Tomorrow's daily update will feature some changes to the following abilities...

Venom – Devour
• Each major upgrade increases damage when under the web tile requirement by 50% of base damage. Fully upgraded it does 300% of base damage which is an increase overall.
• There are no longer upgrades that decrease the number of web tiles required for instant-kill. It is a static 6.
• The last upgrade no longer downs the entire enemy team, nor does it increase the web tile requirement to 8.

Hawkeye (Classic) – Take Aim
• Level 1 now restricts valid targets to basic Purple tiles.
• Level 2 adds Red.
• Level 3 adds Yellow.
• Level 4 adds Blue and Green.
• Level 5 adds Black and Protect.
• AP cost reduced from 18 to 8.

Shame it takes away Venoms ultra-kill. I never got the chance to use it.c icon_neutral.gif

  • I feel like most people never got to use it.
Heck, my spidey doesn't even have his stun. D:

It's nice to see that they are tweaking characters, though I wished they would do more than 1-2 at a time.
  • I think the venom change will be interesting, although it's a shame to see the team kill go as I never got to see it, and I wish I had seen it just once icon_e_biggrin.gif

Honestly I have no opinion on the classic hawkeye change as I got rid of mine in my second week of playing and never looked back lol

I know where you're coming from but since these characters get teamed up they have to keep balance in mind. Too many changes at once could lead to some crazy, unintended results.
  • For the game in general I feel venom was fine. In a 1* tournement he might be a tad too strong. That said, I think while it wasn't necessary it wasn't completely unwarranted. Though I expect the reasoning was a tad less balance and a tad more "he let's low level players compete too well without advancing." Which is the reason I think storm was nerfed more so than her ability being horribly overpowered (it surely was quite strong though). As for Hawkeye..I am not sure anybody cares lol..but he was kinda the odd man put of the 1* and was noticeably weaker..the HUGE ap change should help.

Maybe its a sign of more low level content to come for newer players? I think that would be wise of them, as long as it doesn't come at the expense of mid and high level content though.

I like both changes; been trying to convince my brother to give the game a go, and the Hawkeye change in particular seems like a great one for people starting out in PvE where countdown tiles are the main threat.
Does seem silly when henchmen drop damaging countdowns turn after turn but single countdown counters require 6+ turns of saving.

Venom sounds like the 1-star heavy-hitter now if I'm reading correctly, which is certainly welcome - particularly if the PvE rewards stay the same and players are guided into Venom > Wolverine/Storm as a combo.
  • Venom, I will miss devouring whole teams. True I did that only in PVE events, in particular 2nd Red ISO, but it was really fun way to deal with repeatables icon_mrgreen.gif

Hawkeye, I haven't used him in such long time... the cost reduction is great, so maybe he will be now viable option in 1-star team when doing prologue.
  • I dont know thought... with criticals being nerfed in the previous update, I'm not sure Hawkeye's changes will do much. And getting 8 web tiles on the board is a heroic feat icon_mad.gif
  • Next Venom heroic is going to destroy me. Reduced AP cost might make hawkeye worth using in pve jungle missions where nobody is buffed and the mission doesn't require a particular character in front.

    aka never
  • Changes look okay, but not enough to make them that viable in PVP. It was Venom's purple that they needed to change, otherwise his 34 level cap **** him. But Venom at least will be more useful when the next Venom or DA repeat comes along.
  • I would be curious how well a Hawkeye/Bullseye "Murderous Aim" rush strategy would work now that Hawkeye's Take Aim is reasonably priced. Maybe paired with an Original Widow to get purple & black AP quicker thru Espionage.

Of course, I sold my starter Hawkeye a long time ago...
  • The 2 characters with the lowest health in the game on the same team? That doesn't sound like a very good idea at all. Maybe fun to try out. But who needs to die from Murderous Aim? Rags? He can kill Hawkeye in like 2 Thunderclaps.

I like the changes. I did like Venom's Devour -- eat entire team, but only used it a few times for fun. But I never relied on it. By the time it could be set up, the game was long won, and this was just a cool finisher.

Murderous Aim opens up a crit tile strategy. Not that the AI would ever be able to use it properly. With Magneto Classic and some other character with tile control, it should be possible to make Crit tile placement a viable strategy.

Three squishy, squishy characters... maybe PvE, but PvP will get you destroyed in retaliations.
  • Hawkeye changes makes him more attractive for newcomers for low level PvE.

These two dudes are 1-star... don't expect it to shake up the tourney scene at all XD

Edit: DumDumDugn should be very pleased though.. judging by the other thread.
  • I don't like the Venom change. Instakill made him at least theoretically useful. I could never make it work, even with Spidey, but still.

Now Venom is totally useless. icon_e_sad.gif
  • Between the changes to boosted crits and these changes, I smell a "1-stars are boosted big time" tourney coming soon.
  • I still think Level 5 Snare should put 2 web tiles on the board. Especially if they do away with team Devour and increase the cost of individual Devour.

On Nom Nom was such a fun skill to use. It was much easier to use on the Jungle stage with buffed crits for environmental tile matches -- 3 x Jungle ability = 15 purple, blue, black -- enough for that Team Chomp. Very sad to see it go. icon_e_sad.gif
  • Looks like we will have a 1 star tourney this weekend
