Is Blade worth hanging on to? I was away from the game when he was released, and now I have many new characters to add to my roster and not a whole lot of HP to use on roster slots. I have a single black Blade cover, and I am not sure how badly I need to hang on to it. He's definitely a lower priority than 5* Thanos and Medusa (whom I have multiple covers for), but I suppose I could dump the one-star characters (other than Juggernaut of course) who I only use in the DDQ anyway.

If you get a bunch of red covers, Blade is pretty awesome. If you don't, he's not.

Pretty much. A 5/0/0 Blade is better than a 0/5/5 Blade.

Exactly. Bloodlust generates really good strike tiles, and if it's in active mode, puts out Energy Channeling-level damage to a random enemy. Once he's in active mode, the black is useful to keep him there. Not sure what the green is good for. He's just pretty dependent on board state to get going.

OK, I won't cry too much if I have to ditch the single black cover then. icon_e_smile.gif It is the first cover to expire, so I'll still roster him and maybe sell him off if HP are tight once Thanos and Medusa are Close to their expiration dates.

Facing an AI Lvl 301 Blade in Gauntlet. 3600 damage to a random member of my team ON EVERY PERSONS TURN.... combined with the AI's supernatural ability to get whatever the hell it needs AP wise.... some days I hate this game so much and question if the deva actually look at what they've made or just assign damage values based off their weekend escort bill.

The Dev's intention is to make you WANT him on your team. After seeing what he and the other boosted characters can do against you, I certainly want him on my team more!

That team was so easy for me I can't even remember his teammates. I had more trouble with 3 star Blade.

As an opponent, if you control red, 4 Blade is useless, like, completely useless. I brought some red user to that fight and I also don't remember having too many problems.

If you build a team for his red, he can be deadly, but he is a one trick pony. But yeah, his red is cool.

I also got this "I want those" reaction, but after playing against Medusa and Carol, which are much better/dangerous. But I might champ Blade after those two (or maybe IW).

In the latest Thick as Thieves event, I have Blade at 139 4/5/2 and boosted he's doing work. On his essential nodes I pair him with 4Clops and IMHB. Play your cards right and you don't even need to match red to get the Bloodlust (Such an awesome name) going, especially with IMHB Black and 4Clops Yellow.

Basically prioritize yellow and black. Cast 4Clops yellow. Match TU and black. Cast IMHB Black. Get strike tiles plus Bloodlust damage. Wreck ****. If it's taking too long, clean up with Scott or Tony.

I also recently champed him. My god he is a monster in this event... free 650+ strike tiles + 6500 Bloodlust makes PvE clears a breeze

I'll admit I was a little hard on Blade when he came out but holy **** he's a MONSTER. One of the characters that's way better in practice than on paper.

Has anybody tried Blade, Cage and Wasp? They should be crazy strong together...

'A lot of people' used Blade in Balance of Power, I think his red at that level does close to 20-25k every turn (as reference, BBolts does just 12k). Thing is, green and black are not specially great, but his red is amazing. Super strong 'free' strike tiles, and then a lot of passive damage for just 1AP.

His red is amazing IF you have a cooperative board. More than just about any other 4* he is totally dependent upon the presence of a single color on the board and in your AP pools. If you can't collect any red, then you probably aren't generating any strike tiles either for lack of tiles, and his red becomes totally useless (and as you note, green is only ok and black is borderline terrible). But add someone like IM40 or IMHB who can generate red from the ether (ie with no board destruction) or even 4* cyc or Phoenix if you are a 5* player, and blade really starts to excel. So if you build a team specifically around generating red to fuel blade, then he is able to put out damage as fast as just about anyone else.

The current PVE has been a total joke with this guy, Kate and IM40. When he's boosted his strikes are 600+ each and Bloodlust deals over 6k per turn. Just get a recharge off, sit back and lawl while he melts everyone's face.

Agreed, I don't have him champed yet, but at 5 in red it can get ridiculous. I've been using him quite often before this whenever the enemy team does not use red. Just let those strikes add up and bring along a goon demolisher like Strange, and an attack tile maker or another passive damager for all kinds of extra damage.
Also as stated, Wasp works very well with him, especially since I'd rather use her black most of the time. 10 yellow and you flip/buff every strike. The only problem is, the match is usually over before you can get that far.

Ran him with IM40 in Doom pvp for hilarious results, particularly if you can get a couple of his strike tiles out. Recharge, fire off green, Doom's blue, score some cascades, Blade's black on a red heavy board for some more potential matches, then possibly Bloodlust if there is anyone left standing.

Is there a reason to why Blade is not available from 3* champion rewards?
I guess they could have made him a reward for Thanos, but instead chose Red Hulk who was already represented (by Thor).

Devs: I'd gladly let you take the purple Red Hulk I got from Thanos and replace it with a red Bl4de. :)
Most likely they are waiting for the next mini-revamp of 3*'s rewards to give it to Blad3. Same for Iron Fist and Carol.

With bonus héros and vaulting, getting the new 4* characters is really easy. D3 doesn't need to update the champion rewards anymore.

The Bloodlust doesn't seem to scale well with levels though. My Blade is level 220, with five red covers, and it still does 2000-something (probably 2700 kind of)
That's just 4* powers in general. At level 220 (218-221 actually) a 4* power has improved, compared to level, 70 by 77%. Since 4* powers increase in damage (or healing, or tile strength, or whatever) by about 94.77% from level 70 to 270, you've only got another 17.7% (of the level 70 value) increase coming over your next 50 levels, or 10% of the current level 220 value.

Incidentally, I'm guessing your Bloodlust currently does 2690 damage, give or take 1. The level 270 value is 2960.
