    Cosmic Wolverine coming next month!

You may be joking, but Old Man Phoenix is an ideal blend of popular character at cosmic power levels that they SHOULD be utilizing.

IDGAF about Death or the other incarnations as playable characters really (unless they have killer ability sets), they've always been plot pieces before characters, but throw me some Last God Thor or King In Black Venom (Eddie Brock) or the like and they'll fuel my desire to keep chasing despite the rest of the game being a fricking mess.

No I was not joking. I totally believe Wolverine is next. He was one of the first 4 and 5 star characters

In another chat I said phx force wolverine. But I can also see a female character. If that the case I think beyond omega level storm would be a candidate.

Looks like a lot of fun, will be happy to slowly accumulate—er, "chase"—over the course of 2026. Obvious 6★ favorite over sleepy Galactus.

Rendering appears to be by same artist that wrecked Sable, and again has a somewhat compressed torso and slight spinal issue, but thanks to full face mask, another disaster was avoided.

Cover choice .... here's hoping for another last second swap 😆

Anyway, thanks to those involved for a bright spot as our elderly game begins its 13th year ... !

I'm not sure they have a single "staff artist" (among their other 20 duties) that can draw a human face left. Gorgon is the last legitimately good example I can come up with. Sam and Elsa are passable (looking like people that probably exist) but you can very plainly see the artistic shortcuts they took to make up for their poor ability. You might want to give a pass to Phyla until you notice the eye-energy effect literally splits her face down a line where the geometry no longer matches.

I can forgive some wonky anatomical difficulties (HELLO~~~~ Liefeld) but what are you doing drawing people if you can't make them look like them (or humans at all)?

I don't think they have any staff artists.... Not for character art .. Wouldn't be surprised if they never have had. Would expect each set of character art to be contacted out. And artist to get repeat contracts so long as they're okay with the terms and schedule allows. But over the years you can see the art downshifting several times. The game is having a harder and harder time attracting and retaining illustration services, having to dig deeper and deeper.

I'd have to dig through some old Q&As to verify but my understanding was that BCS was actually founded (as they took over MPQ) by (some maybe mostly?) former artists for the game, but I can only really pick out two distinct character artists at this point and they're not all that different... they may even be switching between who does line art and coloring, which would explain the similarity.

The art was never entirely uniform and I guess you could call these later efforts consistent in a (bad) way, but it's fairly easy to pick out at least a handful of older examples from other (likely contract) artists that they used regularly and apparently no longer do.

I thought they were expecting it to take 3-6 months to get covers for a 6 star. Galactus has been around for what? A month? This is nuts.

Where did they say that? I am a t50-100 player. I have 2 covers. I bought one single offer with his shards.

It’s fine to release one and have vague plans etc but they are pushing them faster than initially announced.

They need to communicate. But they won’t I guess.

Anyone who blows a bunch of cash on Spidey will feel like a rube if it just buys a 1/1/1 for 6 months.

So I found the spot where they announced the cadence. It appears the plan is to have one every 3-4 months, but the first 3 are only going to be about a month apart.

My earlier guesstimate on how long to cover someone was just an guess and the new PVE has Galactus shards in it.

If they alternate shards for the next 3 weeks there'll be 4 total with spidey, 3 with G and a boss as we lead into the new 6 on Christmas Day. You get 80 if you T100 to T21 in SCL10; T300 to 101 you get 70 total.

Maybe there'll be some offer or vault or something but basically we'll have about 320 or so for Spidey by Christmas if they alternate until Super Saiyan Logan releases. Then there will be 3 so you'll get like another 160ish by late January so you might have a single Spidey cover in 2 months.

I would like to take a moment to thank the devs for bagging the whole quests for shards thing thanks to their inability to stop dirty rotten farmers from abusing the system.

Why thank the devs for "bagging the whole quests for shards"? I actually really enjoyed that part of the game a lot. How about not thanking the devs for somehow not being able to figure out why it happens and stop that so we can have the quest for shards? Thanking them for their own inability to figure it out seems a bit backwards to me. But it could just be me.

Well, the way I read it was with tags, so it could just be your sarcasm detector needs an update. (unless of course my sarcasm detector also needs an upgrade for missing your implied )

Edit: okay the sarcasm tags are not displayed by the forum... I don't yet know what to make of it. Apparently they strike-through.

    Apparently my sarcasm wasn’t clear….

I forgot about sarcasm tags but also they have other functions here. Anyway the quests need to come back somehow!

Suggestion: repurpose the zombie pve thing from 2024 anniversary and put 50 shards for new 6s at the end of each run of days and make the character you were going to make use us for a quest required for all of the nodes. Do this 3x. No farming and increase engagement over a longer period of time. Win-win.

Got it! Apologies as I didn't detect the sarcasm. My bad.

I dunno, I think those quests should stay gone -- they were way too much work. Maybe if they changed then from "use every power 20 times" to use every power 1 time" (nah, still too much) or "read the power descriptions 1 time" (but they're really long now).

Ok, they need to give us 500 covers of the new character for reading the first word of each power description, or the game will die.

I'm sorry, I don't know about everyone else here, but I am a highly successful individual with an actual life.

I have budgeted exactly 6.375 seconds per day to play MPQ -- any more than that is simply an unacceptable amount of WORK.

Unfortunately any more than 6.375 seconds cuts into time spent in my solid gold speedboat, with my wife (who looks like Polaris).

    Serious question.

I wasn't around for 4* and 5* introductions - has this been the most underwhelming/least impactful roll out of a new tier of characters ? Did the game start with 3*s available ?

I would also like to offer my condolences to @entrailbucket. I've heard rumors that his wife has been seen hanging out mostly with raccoons with big guns and cyborg horse-men with huge hammers. Those can't be easy to compete against.

The game started with 1*, 2*, 3*, and (one) 4* -- Xforce Wolverine. Invisible Woman was introduced shortly after.

Both 4* were so useless that they were completely outclassed by 2* characters. I used to advise players to just sell the covers for HP. They were trophies, I guess, but had zero use in the game.

3* were basically impossible to fully cover at that time, too, btw. The ones in lightning rounds were at least available somewhat frequently, but they required you to win a lightning round, which wasn't easy. (Search this forum for "3* transition" and you'll see lots of players complaining about that).

When they finally did 4* for real (starting with Nick Fury), if your alliance finished top 100 for the season, you got one cover. They were also offered as first place rewards for PvP and PvE.

When 5* were rolled out they were intially impossible to get. You had to work hard to earn a single legendary token, and they had 10% odds of a 5* cover. The only players running around with fully covered 5* were spending thousands of dollars (and sometimes thousands of dollars per month, and some players who spent that much got unlucky and didn't pull the covers they wanted anyway).

So this is nothing new, and I suppose depending on your perspective it's actually better (if you don't spend, at least you're not getting owned by whales who spent a ton of money). The new tier is always hard to get and takes forever.

So, better than usual. I am surprised.

Yep, the major difference with 3*, 4*, and 5* was that if you spent enough (for wildly varying values of "enough"), you could cover anybody you wanted at launch. If you didn't spend it was agonizingly slow, and all of that is documented on the forum here, if you look for it.

With 6* they aren't allowing that (yet?).
