The joke is no longer funny; end death brackets.... now!

2* roster, S3 if I hit 600 points I was in T100 easy. Last night it put me tied for 85 with two hours remaining, had to push to 700 to get T50: this is a score in season 4 that always put me in top 25. I hit top 25 several times in a row at the end of S3 and all the events between seasons. I have yet to hit top 25 in Season 4.
Like others, 1K was top 10 in my bracket. 1.5K was top 3. Something has changed for sure...I still think it might be True Healing. Previously, casual players could play whenever they wanted, for essentially as long as they wanted. Now you have to play on D3's time: I believe many were true to their word, and simply quit.
So all those casuals are gone, and the (probably fewer) brackets are full of hardcore players instead. Less people means less brackets means more competition for top5 in those fewer brackets. More competition for those scores means more pushing (higher scores needed), meaning more death brackets where tons of points are needed for top 10.0 -
I doubt that it has anything to do with healing. Nothing really changed with the brackets/score averages when healing changed. This all started exactly when season 4 started.
and the reason you had an even harder time last night was because Deadpool was the prize, so naturally everyone and their mother was trying extra hard to get more of him. This happens every time a newer character is the prize.0 -

Lately, I am having so much fun. It must be because I stopped caring for the game. No more hunting for top 5 and the 4 covers. I ignored the Deadpool pve and last night I gave up on the pvp that had him as reward. When I reached 735 and #13 I stopped playing and put a 8h shield thinking that if I got a top 25 I would be more than happy. Today I saw #37 which meant I received my first Deadpool cover. No frustration, no throwing stuff, nothing. The game is dead for me. I play 30 minutes/day when I care about a pvp and that's it. #10 in my bracket had 1014 so I'm not sure it qualifies for a death bracket title, but 1k+ for top 10 needs a lot more time than I am willing to put into a match 3 game. I just hope they keep releasing characters I don't care about since this is the most fun I've had in the last 8 months.0

Yeah, sounds like that's probably for the best if it was getting you upset to the point of throwing things. I'd quit too if I was doing that.0

for those who still do not believe in death bracket, I just joined a 'fresh' bracket and the leader is already sitting on 799 points. He has a 770 points lead over me... I do not believe a 500 players bracket takes 2 hours+ to fill, so this is tinykitty lame as hell.0

I followed locked's lead and jumped in early - I didn't get what you'd call an easy bracket (top 10 was 1500-950) but it was nothing like the bloodbath some of you (and guys in my alliance) found yourselves in.0
-
It's random. I jumped early and I'm in Gypsy's bracket, with another X-Man and two 5DS, plus various top 50 alliance members. I guess the sharding algorythm changed to something like "pit 7-8 high score players against each other for top 5, let'em spend for shields"...0

2000 points, at an average of 30 points a battle, is about 67 battles assuming you never get attacked. At an average of 5 minutes per battle, that's about 6 hours of Puzzle Quest in a single tournament.
Holy crud, that sounds exhausting...0 -

True healing has had more effect on boost usage than on healing packs. People boost to get out of a battle quick and without much damage. The rare healing pack is only used when something goes very wrong.0

Actually among all of the super high scoring players I assure you that every one of them is using +3y/r +3g/b +3 all in every single match once they reach the shield hopping phase of their tournament. Nobody plays without max boosts at a high score. You don't have time to go out with a high score and not end the match in 2 minutes.0 -
The real question for me is why the sharding is so extremely primitive. On the one side you have brackets that win the whole thing with 700 and on the other side there are brackets where you need at least 1100 to top10. There is absolutely no middleground. Nobody who is transitioning 2-3 has any chance to win any of those. There need to be brackets where all the people with the 110-140 3 Star Rosters are in.
That's just very lazy programming. One would think if they got rid of the timebased brackets for good they could put you in brackets that are exactly right for you but that's apparently too tall an order.0 -

I've been generally getting more middleground than some - I got top ten with a little over 900 (I think #8 at 928), and my roster tops out at 140. The trouble is, there's not a lot of us in the in-between place, and probably most people are only here briefly.0 -
PPPlaya wrote:(conspiracy theory: Maybe that's the goal all along. Put all newcomers into supercushy brackets until they are too invested to quit and then throw them into the death brackets to force them to spend money)
This certainly might apply to my experience. I was having a blast and placing well until I got a number of 2*s maxed out. Since that, I'm now up against 166+ teams and can't win anything.0 -

Look around in your bracket. Whenever I checked out the people above and below me everyone had maxed 3* Characters. All the way up to place 50. If you see lots of people with unmaxed chars then you may indeed be in the middle somewhere but in my brackets i usually can't find a 2 Star team in the top50. And I only have a 114 Suicide Patch.
Also my MMR should be absolutely terrible since I have around 3k Season points and never placed in the top25 this season. So I have honestly no idea what is going on.0
