Replaying Mission for Prizes?

Unknown
edited December 2013 in MPQ General Discussion
Is it pointless to replay missions to try getting all the different prizes listed? I've done one mission about 25 times, to get the hero points prize to buy a slot, and have gotten 20 iso's each and every time. The mission shows I've gotten one prize with a green checkmark on it, and the rest are unchecked, but out of 25 times I've gotten just the 20 iso's.

So what is the best way to get hero points? I've got five slots, all filled, with covers sitting expiring waiting for a slot but for days now I have gotten zero hero points to buy slots with.

    Buy them.
  • So I guess I should just quit now and uninstall then since I def will not be spending any $...

Keep trying, you're just having a run of bad luck.

I'm lucky, I prioritized cover slots over anything else before the price went up without advance notice.
  • I'd say try again, but actually tally your attempts on paper or something so you can be sure of how many times you've tried.

25 tries since R42 with only one reward earned has about a 0.000006% chance of happening, I think. If documentation backs that up, it may be time for a bug report... or the lottery.

Alternatively, you can keep playing those PvE missions. They chance for reward at the end will be 50/50. You'd had a string of bad luck.
You can also win HP in tournaments, with a bit of skill and determination.

But if you need HP now. Then the best option is purchase.

This is day two of rerunning that one mission, Imposter. The 25 times estimate is about right I'm thinking. If it's off it isn't off by much.

I've been actively avoiding events, the matchmaking seems to be off, I kept getting matched against people with much higher level units than I have, so haven't done any event missions.

Well...yeah. Why on earth should anyone care about anything you have to say when you aren't a customer of the game?

    What an absolutely ridiculous attitude.

The game needs paying customers, but it also needs a thriving community. Besides, today's free player may be chipping in tomorrow.

It might be the best, but not the only one. I have plenty of HP and I didn't spend anything on the game yet and in fact the longer I play the less I feel need to get HP for cash. I am currently sitting on over 2k (top dogs have 10k+), which is more than I need. In fact ISO became my bottleneck for progression now.

That's really bad luck you have there icon_eek.gif
  • I can honestly say that I've played every storyline mission and won every prize (I'm one of those OCD people icon_lol.gif), so it can be done. Don't give up and just keep trying. icon_e_biggrin.gif You'll get all of the prizes eventually. icon_e_smile.gif I've had a string of bad luck before and played over and over for 20 ISO but, for some reason, once I got one of the prizes that I hadn't gotten yet, I'd get the rest back-to-back. Good luck!

Same here -- I was sitting on nearly 4k until a few minutes ago. Blew 1250 of it to up a 3* skill. I'll blow another 1250 soon, either for that character or another. ISO, on the other hand, is an issue. I try to keep a 10k buffer now so that I can put some levels on a character quickly if I need to -- after that I'm currently leveling IM40 and that's up to >2k/level now.

I will probably buy some HP at some point in the future, but just to say "thanks" to the devs rather than because I need them.

To the OP -- really bad run of luck. Keep going. If you only need 50 HP for another slot then it's worth it.

Also, the odds of getting that last prize used to be much worse. Keep at it.
  • Thanks for the info people, but I'm done with this game now....played last night into this morning and still haven't gotten any HP, and the new event is way over my teams level. My team is all under level twelve and the event starting villains level is 35. So not gonna keep wasting time on this anymore.

What have you done with the ISO from the Prologue? Use that to level your characters, if you do that they won't be under level twelve any more...

Um yeah, actually already used the iso to level my team, and yes, they are all under level twelve. I'd need more covers to use more iso. Moot point since I've removed the app.

This actually tempts me to start a separate game on an unlinked device and see if the game is harder for new players to get started now. I think this may just be one player's run of bad luck and frustration.

I was thinking the same thing when I opened up the steam version today. Then I wondered about what I was doing with my life and decided against it...

Assuming you get 200 ISO-8 for completing a level the first time, and assuming I have counted this correctly, from the Prologue you get:
    Chapter 1: 2600
    Chapter 2: 6800
    Chapter 3: 7900
and then I got bored counting. But that gives you 17,300, and I'm going to assume chapter 4 and 5 give you 8000 each, giving you 33,300 which will get you three 1*s almost to level 30. That's ignoring any ISO from selling covers or Facebook or PVP.
Plus you will have loads of cover tokens. And at least one cover of each colour for Spider-Man, C Storm, Thor, Daken plus all the 1*s I think.
