River's Rebuke stymied by hexproof

I just had a battle against Sphinx of the Final Word which used its ability to make all its creatures hexproof. I managed to charge up my River's Rebuke, and it got the red can't cast marker on it and didn't cast. My opponent didn't have any supports out, I suspect if that weren't the case it would have worked fine. Anyway, River's Rebuke doesn't target, so it should have worked. I barely managed to win after that, got within one attack of losing.

Seconded. This one made me question my sanity for a few. Same with djeru’s renunciation (disable your opponent’s first two creatures), big old red x even though there were two hexproof guys sitting there that I sure would’ve liked to disable.

Vivien’s invocation did deal the damage in the same situation though, so it seems to be only an issue with spells that wouldn’t otherwise cast with no creatures in play. It’s like hexproof creatures are now invisible. Not too cool.
