Why do YOU think they allowed Ultron to make matches?

And what I really hate is having tons of chars and that for a 3* you only have 2 options to do ultron and not really enjoy the challenge.

To use another gaming analogy what you're angry about is the same as getting mad at an FPS because only your best weapon beats the boss at the end and you want to beat him with just a pistol.

Most games make it so specific items and weapons beat certain scenarios. This game is just following the same trend. GR might be awesome for boss fights but apart from messing about every now and then he's useless everywhere else

Yeah I guess this is why Dark Souls series is one of the greatest gaming franchises in history, where just your ability is the limit.

I have to say that I didnt like that Ultron made matches, I dont agree AT ALL with people that said it made no difference. Yeah he matched some bombs, some bombs I would have just matched myself, no win there, but he also created cascades and made some bombs reach the bottom much much faster (I almost lost a round8 fight because of that).

I liked that in the past Ultron was much more a puzzle boss, you could even beat it with almost anybody as long as you managed to match or destroy all bombs. This time around things were different, and the fight was very similar to the IM or Cap boss battles. A pity in my opinion because I preferred them to be as different as possible.

I think somewhere in this thread a poster suggested that the change to im40 was the reason for ultron making matches. That seems plausible since you could easily beat a non moving ultron in round 8 with just im40 and lcap

In respect to IM40, I actually found his recharge tiles being placed at the bottom of the board more of an occurring situation rather than Ultron matching them away.

After having finished the event now, I'm personally quite pleased his board moving has been put in. The damage he did through matching was largely not a problem and the amount of bombs he matched away, which he wouldn't have done without moving the tiles, was helpful.

I think the difficulty needed to be increased based on roster power creep and they thought the easiest increase in difficulty was to let him make moves. without him moving the board, im40, winfinite an other witch options would have been pretty simple, GR or not. as it was, for me, 5-black GR made things pretty simple, even at only level 94. survive a while matching away bombs. finally eat 1 bomb. ultron dead. the rng aspect of sometimes matching his own bombs or conversely matching a vertical-3 to drop a bomb toward the bottom is probably something they thought would add excitement. but in reality only added frustration. dev and player definitions of 'fun and challenging' always are very, very different.
