Old Alliance Members: Hey Pun! You coming back
Me: I'm thinking about it. Any good news?
Old Alliance Members: Um.. they nerfed Polaris, 5hor.. Shang and Grocket are next
Me: Oh... no. No I won't be coming back

Was nice seeing you again
Maybe you'll be back in a few years when our AI masters have taken control of this and things improve.Or they leave it to Unity AI and it'll be dead a week Thursday.

Woooeee. I was gonna let my feelings rip, but luckily work got busy and saved me from alienating myself and damaging all of that hopeful good will (I don't actually know if) I've maybe built here.
All I will say is, to the dev team, thank you for attempting to make some characters better (there is some ok stuff in there at 5star levels), and for what feels like a fair balance to MThor. As much as I don't always trust your ability to balance this game, I currently trust it far more than anyone arguing these recent and announced changes not being a good idea.
The only valid argument I've seen coming from this topic is that you took way too long to address them (because you definitely did).

I would like to go into a long rant of how you have completely ruined this game, but I figured why waste my breath bc you obviously will do nothing to fix the issues. Good luck in retaining players after this next round of nerfs !!

Naah, screw a reputation...
You are all acting like a bunch of babies, grow up and at least TRY to look at it from a different perspective (a balanced one). They barely even hurt Polaris and MThor, haven't even touched Shang yet, made Hawkeye debatably BETTER than Shang and people can't keep seem to accept it.
Did you all really want to play only Shang-Chi and MThor for another ten years? Did you really think they were never going to adjust more characters? Some minor tweaks to characters who aren't even the top of the meta right now and we are like "yeah, that's it, that's the reason I stop playing after years of investment, but I better blast my tantrum all over the forum first, that'll teach em"?
I can understand the the frustration if those 3 characters are ALL you've invested in for years because they've waited years to fix the problem, but holy hell, see the writing on the wall... or in the forums... ADAPT. Or at least be more adult and strategic with your complaints.

Now accepting video, character or team strategy requests to rebuild credibility.

It is impossible to know the full motivations for actions taken by the devs, because it's a business and part of their business is to adjust the game to manipulate us for their benefit while making sure it feels at least somewhat fair, and fun; this requires holding back information much of the time.
But, assume:
1. there is a stable-to-shrinking playerbase (inarguably true)
2. there are certain characters who provide reliable, dependable, completely acceptable levels "will win" performance to a large chunk of players (the 90% who aren't chasing T100 in PVE, and possibly some of the ones in T100 level) - who are completely comfortable doing the same thing and barely or not-at-all spending because Old Reliable Teams provide enough of what they want to make them happy
3. The devs need some increase in current revenue
4. The characters are easier to adjust than before (apparently true since they are making adjustments in fairly large numbers whereas before they were rare and usually it was just one character a season)All those things together point to making changes to characters now, despite every reason they shouldn't (all the bugs etc) because it's likely the options on the table are increase revenue or close it down, and they want to keep it going if they can.
Even though it seems somewhat nonsensical and even though I personally am annoyed that characters I specifically focused on, and faved to 550 or close to it, are becoming a bit worse, there's a logic to trying to push a player base who is comfortable with their favorite old sweatpants, er, characters to try to get something new (sweatpants? characters?) and build it up, which might mean some more spending. This spending won't go up absent some kind of push.
I can't make anyone like it and I can't argue in good faith that this is good timing or a good idea or that anything is being well managed really, but you can certainly see why they'd do this now.
Maybe there was a different way to try to get spending going, but maybe this is actually the easiest/most possible thing to do given their apparent labor restrictions (based on the past 5 months and persisting issues, it seems clear they are down to a minimal crew) so here we are.

We're agreeing on things FAR too often lately.
There might actually be some players quitting over this sort of thing, but they're probably not posting rants on the forum about it. I've lived through probably 10 or 12 of these forum meltdowns, and what's funny is that many times it's the same names melting down over the years, over and over again.
This too shall pass. And if it doesn't -- if this is actually the thing that ends the game this time, then I'll shrug and find some other fun game to play.

I'm really enjoying all the "enlightened gamers" taking victory laps over how reasonable they're being. Must be nice to commit a decade of your life to something and somehow not care about it or your fellow players. You just sound like a Rocky villain to me. "If it dies, it dies."

Positive spin on things, I’m going to give it a try… at least they are being forthright about the upcoming Shang nerf. It could…in some worlds…lead to dialogue with the player base and maybe explain the nerf.
Full disclosure, I don’t much use Shang anymore and find him to be a glass cannon. I did enjoy him some years ago when I was transitioning to a higher level play. I was able to pull him from LLs when I just had a few baby champs. So I see his utility as a transitional character, and understand the frustrations.

Is there any way to see how each character changes in detail ?

"If it dies, it dies."What's the alternative? I spent a long time yelling at them on here and in other places and it accomplished exactly nothing. Other players have spent similar amounts of energy on other stuff, and gotten nowhere. Worse! Tons of the things we were upset about over the years ended up not even being a big deal in the long run.
So I don't think any of this is the end anyway, but if it is, what can we do about it? Complaining here is a waste of energy and will accomplish nothing, again. I'll be sad if MPQ goes away but at the end of the day it's just a game.

I only play PVE so MThor is unchanged for me not sure how she is in pvp post nerf

Thank goodness someone said it and saved me from doing it myself.
The fact people are upset proves that the characters they picked needed to be nerfed.
It's a a live service game, people. Don't expect permanent ownership of anything.

Another 10 years is being very optimistic. 😁

Well when the Shang nerf hits that will be 3 of my 550s gutted.
@S0kun I'm assuming now we have the cover exchange system in game, we will be able to exchange any affected characters for free?
Also, on the topic of the cover exchange, still waiting on shard exchange which was promised back in January.

I’m surprised nobody has yet mentioned the positive aspect of this MThor nerf (yes, you’re reading that right, do not adjust your TV sets).
With her tile destruction and cascading reduced there’s significantly more play space for characters that put unfortified anything on the board, so like 85% or more of them.
You might bring these against MThor and stand a chance of your tile surviving a few turns, which should greatly open up variety, as the devs intend. On the flip side I’ve used MThor for my PvE clears in strange sites today and she’s still very usable with the right charge tile partners, she just doesn’t remove all enemy SAP and countdown tiles every single turn with as much reliability. Seems like a well judged nerf to me!
TLDR: MThor is worse as intended, but not useless. Hooray!

Based on their usage criteria and the underlying usefulness to players, they'll be coming for 3-star Dr Strange next. I remember him being invaluable playing at that level so he would be ticking all the boxes.
Another side-effect of the buffs is that some of the characters are also opponents in PVE, so whilst they may benefit players who decide it is time for The Hood to join their playlist (for example), it is also making PVE harder at the same time as they nerf the tools that would compensate for that.
