*cough*VIP*cough*
That's exactly what I don't want to do. I know you're being sarcastic here, so no worries, mate. Oh well, guess I will stop collecting the full art cards from other sets, because their normal art counterparts CAN be crafted, unlike the WAR vanguards. Unless... new events award a decent amount of crystals (hint...).
I can understand Full Art cards being a special item that requires VIP but that Vanguards STILL aren't added to normal packs and are neither craftable and yet they are meant to be a key part of gameplay now is a completely broken decision. Only unecessary parts of the game should be locked behind a paywall.
Every single Vanguard should be added into the normal sets... If you want to restrict them then treat them like Exclusives and add them after the next set comes out, but STOP LYING with them.
eg. Calling them "rare" and "mythic" is misleading and false advertising and is illegal in Australia and Europe.
The rare ones are NOT rare, they completely unavailable without buying them separately. The mythic ones are NOT mythic, they are completely unavailable without buying them separately.
Even more lying is that you can actually guarantee you can get every single Mythic one by using the non-dupe purchase. But you can NOT guarantee you can get every rare one. You could spend 1 million gold on the "fake rare" pack and NEVER EVER get the rare you are missing. This means that rares are far far far rarer than mythic. You are explicitly breaking European lootbox laws and Australian honesty in advertising laws.
They are part of the game for good or ill now so STOP keeping them away from people. Just add them to the normal packs, either immediately or on release of the next set like Exclusives are. And LABEL them Exclusive because they are not available in packs yet, so even their current labelling is illegal even if you don't want to change it.
I have pointed this out MANY times both publicly and in private.
Do I need to make an actual legal complaint in some countries to get you to address an obvious illegality that you have known about since just after their introduction?
Bugs are expected. Deliberately breaking laws and keeping them broken after they've been pointed out is international criminal behaviour. Is it worth having added Vanguards at all if the way you sell them gets you penalised in some countries? (And NOT the ones you've thrown away with the languarge problems... You've KEPT all the countries where this behaviour is illegal.)
I am happy to talk about this directly with your lawyers, as I said about a year ago, but if this doesn't change to be actually honest and legal then I will lodge complaints with the consumer protection agencies in both Australia and Europe. Enough is enough. The current system is directly and obviously Fraud.
The implementation of VIP has destroyed all fun from collecting cards. Now you know that you will get half the mythic and masterpiece cards of each collection no matter how much effort you put in the game. Usually in most games VIP means less effort and time to get stuff. Here it means whole collection in no time. They have created an unhappy player base taking away all possibilities. The only ones that dont complain are those that can afford VIP and get all cards in a day. Their choice to make VIP gods and the rest peasants will cost them. Just disgusted.
I also agree that VIP has destroyed the balance in this game. I understand that there are players that want to support the game and that's entirely up to them. But I've taken quite some pride in getting where I am right now without paying for anything. When new sets come out, I really feel like a peasant when I see new PWs (not available through crystals at that time) with the newest mythics and MPs.
I'm quite intriged by this post. Did you have any direct contact with Octagon about this matter? I know that Europe has changed their lootbox laws some time ago. One would expect companies to act on these changes and abide the new laws.
I've contacted D3Go many times in many different ways but didn't feel I had the same direct access to Oktagon at the time.
(My anger is way more at D3Go, for talking to Oktagon I should calm down and rephrase things in my software tester and customer experience voices...)
I only like alternate art cards if they are cards we can’t get through crafting. I don’t really see the point otherwise. It just crowds up and complicates things.
And I wonder how many will purchase an expensive card they already have. And we have to admit the extra MPs is a hit below the belt, especially for non-VIPs.
That's exactly the reason why I'm getting the WAR alt art cards. I won't be getting the ELD cards as long as I can craft the normal ones. Fblthp is asking way too much crystals for them.
The problem is you still risk crafting the regular ones, don’t you?
Wait, are we going to be able to craft Vanguards?
By craft they mean buying them with gems. And @Machine most possibly means the non-duplicate mythics. Because only WAR is fully random.

Asylamb said: I think introducing alt arts for older cards would make sense if that alt card would be placed in a set that art belongs to. For example, we have M19's Murder with an alt art from M20. Basically, we have a card that's supposed to be Standard wasted on shadowing a Legacy card. If M20 version was a part of M20 set, that would be a much more reasonable approach, imo.

At this point, you pretty much have to pay to get more than a sample of the mythics/masterpieces.
