I guess this thread is about finding the right balance of effort for pves. Other than 5 day pves are a bit nuts, I think the rest of the event is just fine. It should be a big challenge to come in 1st.

While in principle I agree that #1 placement should be about effort for PvE, I think for the health of the game and players, it would be even better to have variations in the requirement. As an example, there was one time where scaling broke in a PvE event -- everything was trivially easy, and there were a lot of players who have very similar scores. In that event, speed and timing became key to winning, as opposed to effort. It was a race in the final grind to see who can start with the least amount of time left on the clock and and gain the most points in the shortest amount of time. It was still extremely competitive, but it was a sprint instead of a marathon.

There's a lot of people to prefer PvP because they hate marathons, but people who can't compete in PvP don't have a choice. I'd like to see proportionally more events like Deadpool vs MPQ where the frequency of rewards is higher, and less of these horrible events with simultaneous sub or continuous 12 hour subs (that have nerfed sub rewards). If PvE events are shorter, I think devs could afford to experiment with more types of events. Some could be trivially easy and some could be intentionally difficult. The variation in content is part of what makes me prefer PvE over PvP.

And I appreciate all the feedback on the story. It's nice to know that "Player X" is not alone in this.
