So... What the hell is up with skipping and MMR?

My theory: Both Balance of Power and Combimed Arms have a leveling effect on MMR, as lower level players begin competing against rosters they couldn't normally compete against. Everyone gets averaged out. Afterwards, formerly high MMR players see easier opponents and formerly low MMR ones see tougher ones on average. Also, this rapid change in MMR gives a subset of players a chance to end up in weird new MMR bubbles with few other opponents.

Besides just a terrible algorithm, I've been thinking that this is another symptom of something I've been suspecting for a while: bad random number generation.

Also, I believe server lag with RND. I say this, because if I race through opening a bunch of standard tokens at once (tapping though at like 3 per second), I will hit something like 4 purple moonstones in a row. Something that realistically should not happen on standard tokens, as she is a 2* and then the same cover.

8 hours before end of event I was trying to climb to my usual 600 from 240 pts. Generally it is an effort for 45 minutes. It took me double that time. I was encountering teams worth 23 points max, disregarding how much did I 'pay' for skipping. I on the other hand noticed the diversity, no longer I was facing maxed characters (either 2* or 3*), I was encountering very mixed rosters all the way up.

Just the other way around for me; started out with maxed 2*s then very jarringly dipped into maxed 1*s (!!) offering only 5 or so points for a few match suggestions. After purging those from my queue I was left with an ocean of nothing but max 3* teams.

I still managed to scrape by on the occasional lower level team (that was actually at my own level) and placed top 35. I figured that would be enough for a top 100 placement if the 166 wall was starting at as low a score as it had. So I popped an 8 hour shield (playing from Europe is as much a pain in the rear as it is in the wallet...) and left it at that. Lo and behold; I finished 103rd, with close to 70 players still passing me by thanks to point build up in the later hours and somehow not being stone-walled by 166s.

Something was completely screwy with the MMR this event, if you ask me...

I had that entire last season. Fun transitioning when only cover to gain comes from PvE progression + second for lowest place 'maybe' if I grind like mad before sleep. What was your final score when you shielded? Around 500?
