You'd have thought that if Iroas's Champion has trample from Call of the Full Moon and kills a defender with her first strike, she ought to be able to deal full normal strike damage to the opponent, right? Nope, doesn't happen. She does trample over whatever's left of the first half of her double strike damage, but the second half is lost.

I've submitted a bug ticket.

The description of the skill "Double Strike" states that the creature deals a 1st strike attack(no retaliation from target creature), and if the target survives, it will hit with a normal attack(meaning the target can retaliate at the same time). The skill does not grant the creature an ability to hit another target if the initial attack destroys the target creature. Therefore the 2nd attack will not activate or the 2nd attack cannot be redirected to another creature or planeswalker.

The description of double strike in the game simply says the creature deals first strike damage and regular damage afterwards. The description of trample says excess damage damage is dealt to the planeswalker. There's nothing explicit in PQ that should prevent the second hit from occurring and dealing damage to the planeswalker.

In the card game, there are countless ways a blocker can be killed or removed after a double strike creature has been blocked. Trample rules state that if a blocker is removed before damage has been applied, 100% of the damage is applied to the PW.

A double strike creature with trample should deal full damage to the PW with its second hit if the first hit kills its blocker. They just didn't code the case properly.
