It's getting so hard to be positive about MPQ

  • It has been months now since it was mentioned that help should be coming along for the climb into 3* characters, but instead all we get are 'features' that eat more and more into the very limiting health packs.

Pvp is a serious grind fest consisting of a very tired format over and over. One where those not in max level teams are severely limited in what prizes they can achieve; prizes coming more and more diluted.

Pve is a grind fest that puts pvp to shame. Want a meaningful prize? Reschedule your life around 2.5 hr node refreshes and hope beyond hope that some game mechanism hasn't been put in place that will let all the devotion you put into the event be for naught.

The forum now has a favicon! I asked for them to do this, and many months later it was delivered.

Ugh! I used to be able to hide my forums tabs amongst a whole bunch of other document websites I usually have open. Now it kind of stick out! icon_lol.gif
  • When y'all put it like that.....

I will say that it did seem they move slow. However, knowing nothing about making games (including their staff, budget, directives, etc.) They could be moving quickly.

After that video with the developers, I do think it would be interesting to see a week in the life of ampq developer or something like that.

Is the level shift really a bad thing?
  • When the essentially most liked moderator on your forum gets agitated to the point of having to post something like this, you do something about it. Basically firing him is not the intelligent decision here. I recommend and hope that you give him his title back, apologize prefusely to both him and the player base, take this list, and start fixing everything, one by one. I understand that generating money is the name of the game, but an intelligent team could address every issue on that list, and still find the appropriate way to make players WANT to spend their (mostly) hard earned cash. D3, you've led me, and many, many others, on a crazy roller coaster of highs and lows in the last several months, but I believe it's safe to say, you are really heading down the wrong path.

Good point. Players did not ask for AP boosts. The only complaint I hear is that they don't drop enough now and the all boost costs HP (I really wish this would just be a larger ISO number even if it was 1,000). This way everyone has access to the boosts, but the cost is high enough that it is prohibitive to continually purchase it.

What can I point to that they've done? The forum now has a favicon! I asked for them to do this, and many months later it was delivered.

Ye gods, I actually remember this request, and when I saw the favicon a little while ago, I thought "Hey, they finally fulfilled that request! I'd been waiting for that too!"

    What the forum community request:
    Long overdue buffs.
Character re-balancing tweaks (instead of one giant nerf).
    Environmental tile re-balancing tweaks.
    Fix MMR.
Removing Level scaling (maybe that's just me)
Increasing chances of getting better character covers in paid packs.
New game modes - more single player content, True variety - different character PvP's, some that you have to pay for and rehashed PvE does not count as variety - something different, like time based missions or community based missions vs a common enemy.

    What we get:
Buff announcement for characters - just announcements - no buffs after months.
    A new crit tile gem.
    New reward screens.
New sound effects for certain environments.
    Removing environments with TEAMUPS.
    More level scaling.
    Sharding.
    A New MPQ icon.
GIANT NERFS rendering once overpowered characters to be useless.
Removal of team PvP modes because metrics stated they weren't popular.
Decrease in chances of guaranteed character pulls from event tokens.

It wasn't that they weren't popular - they didn't encourage sales.

They also claimed that metrics showed that less people engaged with these events as well.

  • Its funny going through this thread seeing all the complaints, but yet most of the people complaining have and still spend money. Common sense should of kicked in by now, if you don't like something why would you spend money on it. SMH, i guess i will never understand that logic.
  • I dunno, since season 4 wrapped I've hardly played (and the downward slide has been there ever since the Team-Ups patch, aside from the Deadpool event). I'm certainly not spending money and have no plans to do so further with the way the game's going. I'm playing other mobile games again when for months I hardly touched any other game (aside from a few regular Words With Friends matchups with friends). I'm just one datapoint of course, but I reckon the last month of no communication and no improvements have been the straw that broke the camel's back.

I recently found Marvel Heroes and have been loving it for the past week or so - everything about it seems to be the opposite of what you see here. The devs actually post on their forums regularly and seem to take the feedback they get there into consideration, and I don't feel pressured at all to spend money to fully enjoy the game. It's funny, but that (and the fact that the game has been really fun) has actually led me to spend some on it already - there's a Steam sale right now that has some character packs for 50% off, but you can very easily earn enough in-game to buy them after about a week of regular play. I've already unlocked Squirrel Girl through that route (and that's another thing - the character selection is much more varied over there), but I could've spent that earned currency (shards) I used to get her on two random heroes instead if I didn't have such a strong urge to attack people with a mob of squirrels.

Haven't touched this game since (although I was really losing interest in this for the past two months or so - far too much grinding and late-night finishes). I really don't miss it, to be honest. And nope, I'm not some secret shill for Heroes - I'm just really enjoying the fact that I've found something that scratches that Marvel itch better than even Puzzle Quest used to.

Except Marvel Heroes is not on mobile platforms. If it were I would jump on it too.
  • After months of trying to get a response on the forum route, I've now PM'ed Ice to try to get a response on the Euro end time issue. That was a couple of days ago so to be fair I'm not expecting an immediate response, but complete avoidance of the issue by the dev team on forums and PM's would tell me all I need to know in terms of whether to get out of the game or not.

Even if I was a single guy with no work commitments I'd be getting pretty fed up of the 5am shenanigans by now. A fix doesn't need new servers, it doesn't need other timezones to be penalized, it just needs a bit of an adjustment to event entry screens / mechanics.
  • I think this is as good a time as any to take a break, wake me up when something interesting happens.

That's why we lost a fellow veteran UK player in TheLadder.

For me it is much easier to be positive about MPQ now than it was when the initial post was written. TrueHealing changed everything.

    1. With TrueHealing, I was force to barely play 10/15 minutes a day. And when there is nice events/cover rewards, I can play maybe 45 minutes, but no more. So I now have much more time to do a lot of things during free time (and other games).

    2. Following point 1: I no longer care about missing characters, impossible scaling, date of the next sale, not waking up for events end and stuff like that.

    3. When I got a refund from Google, nobody took my HP back, so I could max LThor, thus putting a foot in the 3* world. And you know what? They could remove my LThor covers now, I no longer care, I will just stop playing without regrets.

Of course, these are ony positive points for me, not for demiurge. But just the same they do not care about our vision and the great list Nonce made, I do not care about their vision. There will always be whales. (well, at least, they are realistics about what they do, and are fine with it, jocking about it. If only they had named the ability "also: money" icon_razz.gif )

My first post, so I don't want to be negative, but everything that is done is centered around money. I'm starting to hate the free game business model more and more every day.

Yeah, there's the rub. It's easier for me since I almost never have an opportunity to play mobile games (if I'm at home, I'll play on my PC, and I'm usually too busy to pull out my phone and play while I'm out somewhere).
