POLL: Admit it, you've bought healthpacks with True Healing™

Just curious.
Edit: oh, and I don't mean that anyone who spends on the game is an idiot, of course not. Rather, the people that can't afford to spend on a game like this/know their math and proceed to not spend, are non-idiots.

If I burn through all my healthpacks I take it as a sign I should quit for a while.

I bought an Asgardian Treasure at the end of March and I still have a fair amount of HP left over. I bought some healthpacks to try and help my alliance hit the cover in Blind Justice. I only needed one Red cover to max my Punisher, but it was not to be.

If they hadn't made the changes they did, I would have bought some HP during the last sale, but these changes aren't improving my gaming experience.

I've only bought Hero Points for roster spots and shields for months before "True Healing". Bought some during the sale to upgrade Cmags to playable usability, next day "True Healing" announced and implemented 2 days later. Yes, i used Prologue healing to keep playing cause my 2*roster has about 6 max characters, and guilty of only using my favorite 2 for tournaments. it was a chore to heal but it was my choice to either heal or stop playing. i liked the game a lot so i did it, and played for hours either pvp, pve events, or just to use the simulator to see how i'd do with others combo of 3. now with "true healing" i get to play 5 or so matches about 20 minutes, then i'm done. I never bought health packs before and sure as heck would never buy anything from them after the cash grab. as for buying hero points after "true healing" i will not add revenue to D3 ever again. been doing well in tournaments with shields but when hero points run out i guess doing well in tournaments will also. they lost what money i was willing to spend to keep my enjoyment of the game, their lost; they can keep their game the way they want it, i'll just play what few matches i can then, play something else or troll their forum, which is less fun than prologue healing.

Gotta admit, I'm in the first catagory. I can't help it. I'm addicted.

I need my MPQ. I need it BAD. Even it's just a little hit in the morning, I gotta get my MPQ fix.

And I don't have a problem, I can quit any time I want to. Wait, ...... isn't that what all addicts say?.

Yeah, I might have a problem.

  • HP is for three things for me:
    1) shields
    2) roster slots
    3) the hoard

I don't buy anything else with it, at all, ever. Until the Thing comes out, and that's what the hoard is for.

Hmm... need one more option for 'I buy HP, but never spend on healthpacks'. Will all the votes disappear if I add one more option?

    I believe so.

"I only did it once mom I swear." Has it really been that bad? I see OBW creeping her way back into rosters. Competition is just as fierce as before. Clear a round of PVE nodes, then go play PVP and leave those PVE characters to rest & recover. Play PVP for a while, using healthpacks as needed. When all out of healthpacks, just go back to PVE and repeat.
  • I haven't bought health packs since they raised the prices on them.
  • I bought one in a pinch prior to true healing to get top 5... haven't since then and I've just adjusted how i play post true healing.

I think people are just overreacting... Spidey was barely playable anyhow, and this really just hurts OBW, which was overused.
  • The only purchase I made was early on when I need Hero Points for Roster Slots. I spent $5 and will never spend any money on this game again... EVER. I've never bought a health pack and rarely used them anyway since I barely play anymore. Oh, and I have 44 health packs that I'll likely never use.
  • Bought one set at the end of the heroic that gave out Jenny-smash-the-block to insure top 10 (which turned out to be top 2). Have bought them two other times in the 120 days I've played. Those two times I felt bad. When I thought of it during the heroic as something akin to buying a shield, I felt less bad. 200 HP guaranteed me a 3 cover finish, and I got 100HP of it back from placement rewards.

It really had nothing to do with True Healing™, as I would not have had the time to prologue heal my team anyway.

Edit - Also, I didn't vote since none of the options fit with my experience.
I've paid for HP couple times, have enough now to last me...probably forever if I'm smart. Might buy more at some point if I still feel like I like the game. Have spent the HP for roster slots and shields, and have bought a total of 4 covers (to take a char from 4/3/2 to 5/5/3 and max him).

True Healing is the best thing that happened to the game since the introduction of The Punisher (as he is one of the coolest Marval characters).

Sayonara, OBW! Thou shall not be missed.

    Signed,

A player that grew up using pre nerf Classic Storm and pre nerf Baby Thor. With them on my side I F2P-burned through tons of health packs.

But admittedly: I did use Spider-Man a LOT in the time my *** characters were around lvl 100, so I can imagine stuff being a lot harder now. Still: good riddens OBW, good riddens.

And a little tip for crying transitioners:

LEVEL PATCH. Use him as a punching bag. Save Health Packs.

I'm with ben grimm on this one , hp is for roster spots, shields, a hard to get cover, and the hoard
  • You should add an option: "Yes, but only occasionally and this hasn't really been affected by true healing."

It is almost never worth buying health packs. However there are some cases, especially in PvE, where it is reasonable to buy health packs at a critical time in order to win covers.

Let's just say the 5th option (F2P/non-idiot) is for cases when a person clearly realizes that they cannot (logically and morally) afford to spend HP on something as trivial as healthpacks, i.e. is a non-idiot. I chose the long-time player option myself but that one would fit me too, then.

Afraid the votes would reset. Anyway the price for healthpacks is so high that it's hard to consider them as anything other than boosts, they don't guarantee you a victory by themselves as other people can still overshoot you, you can run out of time, get a bad board and wipe, etc. At least when you buy a roster slot/a cover you get exactly what you want (less so for shields).
  • I voted "No, don't need them with my roster (long-time player)", although if there was an option "No, because I refuse to pay the devs so I can play a F2P game" I would go for that. I have made the transition to 3* (1 maxed and several in the 100s), but I can't claim I don't need hp because my roster allow me to play as much as before. I just think this change has made the game (and possibly me) more hardcore. Instead of spending 2 hours each day when I want to, I now have to spend 30 minutes, wait for 3 hours, then play 30 more minutes and take another 30m break. And repeat. In other words, I have to be in the game almost all day. If that's not hardcore, I don't know what is.

I've bought Health Packs once since the nerf, but it was for the last Heroic PVE and because of the limited roster. I'm lucky that my roster is good enough that I can easily score over 800-900 in PVP now without worrying about health packs too much. I know not everyone is at this stage in their games yet, but I still say the TH nerf hurts the players that have yet to make the transition to a viable 3* team with at least Patch or Daken most. I paid money to speed up my transition from 1* to 2*-3* by putting covers on LCap, OBW, and Thor. I'd hate to think how long it would have been otherwise and how much longer it would be under current rules.

Not fully F2P here, as I've dropped $50 on the game since I started. That has all gone to roster and alliance slots.

True healing has dramatically changed how I play, though. Yes, I used OBW as a "crutch" though I never used prologue healing. I am one of the many in the 2-3 transition, having a 141 Punisher (yay), 141 IM40, 141 Spidey (sob), 102 Hulk and then it tapers quickly. Most of my 3s are leveled as high as I can get them based on my covers. I find the holier-than-thou high end players who say "level and use Patch" to very arrogant and out of touch. My 77 cap Patch (0/3/4) would be lunched upon and Laken is even worse at 1/1/1 (level 20).
