    It should be possible to lock all threads that haven't been Active in a long time automatically. Agreeing what is "a long time" may be tricky though.

    6 months? 1 year? I'd say those are both pretty safe numbers.

    Make it 1 month - there's a pretty fast level of churn in General, and ~most~ topics that require sporadic ongoing discussion probably belong in a different sub forum anyway. Like this one, which really should be in Tips & Guides.
