How to get enough hero points to keep up roster size?

Hi all,

I'm a relatively new player, and I'm running into this issue where I can't seem to get enough hero points to expand my roster to keep up with the amount of new covers that I'm getting. My current strategy is to just not use any recruit tokens so I don't get any new covers, but I was wondering how you guys dealt with this issue. Playing prologue seems counterproductive since there are a ton of new covers that I simply don't have space for. Did you just delete the characters that you never used? (I'm guessing bagman and yelena belova are terribad, but the random event buffs would make it seem like I should hold onto these as they will be a pain to get later on).

  • I deleted characters rarely. I played a very different prologue than you though with cheaper slot unlocks. It's much harder for newbie now than when I started.
  • There are quite a few 50 HP awards in the prologue, including 4 in the Hammer chapter. Have you gotten them all?
  • You get a lot of HP in the prologue missions so not playing them is hurting you I think. I played through a second time after the price increase for slots (and a lull in new content) and found I did pretty well but I am more slot constrained than I am with my main account that I started on day 1. I did delete bag-man and bullseye and have placed highly in some tournaments for HP (and some more covers I needed to make room for). The match up system is pretty slick to allow me to compete with pretty low level teams. Put pretty much all of my ISO in Thor to give the team a chance.

$5 on hero points early on gives you like 6 slots, which lets you collect without deleting pretty effortlessly

I'm currently at 9 covers and have gotten near the middle/end of the venom chapter. The problem is that the missions that I'm on would reward me with juggernaut/cstorm covers, which i don't have space for. I got a random wolverine and bullseye from recruit tokens, and I'm thinking of dropping those since I doubt I'm going to get any more of those covers soon.

I would not drop wolverine because he's very good and you get a few covers in the prologue for him. I would drop bullseye though, he should not be your primary focus. Perhaps first participate with him in the dark avengers tourney (to win more wolverine icon_e_wink.gif )and then drop him.

That tourney seems extremely hard when my team is a level 9 moonstone, level 6 bullseye, and level 5 yelena >.<

I would give it a shoot, in your 'elo'-range I think most of the teams will not be much better. Just take a look ^^
  • Do NOT delete wolverine (assuming you mean the 2* version). Juggernaut is pretty good starting out, but you will have tons of chances to get more covers for him later.

    Never delete wolverine...

As for HP , replay all missions with them available as prizes..and then just do it until you get the coins.

Maybe for the very first slot purchases, but it doesn't take long before it won't even give you 2 slots

My current roster (most maxed out on levels given the covers i have) is:
level 27 black widow (max 40), level 25 iron man 35, level 20 modern storm, level 16 thor, level 9 moonstone, level 6 chawkeye, level 6 bag-man, level 6 bullseye, level 6 wolverwine, and level 5 yelena. Should I be deleting any of these for the juggernaut?

The current covers I have in standby are loki and juggernaut.
  • To be honest, I haven't even finished prologue yet. Jumped straight into PVP. Can't remember what it used to be, but top 25 now gives 50 HP + 50 HP from the low tiered reward.
  • I deleted several juggernaut, yelena, and daken covers early on. You'll have plenty of opportunity for juggs and yalena from standard tokens later. For example, I have a 5/5 yelena and still haven't completed most of the PvE mission where you get her covers as a reward.

    Do *NOT* delete Wolverine.

Get rid of bag man or c.hawkeye. I used hawkeye early on to kill countdown tiles, but it wasn't long before he became useless. I'm pretty sure mine still sits at level 15.

IM35, Widow, Storm will get you through most of the PvE if you continue leveling them up.
  • Tough to say. As I said, you will get many Juggernaut covers from recruit tokens over time. But, personally, I think c.Hawkeye is about as far down the list of usefulness as you can get.

Looking at your roster, I'd work on raising Thor's level and getting his covers from the Venom and Juggernaut maps using your widow/storm/IM if you haven't already.

Pretty much. 1100hp from the prologue missions get you a decent number of spots(what, probably around 7 or 8? from the beginning) but after that it's a long slog between getting the random 50 HP from events to getting lucky with resupply(which I personally haven't).

The only way I was able to not sell new covers constantly was to drop around $20 mainly on roster size(and a couple of heroic packs before their price doubled) to get me up to around 18 or so. I don't think you NEED that many, but I prefer to keep my options open in a game like this. Which seems like a pretty good idea with the way character buffing and nerfing has gone.

The 7 days to claim a cover thing really sucks. It would be much more beneficial to just have a limited inventory space to work with rather than the super push to IAP.

Hm, I should be leveling up my widow/storm/IM still though right? It seems like they're going to be my main PvE team for a while.

I would replace IM with Thor as soon as you can. His red skill becomes much cheaper and will out damage IM and his yellow skill is no comparison. For my second run I have Thor at 77 and did not advance IM past 33. I think you are at a pretty good point to switch to Thor.
  • No necessarily, especially Iron Man. I think you are better off replacing IM as soon as possible on your main team with Thor, who hits like David Ortiz using juggernaut for a bat. For what it is worth, all three of your main guys are higher level than mine are already. You should be able to get through most of the PvE content at those levels, then you can use iso on Thor and classic storm instead. Modern storm is very good, though, so putting more into her isn't a bad idea by any means. At some point it comes down to preference.
  • You've been told about 3 times already but I'm going to echo the do not delete ** Wolverine sentiment. He's better than some of three star characters.
