Every time I see the art I consider turning the game off. It’s that annoying to me.

Just plain not caring or trying.

He looks like the art from Cosmic Invasion. It doesn't really match the MPQ style but I don't think they had a choice.

... but, crucially, is not pixelated. Looks ready to be pixelated, but a step was missed.

    Again, better, appears more intentional:

The pixelated version will be on sale soon for $9.99

    We hope :D

On Thursday they looked like bunch of nincompoops and people can do what they want but spending sends a signal that all is fine.

Webbed wonder shoved everyone into SCL 1, you couldn’t play it, the season vault was the wrong cover and it went missing for a while.

Anyway I guess we’ll see what they do with a costume but feeling like they are trying to manipulate us into buying one by making base art bad is annoying.

I’m also recalling the super lazy Sable costume so I won’t make any strong predictions about what they sell us.

Continuing to play the game sends a signal that "all is fine."

Is there supposed to be a release store for this guy? All I can see is the same tired old ‘Family Legends’ store currently…

I'm actually sort of fascinated by the idea that spending money on MPQ is like some sort of friendly donation, or a tip for good service.

Spending money in a pay to win game like this is completely self-interested. You pay because you want whatever thing they're selling and think it's worth the price. If the things they're selling aren't worth the price then they need to start selling things that are.

    Yes and no.

Every time you buy something the game says something about supporting MPQ. Or maybe that’s the bonus reward message where Iron Man says “thanks for the support”. Or both.

Implying very heavily that you aren’t just making a purchase. You are keeping the game running. Which you are because it’s free and thus if everyone stopped paying then they’d be running it at a loss and it’s a business. So they probably wouldn’t do that.

It’s another psychological manipulation to make you think about spending as a way to help something you appreciate etc. Many smaller businesses do this to a degree.

When I spend it's because I want whatever thing they're selling. Either it'll directly help me win, or it increases my enjoyment in some other way (ridiculous costumes). Other players will only spend on things that help them win, and I certainly understand that too.

If they had to rely on tips to stay alive I think the game would've died a very long time ago. They need to sell things that directly help you win stuff.

The only people forced in SCL 1 are those in slice 1. By the time I joined in slice 5 I was able to join CL10 just fine.

They screw up all the time, and there's no defending it! They're incompetent.

But I spend money so I can beat up all of you, because I hate you all so much more than I hate the developers! I'm not condoning or endorsing anything they do, and I'm certainly not donating to some worthy cause.

I absolutely spent money on VIP to support the game. They don't have ads and I sometimes spent HOURS a day playing. I have zero expectation my few dollars a month added years to the game, but I feel like you should support something like this IF you're in the financial position to do so.

I also 100% stopped spending any money on the game when it stopped being fun. If I play 25 minutes a day now, that's a lot. If they can't even be bothered to fix it when it's broken, or TALK to us on the official forum about it, they don't deserve it.

I'm also fascinated by the premise that anyone would spend money to beat other players at a game where that being impossible is part of the business model. Maybe earlier in the lifecycle, sure, but PvP is just how many wins I can get before the retals hurt me more than the points gained, a system that can't be defeated without coordinating with opponents in a chat room.

PvE is just which full meta team player can click through all the screens fast enough, while competing against someone doing the exact same thing you're doing but who knew precisely when the bracket flipped. There's no strategy. Just do this or finish 22nd.

PvE is stupid because everyone has the same roster and does the same thing forever. I do wonder if 6* will change that.

In PvP it's absolutely possible to beat other players. Wins based removed a lot of the fun of denying rewards, but there are enough people who still care about points that you can achieve something.

And this is insane behavior. If it's not fun why are you still spending your time on it? Is your time worth less than money? Is there no more fun activity you could be doing with your free time?

What you just described, I would say is "it's possible to mildly annoy someone on a shield hop if they aren't paying attention". I get zero satisfaction out of that. I also wouldn't describe that as winning anything because that person is still finishing ahead of me unless I join a Line chat. Or Discord. Wherever people are congregating these days.

Because the time I spend on the toilet is not particularly valuable to me. It drives me crazy when people make arguments like this one. I can watch TV and play. I can sit on a toilet and play. I don't feel like there's a HUGE number of things that would drastically improve my day if I switched to them during that 20 minutes.

Because I don't view everything as what have you done for me lately. I've spent a lot of time here. I've spent a lot of time playing. My roster is loaded. I don't get the same satisfaction out of watching a movie I've seen 52000 times, but if Star Wars is on while I'm vacuuming, why turn the channel? If I don't enjoy hanging with a particular friend as much as I used to, I also don't ghost them. This isn't complicated philosophy.

And because games evolve. This game isn't what it was two years ago, which also wasn't what the game was two years before that. I can't know if things improve if I'm not playing at all. And I'm part of an alliance I would still like to be part of if the game does get fun again.

Imagine getting to the end of your life and reflecting on your deathbed:

"Sure, I wasted thousands of hours on my phone playing a toilet game for babies, but at least I hated every second of it!"

You can find something else to do. Why be angry while you poop? Read a book! Find a different game! An addiction is something that you continue to do after you stop enjoying it.

Also...if you don't like hanging out with someone anymore you should absolutely ghost them. If your job sucks you should quit. Loyalty is stupid, especially loyalty to fake online friends or to a game that's no fun. Enjoy your life.

Play somewhere that doesn't have that kind of stupid coordination.

"A toilet game for babies" but you need to win it soooooo much that you "hate" all and any competition? I'm starting to wonder if you are just an angry AI stuck on repeat, lol.

I don't get it. What's the gotcha there?

I enjoy playing the game right now.

I'm not waiting for some never-gonna-happen hypothetical future and hate-playing until then. Or carrying out some weird grudge against the developers by trying to outlast them or prove some point to them that they'll never see and don't care about anyway.

If it ever stopped being fun, for a second, I'd be gone. My time is far too valuable to do anything I don't enjoy.

Your interpretation of what I said is wildly off from what I actually said.

And that last paragraph just makes me feel bad for you.
