Who else built a team around Patch... And is now busted?

For people that built entire teams around Patch, the level update may have completely **** that up. I.e I under levelled hood so that patch would tank yellow.... No longer possible for me after the update.

**** this garbage.

  • Use Patch C. Mag like a normal person.
  • I must be missing something... if they both gained 25 levels, wouldn't patch still be higher leveled?

Let's say you had characters at some level where a character's second strongest color is same as Patch's weakest color.

But after 25 levels to each, the character with the second strongest color gains more than Patch will on his weakest color for 25 levels, so that character get his color over Patch now.

There's no impact on equal strength colors of course, but part of building Patch/Daken requires you to have more than just his strongest 2 colors.
  • For each character different colors scale at different rates. If yellow is Patch's 3rd strongest color other characters who have yellow as their strongest would be scaled differently.

And I am sure those who took the time to plan something like this out ran their secondary characters right up to the line before stopping and it would only take a tiny tweak to send them above patch for that color.
  • Just found kyip's profile. His hood is now up to 62 on yellow, while the most patch will take at level 166 is 61.
My patch is maxed but I never run him with hood since he seems too squishy for his own good.
  • The net effect is that it's awfully hard for you to cover another character's strongest color with anything but another character's strongest color now. It's still possible, but you have to give up a lot of levels to do so.
  • yeah, **** up my secondary teams.
  • Me, just as was kinda expecting.

You would think. It is sound logic and makes sense. However, sometimes in MPQ (especially after updates that has a bug or two), sound logic and making sense are oxymorons.
  • Yeah... Similar thing happened to me. Now my doom tanks all three of his main colors... Above my OBW, who tanks nothing. So much for espionage, at least for this tournament.

    There's always the loaner Doom.
In the Pun tourney I'd sometimes use the loaner in spite of having a Pun that was buffed to 200. He tanked too much and ate health packs.

It's a little amusing (in a sick way) that MPQ has a current group of customers that have been playing for at least 6 months, and continues to make changes at their expense for newer players. This is another example of a really good change for new players, while not giving much thought to the experienced ones.

And adding a decrease level function would have been very little effort but easier to not give a sh.t. After all they sated clearly that you're supposed to level every character to its cap.

Hasbro did the same with Magic the Gathering 3 years ago, as they determined they were making more money from the casual players rather than the competitive ones.

So sometimes I wonder if the newcomers are not more profitable to D3P than veterans, hence the changes.
  • Other people got similarly hosed with OBW -- losing espionage as teammates take over colors due to these extra levels
  • I doubt they'll ever implement a level-down button, but think on the bright side. You can sell your characters for ISO and invest in rebuilding new copies icon_e_biggrin.gificon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah, I seriously considering to Emeryt the roster for good -- doing it properly to keep bagman for last man standing.

Though it's not in my nature, likely just keep not playing and start working on leaving the forums too. All this messing with people and play just stirs my stomach.
  • Wouldn't be surprised if they considered this a plus. Probably didn't like people intentionally under leveling

Yes I think this is definitely the case as its been said many times. They want to monetize players sooner then later so making the casual player experience easier/better is in their interest. Hopefully he wins some tournaments and some covers and sticks around an drops some money then your invested and probably less likely to leave.
