Why scoring is so high in PVP.

Well if that where 100% true, then the top out players would have left ( I'm sure some have but others have not). Yes you have to have something of value to be sustainable, but I wouldn't totally discount gameplay its self as a reward (I've dropped $60 on a console game for nothing more then the enjoyment of playing, I would not doubt you have as well).
But yeh I'm with you that the game does need to be worked on. I'm getting frustrated cus I feel I can't get anywhere no matter what I do (and yet I am still horribly addicted lol)
Of the people who have made quitting posts, I don't think a single person named that as the reasoning why0 -

I wasn't around when the patch covers were given so I can't comment.
But for LC, I will say that only the top 5% get all the covers given. Just like in DP, if you get all the covers available, you can get 5/2/3 now without paying a single cent. That doesn't mean that all top players will have that (for example I have been averaging 1k points for last few pvp, but I only have a 3/1/2 DP).
On a related note, I agree with phantron that having a 5 character tourney may help. This will encourage roster diversity and also build up interest in other supporting characters.0 -

Hmmmm, I'm calling **** on those figures as an indicator of current spend. Seriously, people aren't spending 3 x as much HP on health packs as shields.
I don't spend HP on health packs, my alliance doesn't spend HP on health packs and yet a whole lot of people (at least 30 in each PvP bracket) spend HP on shields. Spending on shields is seen as essential.
Also, those figures were from an early April article which states 'past two weeks' but almost certainly would have been written in March in order to meet article submission deadlines so we're probably looking at Feb/March data which could have been pre-Season - which we know changed the competitive landscape.0 -
Speaking of sentry... Anyone else seem to get him used a lot as a TU?0

Depending on the actual opponent, a 3* roster is not an autoskip for maxed Mags-CStorm or Ares-OBW.
Sentry-Daken+249? Sure, skip. Patch-Mags-80 Deadpool? Game on. Especially when those matches are worth 35-40 and the typically 2* opponent during the climb tops out at around 25-28. Bring in a TUAP CotS or Adamantium Slash to cover bad boards/additional nukes, and its very winnable. And if it goes bad quick, cut bait, and you lose single digit points. Big whoop.0 -

And almost automatic counter-attack. Also, if it gets you into 3* territory (anything past 500 points it seems like these days), many other attacks coming soon afterwards: any benefit will be offset almost immediately.
Solved by shield-hopping: but that isn't worthwhile with a 2* roster, probably don't have the HP to afford it, and you would be lucky to crack top 25 while trying it.0 -

If a match is worth 35-40, you'll lose maybe 7 when he hits back, and then you hit him for 35-40 again. There's no downside there. Usually they wise up after 2-3 times, but if you have someone who doesn't understand that, it's +EV all the way.
It's been a grind, and I have 5-6 lvl 94 three star guys now to help (cause it's funny to stop there, most go to about 100-120 softcapped), but 2* land is no where near the barren wasteland of hope that you tend to identify it as.0
