I'm a VIP player and as of today the intercepts are making me actually watch the ads anyway. About 50% of the time they fail and do nothing, resulting in no reward.

I'm still wondering why they can't make them work for Steam clients.

Because (I believe) Steam would take a cut of the ad revenue, and would have to approve the ad servicing provider used by D3. The Steam user base is almost certainly a small fraction of the overall user base -- I'd bet that it's no more than 10%, and probably more like single digits -- and it's not worth the expense of jumping through Steam's hoops to have what will be a tiny revenue stream at best. Which is also (basically) the reason why intercepts aren't available on the Kindle -- Amazon demands control over the Kindle ecosystem and revenues generated from it, and the Kindle installed base isn't big enough to justify dealing with that.

I think Apple might take a cut too, but the Apple market is so large that it's worth the haircut to go along with whatever requirements they impose.

When I paid for VIP....it worked like a charm, got them all the time and never had an issue with them not giving the bonus reward. Since I stopped paying for the VIP it has gotten a lot more infrequent.....like I have not seen one in the last 24 hours!!! If I do see one....its about a 15-20% chance it will actually work.

This has been my exact experience as well. With VIP: tons. Without it: maybe 3 a day, tops, and 2 of them won't work.

which is a fine excuse for not fully putting it in.
there isn't a great excuse for not putting it in as a vip bonus where you just get random bonuses from time to time with no adds.

such a mechanic already exists so it would just be a matter of disabling the rest of the shield intercepts which shouldn't be super hard *shrugs*

personally at this point I would prefer them just letting the steam users migrate one way to a mobile device. maybe they will kill steam support at some point and let people migrate. though I am more expecting them to just kill steam support eventually and tell steam users they have to start over as a final we hate you to steam users as they clearly hate them.

I get the button to watch the Intercept, but then I push it and it doesn't work. I CS'd it to no avail. Now I'll just whine on the boards when I see the topic come up. icon_razz.gif

I had this happening on an Android phone - clicking ad resulted in app crashing, needed to restart the app. I disabled the phone's "Developer Options" setting and I'm now able to watch the ads and receive the rewards.
  • I'm on iOS and I've gone from a regular stream of intercepts to none for many days now. I've restarted my tablet and the game - nothing. Non VIP.

I was loving the intercepts - really wish I could access hem again. I did a support ticket but just got a message that they already knew there was an issue.
