 800, as that's where the sub-optimal teams start to become way more infrequent/almost non-existent. Then yes, you're playing coin flip matches hoping your OBW is faster than the AIs.0 -

There are still plenty of weak teams even in an event like this. I'm not talking about fighting a weak 3* + classic Storm + whoever. Of course you can beat those teams quite reliably. If they got a maxed 3* that's good + OBW + Juggernaut you're going to come pretty close to 50% win rate, and remember winning alone isn't enough to stop the health pack bleeding. I'm not even saying this format is terrible, but it's quite clear the PvP game wasn't designed with fairness in mind because you'd only be able to play 5 games. Or maybe it's designed that way but they just don't realize it never works like this except in Balance of Power type events?0 -
They are giving enough iso away this week that you have my permission this one time to use some boosts to help your win ratio a little if you need it Phantron. I won't tell.0

Yeah I would've voted for something different too. I'm not a fan of either one of these two PVP's. I play everything that comes down the pipe so it doesn't really matter what it is and if I like it or not let's face it I'm going to play it. The thing that sucks is that you could only vote through Facebook and those that were running the polls, you had to give them access to your friends list and all your likes, there's no way I'm doing that that's completely unnecessary information that they don't need in order to tally up votes.0

BoP I thought was "better" cause you can't really sentry bomb max juggs. This past one was just sentry/juggs then either obw or cstorm (the better pick for shield hopping imo since you don't want to fight her when you're also sentry bombing) with an occasional daken or ares thrown in for fun. The first 5-700 points were somewhat fun since I saw a ton of different teams and used different fun teams of my own, but past that it was sentry everywhere to the surprise of no one. Here's hoping that changes for BoP.0

I like BoP and CA. Would run all the silly teams there are out there if there was no such thing as defensive losses.
Jozier seriously needs a break. Of course now that *I* have said it, he will spend twice as much time and HP on the events he hates to 'spite' me. Whatevs. Don't hate on actual playerbase (=newbs); newbs grow up to be better players than you, joz.0 -
Knyghtmare wrote:Funny, because all I've see OBW, OBW, OBW. Why would people use OBW so much when she doesn't even have True Healing. Oh right, because she gets tons of cascade advantages and once she gets started, it's near impossible to win the game. So let's not pretend there has been some great diversity in this game. OBW just became the new Sentry and OBW at that level is far cheaper than even Sentry can be. This is coming from someone who doesn't even use Sentry, although I have him mostly leveled up.
Juggs makes short work of OBW as long as she doesn't get purple in time. All the blue in the world isn't going to save her from two headbutts, or 1 headbutt + weaker attack, or 1 headbutt + <insert any number of weaker attacks including Unstoppable Crash with strike tiles.)0 -
Call to Arms I was never a big fan of, basically because you really only have 1 choice for your 1* and that's Juggs, although Storm and IM are okay, and Venom has his moments.
2* is completely dominated by OBW, with the occasional Ares or Thor. 3* you see the most variety, but it usually ended up being Sentry followed by BP or Thor.
Balance of Power is a little more fun just for the fact you can still run your favorite combos or go Crazy. It's sorta nice being able to have 2 Daken's or 2 Storm's. BoP is the nice combination of being able to still Sentry bomb like no one's business, but also being able to run other very effective combo's like Patch/BP/Marvel. FYI, that is crazy fun. Beserker Rage, Marvel Tanks, makes loads of red and black, Rage of the Panther and TBTI come very quickly. Sure Marvel's dead, but it was fun.0
