Poll: Which 3* Most Needs a Buff?

  • I feel that when the question is phrased that way, it coincides too much with merely what the worst character in the game is. And we could just look at tier lists for that.

I think DD, IM40, GSBW are very close to being good characters. They only need minor adjustments. So they would be my choices.

Loki on the other hand, along with Doom and Rags need much more work in wanting a 3rd skill or maybe even major adjustments to their existing skills.

I honestly think Hulk (will) needs a buff, despite being popular. With his new health, Anger will be even harder to trigger.

Psylocke needs a "buff"--in quotes because she's good, but just has no current synergy in the current meta. The meta changing in her favour could be all the buff she needs, but imo Bewildered could use some love either way.

    Spidey honestly needs a redesign.

HT is fine imo, just that he has been uncommon and not really a worthwhile investment.

Ragnarok, Loki, and Doctor Doom all need a third power.

Iron Man (Model 40): It's the sign of a broken character when you have people on the forums suggesting to keep him intentionally **** at 5/5/1 or 5/5/2.

I feel strongly that D3 will get the "true diversity" they wanted if they'd take another look at these characters and ask themselves "why are they never used outside of LRs or essential nodes?"

Spider Man's yellow and Daredevil's trap mechanic needs re-evaluation, but I personally don't care about those two anymore.

    All of this.

They'll get diversity naturally through improving the weak characters (especially if they bump up the flow of iso so people can level them) rather than forcing people to use this and that. I am stunned that it takes so long for them to "funbalance" even one character.

The three 3* with only two covers simply need a 3rd power- may or may not need any other rebalancing either depending on the power.

IM40 is just overcosted on his red and blue and Recharge is nice but it is an issue that it is arguably worse with extra covers.

Spidey they've screwed up and we just have to accept that stunning and healing are not mechanics they're going to push.

Daredevil honestly fills the niche they want him to fill, and if they'd just reconsider what overwrites and what sets off traps- so that his red isn't overwritten so easily, mostly- he could be quite playable in PVP.
  • Daredevil is easy to fix imo: either destroying or overrides should trigger the traps.

Instead of making DD's traps random, let us place them where we want. That would make him a lot more appealing.

Loki just needs a 3rd power that actually attacks in some way. I don't have a problem with his other powers.

I could have put Lazy Thor or Magneto on the poll and someone would have voted for them.
  • I think that Loki is the character who needs the most redesign, and if we think about a 3rd power, than we should consider the others like Ragnarok and Doctor Doom to have an extra power also.

DD is complicate case. I do not think he is useless, but there are two things that keep me away of using this character:

    1) you cannot place the traps strategically. If the power of a character is based on the strategy, then this character should be able to place the trap at will. This would follow also a logical sense of the word, as a trap is something placed to get someone. If you want to catch a rat, you do not place the trap in the middle of a swimming pool, for obvious reasons.

    2) the fact that the traps can be override, especially by Daken are a big minus here, traps should be always triggered by matching the color (as it is now), but also by changing the tile (as with Daken). To disarm the trap, it would be possible for other strategical players (Magneto, GSBW), who can target the tiles in a "strategic vs strategic" way of playing.

Therefore I think a buff would be great increasing the playability of DD

Also make them stay around and explode even if he's killed. Only replacing by friendly match should be dependent on him.
  • I agree with the call for Rags, Doc, and Loki to get third powers but please do not build an entire new character for them.

I would love to see the new third cover for each of them introduced over a three weekend baddy event with obviously one weekend for each of them.

This of course could lead up to the introduction of another one or two baddys to the game once these guys have been buffed on the following two weekends potentially.

Lastly I would like to see the baddys brought into the PVE rotation a little bit more regularly.
  • really you have sentry up there? seriously??

  • With regards to why he's on the list:

For Daredevil, if his trap is disarmed for any reason, the team should get back AP cost -1.

For Iron Man, the AP Cost increases for his Yellow should be removed, as well as the AP penalties for using his powers. He'll still be slow, but much more usable.

Spiderman's healing was adjusted to True Healing values to make Prologue healing slower and more difficult -- then True healing was brought in. His Healing boost should change to the original values. His Stun should be removed and replaced with Web Interference, which would lock out a particular opponent chosen opponent color for some number of turns.
      Web Interference - Blue 5AP
Spider-Man picks a strategic spot for a web countdown tile. Opponent powers using the chosen color are unusable for 2 rounds. When the countdown is over, just the webbing remains.
      Level Upgrades
Level 2: Powers are unusable for three rounds. Level 3: Countdown tiles powered by the chosen color are halted. Level 4: Protect, Strike, and Attack tiles of the chosen color stop functioning. Level 5: Interference lasts for 4 rounds.

For example, if he picked a Green tile, Sentry's World Rupture could be held off for awhile. Sentry wouldn't be stunned, though, he could still match tiles and play Supernova.

I like that idea, it gives Spidy a shot in the arm he needs, and returns some use to his blue.
      • Or they could keep ruining blue powers. Psylocke buff by default!

Daredevils fix is so easy. Just make all his traps random colors. Done

IM40 just needs a slight reduction on the cost of red and blue to maybe 12/14

All I'd add is not letting them be disarmed by other abilities overwriting them. If a red tile was trapped by DD, then Daken was to take it as a strike tile, shift the trap to another tile, not get rid of it.

Voted Loki, Spidey and DD. Moving DD's red to another colour (yellow? Thinking of his original costume) seems like an easy fix. Loki has two OK powers, but needs a third. So do Doom and Rags, but they need it less because Doom is at least passable as he is now, and Rags at least has cheap abilities (even if they do stink) and a pile of health. With the true healing changes, Spidey probably needs a complete redesign, because he doesn't really do anything useful anymore.
      • What's the point? It takes 6 months for the devs to get around to buffing a character. So, we're asking which 3 characters we want to use a year and a half from now?
