Except rewards, ISO8 Brotherhood was actually good event

The scaling was very manageable. I ran pretty much OBW + Psylocke + Lazy Thor exclusively. The end times were split pretty much half and half between AM and PM. The progression rewards were attainable, but required strong effort. There was a nice feel of progress in the story. The opponents could have used a bit more variety, but they were by far not as bad as it has been in the past. All in all, I am extremely satisfied with how this event was handled!

Except 3-star Iron Man. He is weak. But hey, can't win them all!

It'd be interesting to find out if/how the IM40 covers affected community scaling. I get the impression not many were really pushing this one.
  • I enjoyed this PvE event a lot, even though the progress rewards were poorly tiered and the Prizes were... well, IM40. I hope we can have more PvE events be like this one. I didn't feel pressured to have to constantly play the game throughout the day, which helped make it more fun.

The top grinders in many brackets hit the 125k for the Storm cover. I myself was 27k shy of it, but came in 21st. For covers that I didn't really want.

If they were Sentry rewards, I may have tried to grind a bit as well (took a few subs mostly off) and probably would have gotten a Storm cover too. I only played hard for the last hour on the last two sets of subs (after not joining them for the first 13 hours) for the tokens. If it were main bracket points I cared about, then I would have joined those subs sooner and gotten in extra refreshes.

So yes, I'm guessing lots of people went easy on this.

Yup I agree 101% that this event is quite enjoyable. Scaling and RB was decent - tho like @hairydave mentioned it might be due to lesser people grinding due to the MEH IM40 rewards.
  • The recent two events do not seem to attempt to account for the game's lack of balance by arbitarily raising enemy levels. Most of the nodes are pretty darn challenging if you're not running someone who should be significantly nerfed in a balanced game, especially toward the end. Of course they're no match against Magneto or even OBW, but those characters are far above their balanced counterparts.
  • I wish the Storm cover had been a bit easier to reach. I was 5k short at the end, but it was because I blew off the subs that ended at the same time as the Cat-5 PvP giant pile of tiny cats. If I hadn't had to spend a ton of time fixing my PvP MMR because of the devs' typical epic stupidity where undocumented ninja patches are concerned, I could have pulled it off easily (and placed top-2 in my main bracket instead of 3rd).

That said, this was the first event in a long time where the top end of the progression rewards had reasonable values. Considering how very badly that's been handled for the past few months, I'm going to chalk that up to dumb luck, but if the next event also has progression numbers that top out around where the top fraction of the main brackets end up, that would be a hopeful sign that learning is taking place.

Node composition was reasonable, and I thought that the structure of the essential nodes has finally hit a successful balance between favoring those who placed highly enough to have the most recent character, and not over-favoring us. IM40 rewards were uninspiring, but I know a lot of people appreciated being able to take an event off, so that was good.

    All that HP though. Thanks!

On the first day I decided the storm cover was not worth the effort of getting up at 4am 4 days in a row as that works out at about 1 pound 50 pence for each lie in - cost of buying the cover. I only did 8 or 9 games per sub in the first half and only like 4 or 5 in the second. I probably total just over 100 games in the event, including the 19 in main. It will be interesting to see who's up in Heroic Juggs that starts today. Would be nice to take a few more off and there might be another 2.5 day heroic straight after.
  • I really enjoyed it simply because I decided right at the start that I wasn't interested in the prizes on offer, as I'm already cover maxed on IM40. I pretty much played each sub once or twice, trying to get into the top 300 for the event token, and took the unlocked nodes if I was still awake when they were available. I finished so much lower than I usually do, but it was nice to effectively take an event off and just use it to stock up on ISO (up to 132k now). I kinda hope the Juggs Heroic is just as bad for the rewards so I can enjoy the fairly relaxed playing style some more. If they're Daken or Sentry I'll be going all out for them!
  • I enjoyed the event, but it was too long, and the subs were too similar.

In my case, scaling was not so good, and I had to kill most of my 3* roster to clear each sub.

But 2.5 hours refresh makes it possible to heal or auto-heal.

Rewards were poor. They should improve them the way they did for the PvPs. Would certainly bring motivation (our Alliance is very motivated by the new rewards and really fight to get them).

MPQ could be as easy as 1,2, 3.

When the event started, I decided to take this event easy: 10 days of 24h subs seems way too hardcode/grinding for me.

I often unlocked the subs just after they appear, then only do one game to enter the leaderboard. Finishing with one or two clear "near" the end (between 1h before the end, or 6h before, due to my real time schedule/sleep). Finished between top 200 to top 400 on each sub.
I only try harder for the 1.5 day sub, I finished top 50.

Finished in top 100 overall. Woaw! Without really doing any grinding or nothing crazy, I got one (not wanted) 3* cover!
Nice event after all, when everybody seems to take it easy too.
  • This event got me back in the good books with the Mrs after spending waaay too much time with MPQ over the last month. I'm very happy that my initial assessment of the Storm cover was that it was too much effort to grind for as it meant a very casual experience for me taking part in the daily subs and just making sure I was in the top 50 or thereabouts. Reduced rubberbanding was extremely positive, especially with the 2nd half subs ending at 5am local time for me.

So, the good points about this PVE are that the rewards sucked, therefore many people took a vacation, which made this less grindy than the previous PVEs, right?
Yeah I can totally see the devs being on the right track with PVE icon_lol.gif

Looking forward to surprised stares when there's decent rewards again in the next event and everyone will be back to the hardcore treadmill to keep pace, lol.
This event was more enjoyable by accident, not by design, people.

One can only hope that its by design. icon_razz.gif
  • I enjoyed the event, all 15nodes I completed. Hoping juggs follows the trend
  • The event was ok except for the part where most of the subs ended at the same time because they lasted 1 day instead of a day and a half, meaning that some time zones were totally screwed due to rubberbanding
  • I got a bunch of useful covers out of it (mainly from tokens, but I also finished building my IM40 to the specs I wanted) and I thought it was very manageable. Storm was probably reachable for me if I had realized earlier that she would be (I finished about 120k) but I don't regret taking it easy for the most part. I suspect people's apathy made this more manageable. One nice thing it did tell me is I'm managing my personal scaling pretty well; community scaling was much lighter this time and I don't think I lost a single battle - usually on a PVE I'll eventually have a team wipeout somewhere eventually.

At least the progression rewards were actually attainable. That's something.
  • It was good event BECAUSE of the uninteresting rewards. Veterans could laze it out -- and the others benefited from less competition.

My opinion didn't change from last: it would be a great improvement if point regain rate was at least halved, better cut to 1/3 or 1/4 -- As of now it is still too many repeats of the very same game.
  • I hated the event. For whatever reason, the first series of nodes never had the progress bar filled so only had 4-5 dots to play in. Just couldn't get good amount of points. I said to hell with it and went back to pvp where at least there when I get screwed over i can come read about the winners shenanigans in the forums
