So given my roster, would these guys be decent additions? It seems like the general consensus is that they don't seem to be good enough to be a core member of the roster, and given how my core roster is only thor, wolvie,o widow, i should probably save the iso for more important characters.
  • The biggest problem for me right now in answering this question is despite the fact that my Punisher is over lvl120 and Hulk is 50 I have no idea how they play because they are both buffed in the Hulk event and I haven't participated in a pvp tourney in a while.

So unless you need them leveled up to help you accomplish something in the Hulk pve I would say wait a little before making the decision either way.
  • I'm not really sold on Punisher, skill costs are nice but too unreliable. I might level Hulk once I have some more black covers to replace my IM40.
  • Honestly I think this guy was introduced to be a meat shield... for Ragnarok icon_eek.gif

yeah that's what i would pencil him in as ... a meat shield for ragnarok who offers marginal contributions to green generation in the ragnarok / black widow pairing

    except

    1) ragnarok is already beefy as hell
    2) don't really need more green right now since ragnarok provides plenty ... if they nerf his red maybe, but right now I think spidey/IM40 is still better for stuns / "**** there's no red"

I don't know if this is common knowledge yet, but hulks green covers also add extra damage to the skill; I compared my three green Hulk to the gimmie two green hulk and the damages were about 370 and 315 respectively, when both were level 30.

Marginal? 4 green almost every turn is hardly marginal, 5 if you don't care about your team getting damaged in the process. Rag/Hulk/Widow would get to 19 green absurdly fast.

__fulu__, would love to get your thoughts on how Hulk is playing for you right now. Specifically, how often do you trigger Anger? How much green do you usually have when you trigger Thunderous Clap? How easy is it to store up 30 green for Smash, and how much board configuration do you have to do to build up AP/not kill your own team?

I'd originally figured 5/3/5, but your comments about the extra green tiles being worth less than the red damage have got me thinking maybe 3/5/5. Would be curious how Hulk plays with grey Widow, Ragnarok, and any other combinations you've played him with.

I'm fiendishly drunk. I'll get back to all tomorrow icon_e_smile.gif

Psssst, fulu...hope you're not too hungover still icon_e_smile.gif There's gonna be a bunch of us trying to decide what to do with Hulk covers in a couple of days!

Apologies. Im on vacation and have been attempting to avoid technology. I trigger anger by throwing hulk in front whenever I expect an opponents ability. It's pretty common. Anytime the opponent hits over 360 damage right now is an anger. Ragnarok triggers 2-3 a turn if he gets rolling.

If I am teaming with Rags, then the green is literally pouring in, so it is ridiculously easy to build up for clap. I activate it whenever I have over 24 green. The best part is the cascades afterwards always return a fair amount of ap.

As for smash, if you save their heavy hitter for last, it is a great way to tear him down fast. I built my hulk 5/3/5 though. In retrospect I'm just thinking 4/4/5 or 3/5/5 might have been better for those reasons I mentioned. Now that I've used it I don't think smash is as bad as I'd originally thought. It isn't too hard to ensure less than 10 green are on the board.

Atm my smash does 1600 plus 150 per green. So 4600 with 30 green when used. I can't get rank 5 numbers for you but I still see that as a better addition than the couple of destroyed tiles I got with green.
  • Wouldn't it be more efficient to bring along Grey Widow and use her level 5 green ability instead?
  • Yes, if you like her. I like different setups at times.
  • I meant using her WITH hulk and rag. Having both of them feed her green.

She would certainly be well fed in green in that case icon_e_smile.gif
  • You need to make sure your Hulk is extremely highly leveled, because Grey Widow has very high tile damage on blue and purple, and she's very squishy.

Carelessly matching her strongest tiles will pull her up to the front and she can get smacked down quick.

With a very, very high level Hulk, more tiles will have his symbol and he'll stay at the front more frequently.

Still not sold on the character but interested to hear feedback from those who take him to 141. I've seen at least a couple 100+ Hulks out there.

Note that you're not going to get Hulk or any other 3* that doesn't have blue/purple as a main color out in front of Widow -- the off color damages for 3*s are too low to surpass anything but a very low level 3* that has them as main colors. So if you want Widow to stay safe you'd have to take in Spidey or Mags (and just accept Widow taking purples).

With rags and hulk feeding green, you don't really need her purple power anyway
  • Awesome, fulu, thanks for the input (especially appreciated given you're on vacation). I'm definitely convinced -- 3/5/5 it is.

For the interested, the wiki has his L15 stats for all levels of his green ability. I'm pretty sure they scale linearly as you level up Hulk -- I checked every five levels when I leveled mine from 15 to 40, and the percentage gap between L1 green and L2 green was basically the same every time.

So I'm pretty sure that his L141 green stats look something like this:

L5 (confirmed): 2492 base, 298 per green, max of 8452
L4 (extrapolated): 2310 base, 223 per green, max of 6780
L3 (extrapolated): 2135 base, 180 per green, max of 5736

Keep in mind that while the AI doesn't normally know to store up green to maximize red damage, if you hit him with enough Angers, he might get enough green on its own to approach the max. Even if he only has 20 green (i.e., he uses Clap first, gets no green off the cascade, and then Smashes), that's 4k damage at L3 and 5.5k at L5. Moral of the story: if you're going to hit Hulk when he's not stunned, either hit him really really hard or make sure you kill him, else you're in for real bad times.
  • The abilities are nice. I'm not impressed. I'm not disappointed. I'm not sure I like the countdown timer and strike tiles on punisher. It's been a hard thing to count on.

I'd prefer a splash of red tiles on the board. I think the current damage output to opponents team and changing 5 random tiles to red would is worth 7 black AP (or changing up to 5 env or green tiles to red). I do see that might be a headache to deal with.
