Personally, I do wonder how some of the top dogs got there, as I did start playing pretty damn early on (back in.. mid Sept was it?) & I'm still fielding a 2** team, and I play every day. I only just got my second Rag cover from the daily reward yesterday. My Mags is 1/0/1 as I've only ever scored 2 covers (random draws from tokens), Spidey is 2/2/2 by virtue of the recent tournament rewards (he was 0/0/2 prior to that). I have quite a few tournament 1st/2nd/3rds under my belt, the only thing I haven't won top prizes in are the Lightning Rounds, but I'm just not competitive there. Last time I tried I couldn't even hit top 100.

I just don't get how some people scored so many 3*** covers. Anyway, no nerd rage here, I'm still going to keep playing. Maybe I just didn't get into the Lightning Rounds early enough when a 2** team was more competitive.

Or maybe it's cause I haven't bought Hero Points?

Getting lucky with pulls has a lot to do with how fast you progress IMO. So I think you were just really unlucky so far.

I think it's not getting into the lightning rounds earlier. That's where the vast majority of my 3 star covers came from. With the way FB sharing worked when it came out, you got crazy amounts of ISO to level them, too.

My path to "top dog" started when I found the game at the beginning of October. Believe it or not the 3* beast in the early days was Loki. He was unbeatable and I spent my first two weeks making pulls and finally getting Loki only to have the devs nerf him the very next day. My irritation at that led me to find the forum and the good advice from those early posters. Over the entire month of October and November I pretty much made MPQ my game of choice and took any and every opportunity to farm ISO and win prizes. I even mindlessly mined one of the very early prologue levels for 20 ISO and the occasional boost while standing in line at the grocery store. My irritation early in the thread is the idea that a player who hasn't put in the time or the money to make themselves competitive shouldn't come up with alternatives to make it faster for them over those who played earlier. Like so many things I have found worthwhile if I put the effort into gaining what I want I can usually get it. Many of the more recent posters want things that they could get if they put in the effort, instead they ask for shortcuts as the OP did. As for the idea it is more difficult now that there are "top dogs" around it is only really true in the Lightning Rounds if you have your heart set on getting one of the villain covers. If you are willing to battle your way to the 100 point prize you will pick up 500 or so ISO and a cover pull. Not bad for 30 minutes work. For most of the recent players ISO feasts like The Hunt and The Hulk didn't exist and the amount of everything you can get from these events just by playing is crazy good. Should you be able to compete with a "top dog" after a month, not likely. That's true of any endeavor the bonus about MPQ is no matter how much of a "top dog" I am there is a finite cap to how much of a "top dog" I can be. Once my Bag Man is maxed then I will be done. For those who want to make themselves competitive this forum is full of road maps on how to do it and by the new names I see in matchmaking and the leaderboards they are doing it. What I would like to see less of is give it to me now instead of let me go earn it, or buy it.

Wow I guess its not possible for you to not make a flame post. I didn't ask for short cuts.If anything when the Facebook exploit was in full swing from what I read that was the true short cut because no one now could get 10k or more is for free with no effort to level toons.Massive shortcut. Asking the Devteam to implement level bracketeted tournaments just lelevels the playing field or at the very minimum remove the boost in lightning rounds from the 3 star and give it Tina 1 or 2 star toon so that more people have a chance at acquiring these guys.

I'm not asking for the game to be handed to me.When lightning rounds are up and I play the whole time and are at the bottom and I read how those up top are destroying teams in 3 to 4 rounds how can you not see this as unfair.Its easy to say its fair when you are at the top looking down.

And really I don't understand why posts can't be answered with constructive criticisms instead of getting flamed by walls of text about how we should L2p and grind it and and we just want the game handed to us when that's not the case.Less hostility from some of the more high level players will go a long way to making a good community.

I came in after all the Facebook farming and early tweaks, and still have been able to build my way into a really strong roster. It was only after 4-6 weeks of consistent play (I play a LOT) that I was able to start placing in Lightning Rounds. My first villian (Doom) came from a token that I won playing other events. He enabled me to begin placing better in the Doom round, and now he's built up. Now I'm riding his back in the Ragnarok rounds and placing very high even without having a high level Ragnarok.

Sure, it can be tough to place where you want sometimes, and it can be disheartening to see some high level players blitzing the Lightning Round just for the HP when they don't really need the covers, but I came in after all the "top dogs" you keep referring to and by listening to the advice they've given I've still been able to succeed despite facing the same challenges you do.

Keep grinding and learning the best ways to farm and build your team and you will get there. As someone who has pulled it off without the advantages you're upset about, I can tell you it's very doable. That may be why you feel like you're getting flamed, as there are many like me who climbed up the hard way and don't like being told that the only reason they have a good team is that they got a free ride. We didn't - you shouldn't either.

That being said, I hope you stick with the game, enjoy the challenge of fighting your way up the ladder, and keep taking advantage of all the great information that people post here. Good hunting!

This. I posted how frustrated I was on November 20th. I had been placing at the top of a bunch of tournaments. Totally on a roll. I had earned close to 4k HP in the previous 2 weeks. I decided it was time to take a serious shot at the lightning rounds. I wanted to win my first red Ragnarok, and I was going to invest some HP in him. I got wiped twice trying to get to 100 points. Nor could I get anywhere in whatever other tournament was going on at the time. This is when I decided to try tanking. And truthfully, if I hadn't, I don't think I'd still be playing, which is why it concerns me that they are trying to "fix" tanking without making corresponding adjustments to keeping ratings from getting too high or getting into matchmaking ruts were you see the same 6 people again and again.

I also took a hard look at my roster. I hit on a character combination that no one was talking about (fotm was Thor/storm/flunkie still, before her yellow change), and I suspect, very few were using at the time, though you will see a ton of them in the Avenger tournament this week, Thor and Wolverine.

Long story short, I fought my way to a top 8 Ragnarok finish, and this became a completely different game after that point. That one red cover plus an investment of the HP I had saved up, made it possible to compete in anything else. I was never part of the FB farming craze, so my roster isn't maxed out like some of the others (only 2 at max on my roster, neither 3*), but I've been able to compete. Breaking into being able to compete in the Lightning rounds is the closest thing this game has to a pay wall, and it nearly drove me away.

Yeah misguided. I've still never really tanked intentionally. I started during 1st Pve event but didn't participate in events til juggernaut. Every time I go into a lightning round or a tourney I am fighting maxed third rags mags and whatever else. Hardly ever any break. It really disgusts me to be honest that I will fight through whatever us thrown at me in an attempt for 10th (with my 85 Thor 102 rags and 55 storm) and after instances like the grey widow tourneys where I came top 15 and barely missed the green gs's each time then come on forums and people are saying they went to sleep and woke up with a top 5 finish. I will do everything possible before bed then wake up with 45-60 minutes in whatever tourney at whatever time and still can't compete against people who r asleep because I'm being attacked by 10 people and they are asleep. I make top 50 in almost every lightning round fighting maxed villains and not tanking and I never got any Facebook ISO so yeah been wondering how every1 else got all these 141's when I have not cs close even through hours of grinding and some spending. This mmr and rubber banding system may very well be the apsolute worst points and rankings system in the history of video games. I refuse to start tanking and I refuse to take advantage if **** rubber banding. When a new event releases I'll be the 1st to farm it and I'll farm it down to 0 points or until the game stops letting me get points. That's how you are supposed to play to win. If this mmr **** isn't sorted soon I'll be 1 more paying customer that it forces away.

My game played started back in early October and this was back when you needed (50 covers of storm to max her out). I think I have dumped about 50 bucks on this game just to pull a rag. The thing you could do to do better in lighting rounds is to tank your team. Put a bag man, Dark Avenger Black Widow or some other low level group together and fight one match and forfeit. Go read a book or surf the web for a day when you come back you will see a huge difference in the completion and that is how I was able to win lighting rounds. I no longer need and of the covers for the villain's so I don't go after the top spots anymore but I do farm for ISO until I hit 250.

Not suggested to go for a whole day being as it's been modified and is continually being modified to not be such an easy bypass.

He's right just tank after you get to 100 points then repeat at every lighting round also tank on the shield training if you can with the same team.
