Good to know. I guess it's safe to play again so back into battle I go!

So, turns out after some investigation that it was the result of some mandated server resets on the server farm side that our game play servers *should* have handled gracefully but obviously did not do so as well as they should have. Our guess is that a new generation of hamsters was being moved in and our old ones put up a valiant defense against being moved to the pastures. Failover meant that there was very little time when anything was unavailable, it just took a little time for everything to sync itself back up afterwards.

I don't hold anything against D3, just bad luck on my part (I'll deal). I just wanted to know if there was a way around losing the info in the lag time?
In this particular case, not really anything you could do on your end. You sent off your client side requests, the servers were already in an unstable state, and part of your instructions fell into the abyss.
I would recommend, in the future, disabling monetary transactions prior to server reset by a reasonable window.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the timely response. Like I said no love lost, just wondering.
