Are people seeing sharding to the extreme or is it just me?

  • Sometimes the covers are needed to respec.

I have respecced several characters lately, thanks to the won covers.

Keep in mind that in terms of ISO gain for those that don't need the covers:

    Top 5 Placement = 5000 Placement ISO + 1500 Cover Sales ISO = 6500 ISO
    Top 1 Placement = 5000 Placement ISO + 2500 Cover Sales ISO = 7500 ISO

Further, top scoring players are often members of the top scoring alliances, which can net up to 5500 additional alliance ISO, for a grand total of 13,000 ISO from every 2.5 day Versus event.

Absolutely no one will say "no" to 13,000 free ISO from every Versus event on top of ISO earned from progression and cover sales obtained inside the event to enable that top placement and resulting ISO rewards.

That's exactly the explanation for bloodbaths lately. ISO is so expensive that we fight hard to grind some as hard as we can...

Any chance they could add a button that lets people pass on the prize covers? Anyone who does that gets 1000 extra Iso per cover earned and all the covers slide down 1 spot.

So a top 5 placement would earn 5000 + 3000 if covers were passed on and it pushes 3 covers to top 6, 2 covers to top 26 and 1 cover to top101.
I like this idea, despite knowing how difficult this is to implement.

Suppose #1 passes on the covers, but #2 has already claimed his/hers, so that would go to #3? So they just keep going downward until someone who hasn't claimed his tourny prizes? And what happens #2 passes his/hers on first before #1 did? urgh.

Agree. It would be impossible to manage this.

Alternatively, they can allow us to "gift" the cover to another person.

But I doubt they will do that. The main purpose of the rewards is to cap it at top 5% to top 20%. If they allow gifting, then it will break their % of people receiving the covers.

I was thinking a button when you enter, so decision is made up front. But I agree, implementation would be difficult, but maybe somebody out there knows an easy way to make this happen.

Don't have a screenshot, but with 15 minutes remaining #10 is 923, the others all over 1000. Barely top 100'd last PVP, and every time I break 600 in this one I get beat down below it immediately. At 609 I had to skip about 20 times to find a roster that didn't have all three members over 94. This is crazy, just put me in a completely random bracket and it wouldn't be this bad every time.

Nope, clearly the sharding is as gentle as could be.

Ha, I was just about to post that screenshot.

Our bracket was just... so unpleasant.
  • Why someone pass down covers to someone they don't know or that's on their alliance?

    1. Why would I want to help someone else just so it bites me in the derriere with more competition down the road?

    2. What you are going through is what everyone rise had already gone through. In have lots of sympathy for newbies and transitioning rosters. However, I've about has it with all these misplaced expectations. You should not expect to beat players that have put in a lot more time and work then you. You should be measuring your performance with rosters similar to yours. More importantly, you're not going to have the best roster overnight. It takes a long time even for the more experienced players.

In going to get sick of I keep hearing, I have about 4-5 maxed 2*'s and a few 3* covers but I can't win pvps or her a lot of 3* covers on each PvP. This is how everyone before you fared in pvps with the similar roster, and that's how you should be doing.

The footing is more equal (or to the advantage of lower rosters) in pve's. This is where a lot of 3* covers are going to come at first. You have a bigger advantage in this sense BC they used to run these events less frequently in the past.

Once you have your first maxed 3* you'll start doing better in pvps and things will start snowballing for you. The better you roster, the more time you have invested, the better you will do, just like the better players do now.

The ones really suffering are the better players, who continue to be penalized for investing their time in the game.

Oh man! your top 5 was ONLY 1352!??!

    uOSlUwrl.png

Lucky! icon_evil.gif Seriously though. this is **** ****. Having these scores be the barrier for top 5 is ridiculous! I shudder to think of what this deadpool cover pvp is going to show. We need to cause an uproar again over this and get them to change it back like they did before because I am done. I don't give a **** anymore.

This is my first time trying to aim for top 5 in such kind of death brackets.
    2u44foj.png

But comparatively, it is still *slightly* easier than the others. My target was 1300 (for the yellow xforce) and I stopped after I met the target. Was fortunate that I could hit gipsydanger 2 times. If someone has hop over me, I would have let them this time round.

I expect Cat-5 to be worse. If I get into such death-ish brackets again, I *probably* would just stay below the radar and get my 800 and leave it as it is.

I've tried starting late and during off-times, but it doesn't matter anymore because of sharding.

I've given up trying for Top 5 anymore and just want Top 25 for the full cover spread with alliance prize. But even that is becoming difficult to obtain. The last few events, 900 has been needed in these ultra-gentle brackets to scrape the bottom of the Top 25.

For Cat-5, I'm expecting 1000 for the first time to be required for Top 25.

With so many Sentries out there now, as the de facto method of scoring post 900/1000 and with Sentry shield hopping blessed by the devs, scores will continue to creep higher and higher in the long-term as long as people are willing to engage in shield hopping.

The devs must be loving the HP spend on shields with required Sentry shield hopping as the current top-of-the-bracket meta.

I am seeing the same thing. Every event this season has put me into a tough bracket, so I don't think it's just about joining at a bad time. I think sharding is back with a vengeance. At the end of season three, when they seemingly fixed sharding the first time, 800-900 was usually good for top 5, and certainly top 10. This season, it has been about 1000+ for top 10 in most of my brackets. Does anyone have screenshots of "easy brackets"? That would probably consist of anything with a top 5 or top 10 at least in the 800-900 point range.

I have taken screenshots of my bracket at various timing, to note down the process of the development of the death brackets.

Basically with sentry shield hopping, it becomes a matter like a game of chicken - how much shields are you willing to spend until you "chicken" out. There is no real limit to your scores as long as you are willing to hop.

I think it's also worst now that more people has max sentry. I just gotten my max sentry last pvp... I wonder whether that explains why I was put in a death bracket (hmm... conspiracy theory crafting....)

Aren't you the one who was screwed for the past few pvp death brackets?

    Looks like there's still hope!

Screwed might be too strong a term but that score would definitely not be in the top 10 in my last couple of brackets (not including LoT).

It's not Sentry icon_razz.gif I have him maxed since the beginning of S4, and my brackets haven't been too death-y, at least not for covers I cared about. I even came top 5/10 unshielded in some events this season.
