Pretty sure that’s due to hardware, last engine was 12 years old, would most likely be running on a new dishwasher today1 -

There's two different things going on here. Wave nodes are set up as x waves of y enemies. So you might have 3 waves, one with 3 enemies, one with 5, and one with 4. The bug you're describing happens…4 -

We haven't had Rebalance and QoL changes for a while now while we're all hands on Unity. Similarly, we've been stuck in R323 on non-Unity platforms so we haven't released a new build + release notes …3
