I wonder if this post by Nonce will get Stickied?

Feels like it should, but if it doesn't, I don't mind bumping back up since the points Nonce raised are relevant

How hard could it be to read this and just fix everything?

added it to the compendium. Sorry it took so long, I have been playing Brave Frontier and have not found anything compelling me to come back yet. I have only been paying half attention to the forums.

I recently found Marvel Heroes and have been loving it for the past week or so - everything about it seems to be the opposite of what you see here. The devs actually post on their forums regularly and seem to take the feedback they get there into consideration, and I don't feel pressured at all to spend money to fully enjoy the game. It's funny, but that (and the fact that the game has been really fun) has actually led me to spend some on it already - there's a Steam sale right now that has some character packs for 50% off, but you can very easily earn enough in-game to buy them after about a week of regular play. I've already unlocked Squirrel Girl through that route (and that's another thing - the character selection is much more varied over there), but I could've spent that earned currency (shards) I used to get her on two random heroes instead if I didn't have such a strong urge to attack people with a mob of squirrels.

Haven't touched this game since (although I was really losing interest in this for the past two months or so - far too much grinding and late-night finishes). I really don't miss it, to be honest. And nope, I'm not some secret shill for Heroes - I'm just really enjoying the fact that I've found something that scratches that Marvel itch better than even Puzzle Quest used to.
Yeah, despite the monitization model being WAY better for F2P players, I've spent an order of magnitude more money on MH because of those points. Hell, I've even bought stuff for it months ago that I haven't touched yet.

Correct me if im wrong but that dev who makes marvel heroes also makes another great f2p game War Of Thunder, a multiple platform game that ps4 and pc users can game with each other.

They have the right business model, everything is free, but its slower. Buy only if you want to quicker.

After months of trying to get a response on the forum route, I've now PM'ed Ice to try to get a response on the Euro end time issue. That was a couple of days ago so to be fair I'm not expecting an immediate response, but complete avoidance of the issue by the dev team on forums and PM's would tell me all I need to know in terms of whether to get out of the game or not.

Even if I was a single guy with no work commitments I'd be getting pretty fed up of the 5am shenanigans by now. A fix doesn't need new servers, it doesn't need other timezones to be penalized, it just needs a bit of an adjustment to event entry screens / mechanics.
That's why we lost a fellow veteran UK player in TheLadder.

    Amongst other things.

It's pretty depressing to see that the issue of end times has not been addressed at all. I'm enjoying getting proper sleep now, although I get up for work every day at 6am anyway. I guess my MPQ career (short-lived as it was), battle hardened me for early mornings.
  • Really close on giving this game a long break, usually they get delete in time.
  • Agree with all the sentiments...it's been difficult losing Alliance members after each season. People get frustrated, burnt out, etc. The whole point of this game was to be FUN...not end up grinding so much that it feels like a second job.
  • Would pvp be better if points earned dont disappear after when attacked? I mean i dont use shields, so for me to get 700 points is really like getting 1000. After losing points over and over. I dont understand how you cant pick your def team yet you get penalized and lose points.

Protip: Your def team is the last team you won a battle with in that particular PvP.
And yeah, lotsa folks hate the fact that by the time you get into the 7-800 range, the attacks start coming in full force, and it's practically impossible to reach 1000 (w/o shield hopping) because you're getting hit for -100 after every +20 battle you do. But if you didn't lose points, it would become too similar to PvE, not necessarily a bad thing, but I'm all for variety in this game.

...Why am I even defending this? I just want permanent, non-competitive PvE. I don't care what else they do.

    It's relentless.

The True Healing nerf no-one asked for.
The nerf to 1* Storm, unannounced. (turns out it was a mistake, and got reverted)
Changes used to be phrased as SHIELD announcements, but that's long gone.
Promised buffs to Hawkeye and X-force, still undelivered 6 months later.
Delivery of the overpowered Sentry, which allows 2-turn kills.
The Level Shift change that no-one asked for.
    Spiderman's double nerf.
Endless repetitive rehash tournaments that are mandatory for all alliance members.
    Server problems all the time.
Horrifying amounts of scaling to punish good play or good luck.
Devs missing from the forums for weeks at a time.
400+ spam messages a week from China.
Almost every new character gets nerfed while being launched.
Spreadsheet errors to justify character changes.
Change after change to support "roster diversity".
The rare improvements, such as faster healing, always seem to be tacked on afterthoughts.
Zero 3* covers yielded from 10packs
Getting a 6th 3* cover ability when none of your 3* characters are even playable
Lowering the probability of getting wanted 3* covers from packs and lobbing it off as "it makes them want it more because it's a gamble"
Roster slots need to be bought 3 at a time.
The comic book game used to have new stories once a month, now once every 3 months: Thick as Thieves (Jan 24), Iso-8 Brotherhood (Feb 25), .... Prodigal Sun (May 16).
Seven new characters brought in without a story, when it used to be that all new characters got a story to introduce them.
Either allowing or being oblivious to the shield-hopping exploit.
Lazy characters -- but you still need to keep the inferior versions for tournaments.
22 hard-to-get Rare characters, 19 that are viable only with all 3 covers, and 3 that should have a 3rd cover to make them viable.
Rubberbanding to make the last hour vital, and European end times so that hour is 5 AM.
    Poor color distributions.

Meanwhile, the userbase is begging for buffs that never arrive. Even the buffs that are promised never arrive. Many of the justifications for various decisions use provably faulty logic, yet the faulty metrics are allowed to overrule any objection. Hundreds of worthwhile suggestions that would make the game better are ignored.

Can't there be a release to make the game better? To add buffs to all the characters that really need them? What is there left to be positive about when the game is degraded so arbitrarily without warning, despite promises that arbitrary unannounced nerfs would never happen again?

EDIT: Some new items D3 has used to hurt player positivity
They used this very post as an excuse to remove me as a moderator.
They've allowed the forums to fill with more spam.
They introduced Team-Ups, to which I dedicated a sonnet
A multiday bug where opponent teams attack at base level, trivializing the game.
Promises of more dev involvement, then they go silent for weeks.

EDIT 2 -- Wow, +100. Streisand effect has kicked in.

This needs to stay in view.

Heh, Streisand effect - I'd never heard of that before. This thread has been entertaining AND educational!
  • Agree with everything on this list.

I've been playing MPQ for ages now, and have spent a fair amount of money unlocking roster slots and even upgrading covers now and then.

I'm losing interest in the game fast, because it's just not fun any more. The combination of all the changes they've made in the past six months has just made the game more and more punishing. True Healing was painful by itself, but not insurmountable. In a way I appreciated the freedom to drop OBW or Spider Man as "required" characters for every match, but taking lots of damage slows everything down. Still, not horrible by itself. Then they added Team Ups, a feature that is not interesting or engaging, but instead just breaks the balance of the game by allowing every AI team access to any overpowered power in the game, with fewer ways to prevent their use than a normal power. You can't prioritize the guy with the overpowered ability when he's just a team up. The result is that my teams take way more damage, and thanks to True Healing that means even less time for fun than before. Now, in Season 5 PvP I can't seem to get matched against anyone who doesn't have at least one level 166 character on their team. Just a note, i have NO level 166 characters. My highest is level 150, and after that is 135. I can still beat those teams with 166s . . . but take lots of damage. Which combined with True Healing means . . . yeah, no fun.

I used to be happy buying stuff in MPQ now and then because I played the game all the time and it was fun. Now it feels more like work than my actual job, and I get paid to do my job, not the other way around. MPQ won't be getting any more money from me until it becomes fun again. I barely play anymore, a couple of matches a day at most. There are loads of other games out there trying to be fun to play, not punish me.

I can't be the only one that feels this way either, as daily logins by my alliance has dropped from 18-19 of 20 each day to 12-14, just since Season 5 started. Way to kill your game D3. Maybe you should listen to what the original poster had to say, instead of removing his CM status.
