These characters need to be nerfed

To me just one obvious example is Chasms turn one stun and constant AP drain. Did the Devs really want players to be stuck with zero AP most of the match unable to have a chance of executing any sort of games plan? Id like to think not. Chasms constant AP drain is like MTG's mass land removal
Equip someone with cart so you don't get stunned and kill him turn 0, that's the chasm gameplan.
Obviously this one is by accident (the drink cart isn't meant to turn off stuns, it's just broken) but it shows how the whole "use supports to do counters" idea I had would actually work.
Right now we have a support that makes your whole team immune to stun, and it (sorta) works to keep Chasm in check, in a way that "immune to stun" characters never did.
Now give us a support that zeroes out AoE damage, or one that AoEs the enemy team every time they make a strike tile, or stuns them for 4 turns when they match a critical.

There's an easy support fix for Iron May too: give us a support that turns any enemy buffs into debuffs. So if I bring that support to a fight where the enemy is Iron May, she reduces their health, match damage and power damage.
See, they can do "counters, not nerfs" and create an actual "rock paper scissors" metagame. Everybody wants those things, right? You don't just want to mindlessly, trivially win every single fight you play by using overpowered characters?

We also need a support that drains all starting AP.
The Nullifier
R1 - All AP in 1 color (chosen at random but always hits if only 1 color has starting AP so doesn't 'miss')
R3 - All AP in 2 colors
R5 - All AP in 3 colorsSo if you want any chance of starting AP from supports to be available you'll need to boost 1 in all colors and hope the support doesn't drain the one you need.

Why not? I'm on board with this!
The key for this is making sure that these supports are narrow, and that there are a lot of them, that cover a lot of different mechanics. Create interesting choices for us! I can bring the anti AOE support or bring a bunch of free AP supports, or bring the one that drains enemy AP, or punishes criticals or buffs but I can't do all of those things at once.

I know and I get the counter plays....I just don't like any character that almost hard locks you into playing someone/something to counter it. It's kills variety and creative team building for me

I assume this means Leapfrog and the other Supports on the chopping block are in fact not getting "rebalanced" now.Well, if I were them I’d put it on the back burner for sure.
Basically the goal would be to make them good enough to use in pve and pvp but not be ridiculously OP.
Leapfrog seems the easier to fix to me.
Just change the R3 invisible tile to be a 2 turn invisible CD (similar to Invisible Womans invisible power) instead of lasting till the invisible tile gets destroyed/matched. I'd also make it consume 2 battery charges.
Then at R5 you'd get 2 firings of Frog since both types use 2 charges and you could still make 1 match 4 since there are 5 total charges.
Still useful to avoid turn 0 deaths but not OP.

HE can turn 0 frog and eros, his red destroys any invisibility or cd tile

I'm now using the Hawkeye infinite for the majority of my matches in PvP, but for me, it only goes infinite at turn 0 with supports (Refreshment Cart for the purple AP refund, Quantum Realm and Black Widow Batons to start with purple AP).How well does he work without the supports? I've been super fortunate to get the necessary supports at the needed levels to fuel the combo, and I've had many matches where I needed the supports to keep the infinite going. Does the character still need nerfing if supports were removed from PvP?
He doesn't go reliably infinite without Refreshment Cart IME.
Then you are playing him incorrectly. He only needs the quantom and batons to process. Soul stone and the refreshment cart are only "win more" supports

Of course. But HE can't turn 0 the Away part of Frog.

As an interlude to this discussion, I present a board with 17 critical tiles.

Yikes. @Blackstone How did you manage to achieve this??!
2* bullseye would be having a field day!0 -
Very slowly.
Ascended 1-5 HE (mine in 550, but I don't think it matters. Purple AP supports... Did not use cart because that would cause unintentional matches.
Build up purple AP. Goal is not winning or matching. Once purple is at 20 or so AP start placing crits from bottom corner moving across then up careful to not make a match.
Use red to clear rows (above your placed crits) if you need more purple.
I don't know that there's a reason to do this beyond being bored or if you want to see 2* bullseye do his thing, but it was fun messing around with and figuring out the little things to get more on the board.
I'll go for more at some point...I haven't done the math to see how many would be possible.

We were theorising about this before somewhere, and I believe the most you can ever have on any given row or column without making a match is 3, though I’m not sure it’s possible to have 3 crits on literally every row and column.
I’m sure someone much mathsier than I will be able to give an answer.
Suffice it to say (from me at least) that you must have been very close to maximum crit!0 -
It should be possible to get 23. You just need to setup complete diagonals of crits.
