Monetary invest will keep me here for a bit despite the fact I may not invest any more. Hoping the game evolves over time (probably won't). Besides that, this game wasn't an endless runner or a terrible card battle game under the Marvel license (I so went there).
  • My alliance keeps me in it (though we've had some turnover too, I'm not an original member of Retribution myself - I joined at the start of season 3 - but I'm probably one of the older members by now). My roster keeps me in it too, I spent a lot of time and iso and that (and quite a bit of real money too icon_redface.gif ). And it's still fun for me. Of course I roll my eyes and grow frustrated or even swear at the game loudly from time to time, but I'm still having fun.

I play on the commute, I play during lunch break, I play before I got to sleep, I may on ccasion play in the middle of the night or right before that pesky 6 AM ending time (and then go back to bed 'til 7 AM), I occasionally sneak in a few matches during work, or in the changing room before training.
  • I just stopped "caring..." I rarely play anymore unless I WANT to play, going for top 10 or top 25 instead of 1st.. Missing one cover doesn't slow down 3* development that much and I'll get those 4* covers from tokens eventually... months and months from now...

Dunno if 210+ days counts as a vet compared to others, but I stick around because it's fun. When it stops being fun, I'll stop playing, at least competitively so. I'll probably pick it up here and there just to play Bejeweled with Marvel characters.
  • Its a good question. I think many of us have felt at what time or another that its too much. I know for me anytime this games shield timing pvp gets in the way of my real life I get annoyed more and more.

I couldnt agree more on the hood/sentry boring-ness. Its getting old. But I also dont welcome a nerf because with D3s track record all they will do is make the characters slower. I dont want that either.

I still play because its a fun game and recently I have been playing some new characters which is interesting. But only on climb because once again, you can only use 2 characters after that....

The X Force change made me happy though. He is a fun character. Love climbing with him. I logged off Destiny last night and sat and played with xforce for 45 mins... So yeah even though this game is tiresome at times I still preferred to play it over destiny when they made a good change.

The constant efforts by the Devs to nickel-and-dime users just got too much for me. Despite the claims that changes were being made for funbalancing and to make the game more interesting, every change that has been made since the all-AP boost and healthpacks were converted to HP seem designed to cause characters to spend more and take more damage (so they have to spend more on health-packs). I lasted as long as I did out of loyalty for my S.H.I.E.L.D-mates, but gave up with the beginning of this season. I thought I might play occasionally when there was a good prize, but after not playing for a week, I joined the Simulator PVE with about 5 hours to go. After playing just three nodes in the hard bracket of 133, 167, and 202, I said "eff this." Without characters who can control the board, like Magneto, and facing cheap, massive damage-dealers like Sentry and Fury, plus team-ups using Patch's and Daken's powers, four of my max-level characters were dead and the others had suffered significant damage. Just to keep playing the PVE would have required me to exhaust my health-packs.

Since team-ups, the removal of environments, and the nerfs to Spidey, Classic Storm, and Magneto, the Devs haves removed any semblance of strategy from the game. It's now simply a matter of whether you can destroy your opponent before your team dies. That game holds no interest for me, so I am done for good.
  • I retired then came back after over a month. Gave m!e some extra juice and I promised myself I wouldn't push as hard. Joined a top 25 alliance and found I don't have it in me to not try. It was deadpool that attracted me back. Now I'm looking forward to lower scores to do well in pvp........
I think time will tell but I'm back in for the foreseeable future

I agree with many of the comments. Reck, I wish I could thumb yours up even more.

As to what would keep me going...at the moment, I'm not really sure. But at the end of the day, team is first, and those are my brothers and sisters in SHIELD.

What keeps me going is the fact that I don't have all my 3* and 4* characters maxed out, it's gonna take more than 3.2 million ISO for me to do that and until that's done....im gonna be here

I've found that if you start playing the game for yourself and not for the sake of an alliance, then it becomes more "fun" as it was before the alliance thing came on board. Play when you want and as competitively as you want without having to feel the pressure of it being like "work". Although, if you're the obsessive compulsive type that needs to complete everything then this might not work for you.

    It's fun and it's free.
  • Hey francky. I feel your pain. I keep playing because it is addicting. But you are right, D3 is making it very difficult to hang in there. I don't think that they care if veteran players leave. I think that the business model they use requires it. After all, if you have a full roster and have been around awhile, they can't make any money on you. They need the new guys that want to go from 1 star to 2 star and then to 3 star. Once you have several 3 star characters, you don't need to spend any money on this game. I don't know if there is any way to get the attention of Demiurge "Al" or "Will" or "Ice". They conveniently disappear right after hosing us. Remember the true healing debacle? "Ice" said that a change was coming up that would make the players "Hulk smash angry". They knew these changes would make the players unhappy, and they didn't care. The same goes for team ups. I can't stand this change. It depreciates all of the covers that I work hard to get. But again, the management doesn't care. Probably the only way to get their attention is the bottom line. Do not give them any money!! No matter how tempting. Sorry for the long winded response, but I'm angry!!
  • I'm on day 170, so not a super long vet, but one of the main reasons I stick around is the peeps in my alliance. Great group of people that like to shoot the sh1t in our Line chat.

I love Marvel comics and I enjoy the competition. There were times where I was getting a bit tired, but that was my fault for grinding too hard and worrying too much about the results. I've eased up every season, but the results and rewards still came eventually. I look forward to the future of the game! icon_e_smile.gif
  • Am I even a vet with 251 days? Probably not. For how long has this game existed?

I know Kotaku reviewed the game on October 3rd last year. If it launched on the first, that would've give them two days to play around with it if they didn't get a preview version before launch. I stated playing about 2 days after the review was published.
  • Thanks. I started on New Year's Eve, because I saw one of my friends playing it. Guaranteed covers in packs, real healing powers, better boosts, no shields... Jolly old times. icon_e_smile.gif
