Best fix for Deadpool server outage

Best fix I am thinking is to push the rewards for the Deadpool PVE and Thor PVP events up in each level.

    i.e
    1st - 1-10
    2nd - 11 - 25
    3rd - 26 - 75
    4th - 76 - 150

This way anyone claiming to have just missed out will be appeased and we can start fresh on our next events.

    -reduces tickets
    -simplifies compensation
    -makes player base satisfied

This is not a bad idea, but in my opinion it should be only valid for pvp.

The pve event had finished and those who were logged could actually see their final results. So if there was still someone playing, points would not been counted.

For pvp things are different. I cannot imagine someone coming from position 100 to position 1, but definitely changes in the top 5 and top 25 would occur and here is where difference matters, else one would get 1 cover only. And increasing the range in the rank for covers could compensate a lot the issue, as chages in position might have happened but nothing dramatic, so you would still have the prize for the range you were in.

The downside of that is that if you were counting on making more points like me, I wanted to imporve not necessarely for the pvp, but for the overall of the season, as 100 or more points can make a dramatic change in the end of the season, much more than they do in simple pvp.

Another point. Though I am not doing sim, there is a considerable amount of people doing it daily and shielding. Basically nobody knows when it's coming back, so tese people can be hardly affected, when the first ones are able to log and attack.

Truth is that there is nothing wrong in complaining and I am also mad with the situation, but we should also be honest with our requirements and I don't think that asking for compensation for pve would be a fair thing.

if you're still at the level of being unshielded and fighting at the last hour, you probably weren't going to rank that high anyway)
I disagree, but rank isn't really the point. The deadpool last day was a nonstop grindfest. I barely touched PvP. I don't care about the Hood covers, so expanding the rank awards doesn't interest me. What I do care about is the 300+ points I would've gotten in that last hour. Without them, my Season rank is screwed.

PVE is fine, no compensation needed.

I agree with you here. No point of compensating pve.

A LOT of guys in my alliance are late pushers though, and I'm sure several others also. The Thor PVP got royally screwed. Even expanding the the prize tiers by 5-10 spots isn't nearly enough for the guys that go hard during the last hour of a PVP. Considering the magnitude of the screw up, I think expanding prize tiers by 25-50 spots would be the best thing for them to do.

At this point in the game, I can't imagine a lot of people are spending HP to finish their Hood builds, so why not just expand the tiers and try to make your players happy?

BTW, my hood is already maxed, so makes no difference to me, but I would be extremely upset if I was 1-2 covers away and was planning a late push.

There are a lot of late pushers in all places. But on the other hand we also know that the very last hour the longer you attack, the more you also get attacked. So effectively if you would be below 900 points, you could get up to 100 to 150 points with good hoping and a very quick game. If you would be above that you would be lucky to get 100. Of course exceptions exist and I am sure many of these exception will appear now. The biggest battle is to be part of the top 25, looking at the big picture. So I am pro expanding the spots, but expanding them to much would have also not been realistic to the real game. The proposal of Grenosh sounds quite fair in my opinion and looking how the game developed in the end.

I still don't have all covers for the hood and for sure I would like to have. But all my covers I have acquired by real and honest playing, never bought one. I just want to have the feeling I earn them. But again, this is my personal opinion.

And Tacos: congratulations on your personalized pve. it should be cool to have an event, which the main character is naming your alliance. I hope you guys have enjoyed the feeling. Congratulations
  • They extended the rewards for the Daken PvE.

I think they should compensate for the server outage.

I spent a lot of HP to rank high. So, it would be only fair...

    ^This.

I was one of a very small group that was on the cusp of getting a Deadpool cover, and the fight I was in likely would have pushed me into the under hundred range overall. Instead I ended up number 104. Granted it might not have worked out, but I stood to gain over 500 points from that last fight so I'm sayin' there was a chance.

Thanks, we wanted to win this one BAD, but SHIELD got us in the end. We're still really happy with our performance though.
  • So the event ending and the reward server kicking on to start passing out goodies while everyone was still playing their last minute matches and hitting PVP is what killed it?
  • We talked about this in alliance. Our view the only fix that is fair is to give everyone all three hood covers whether or not they were close to them AND to not count points towards season totals[.

Most of us would just prefer a bunch of hp as we've had maxed hood for months but there are some who would certainly rather have 1 or 2 hood covers to a few hundred hp.

Extending the event screws over everyone who was 'shielded til the end'

Exactly. I squeezed in one last match (I was hoping to hang onto my #9 spot), finished, got the notice with my points for the event and then .... So the servers certainly crashed after the event was over. I know it is frustrating, but I agree, I don't think anyone's ranking would be affected by it. This was such a competitive event I found that my spot was pretty much locked all day today no matter how much I played. I, for one, would be a little miffed if a bunch of people got free Deadpool covers out this -- makes me look pretty foolish for setting my alarm to go off so I could drop everything and play for max points every few hours. I am such a nerd.

Not necessarily. With 3 minutes left in Deadpool, I was in 83rd place and pretty locked in, so I chose to get one more Thor battle in before the hordes came over. I won my battle, checked the standings, saw I was in 24th, and backed out to shield when the server crashed. This morning, those 30 points were not in my score and I was back down to 32nd place.

My point is that while you may have finished an attack before the server crashed, there is no guarantee that the server processed anything from the last 5 minutes.

Deadpool tournament was unaffected. All prizes for that are the prizes you would've gotten anyway.

Thor tournament prizes are basically completely bunk. You can be 200 points at the start of the hour and 900 points at the end. Anyone who usually pushes in the last hour (which is pretty much everyone) was affected. I already have hood covers, but I wanted to push to 600 to get the 50hp. I was not able to reach 400 before the sever crashed, so I missed out on getting any HP at all.
  • The PvE wasn't affected as has been written. The server died after the event ended
However the PvP was very much affected. I normally do 400-500 in the last hour or two, so I ended up w 500 instead of 1100 like normal
Best solution: don't count lord of thunder in S4 standings. Possibly extend S4 by one whole PvP event if they need a certain event count
  • I agree. The PVE would have gone largely unchanged so any compensation should be minimal if at all.

I like the idea of dropping LoT from the season score. I do feel for those who spent resources with the expectation it would count, but it seems to be the fairest to me. I know my Alliance had some late run players still way down from their standard point totals and that is going to sting us if the event counts to season score. I personally was within 20 points of 25th at the time of the outage and had 60-70 easy points on the table plus resources to burn with 3 full health teams and 4+ health packs. Again, no guarantee I would get there but losing the opportunity here has cost me greater than in PVE due to the timing and the fact that I had amassed my resources for this instead of the PVE.

I don't demand compensation. There is no simple fix. Somebody will start a D3 hate thread no matter what they do in the aftermath. That said, it would be in their interest to find some way to acknowledge the issue with compensation to the player base that supports them. If that is extending reward tiers, then fine. I'd probably be happy if i can get some tokens (1 x 3* would be awesome but more realistically a few heroic), some HP and a chance to earn those Hood covers I missed out on again.

edit - just read the rewards post from Lakestone. 1 token TaT, 2 tokens LoT. No mention of HP or Iso. I'm alright with that, I think.
  • The servers went down at the exact moment that the Deadpool event ended. It wasn't a minute or two before. The time was ZERO, and the event box began to close, and then it crashed. Even if you were in mid-match when it happened, it would have been too late for you to get points for that match. It was over and done. No one lost a single thing on that event and so no one is deserving of any special treatment regarding it.

From our anecdotal end at the moment it looks like they went unstable at literally the last minute so for Deadpool, it affected a small subset of people that were trying to get in that one single last match.

So yeah, you know better kiddo icon_lol.gif

And only fair solution would be this one mentioned by LoreNYC, especially part about season score. For me it could be difference between top100 and top50 for example.
