April Q&A Session - Question Submission (4/19/19)

Hi Everyone,

We'd like to open up this month's question submission thread for April's questions. This round of submission will be much shorter though, as we plan on combining it with the March questions that the team is in the process of answering right now.

In order to make it easy to collate and compile all questions, we would like to kindly ask all players limit themselves to only one comment and one question only. (Brief explanations are fine, but please no novels) We will then compile a list of the top questions asked by the community, and Oktagon will answer as many of them as they are able to.

We will be closing the submission thread on Monday 4/22 at 18:00 PT / 21:00 ET / Tuesday 4/23, 02:00 UTC. We will then compile the questions, and send it over to Oktagon for review and answering. Once they have done that, we will format it and prepare it for posting in the forum.

    1. How will you fix the bugs, freezes, game locks and errors that make us lose games or charges? The leaderboards should not be dictated by being lucky enough to not encounter those.

    How do you rate blue Sun's Zenith from a balancing point of view? If you think it's stupidly op, how could that happen? If not, when will we get a set of devs who understand their game?

    Can we get a (volunteer) experienced player to be part of a monthly meeting at Octogon?  They could possibly be a voice to the developers and a voice to the community on decisions being made for the game and it's future. If they need to speak a certain language, that can be a prerequisite.  Maybe have an election of the most qualified candidates?  FUn Fun!

    I'm legitimately interested in how the new leveling system will work and when it will start to impact our match-ups?

    Please explain the process of designing cards for MTGPQ.  
         -How do you decide which cards to convert or not to convert?
         -How do you decide Power/Toughness of creatures?
         -How do you decide Mana Cost?
         -How do you balance new cards against cards already in the game?
         -How do you test how new cards interact with other new/old cards?
         -How do you determine the rarity of new cards (since there are always several cards with different rarities than their paper counterparts)
         -How do you make sure new cards work properly as they are written and translated?
         -How do you make sure new cards interact properly with old cards?
         -How do you define each color's identity and how do you design new cards to fit within that identity?

    All of these things are rigorously documented in paper MTG, with designers publishing several articles in each set explaining the design and balancing of each new card that comes out.  It would be nice to have something similar for MTGPQ

    Is there a long-term master plan for Legacy?  Will it just be an ever-growing repository for old sets/mechanics, with all of the degenerate gameplay and app bloat, or is there an expectation of making changes to it in the future?

    Currently the system is very difficult for new players or returning players to catch up and contend with existing players. Are their any plans to allow for a better catch-up system? Planeswalkers with super high rune costs, the myriad of legacy events are the two big items of note for myself.

    Can you share the ENTIRE vision for player level? It has been stated many times that more than just color mastery factors in/will factor in to the final player level calculations. What are these other factors specifically, and how may they reshape the conversation player have been having about the unfair experience points from the color mastery leveling fiasco?

    When do I get my rewards for levels 47 through 90?
