I can picture my pvp experience already...did the 6 stars or supports just kick my ****?I think we can safely infer from this announcement that 6* characters will be so exclusive that if you have them you can use previously blocked supports.
Get ready for
6* + Leapfrog!
6* + Fantasticar!
6* + Thanoscopter!0 -
This announcement has less substance than a Stan Lee plot but all the hyperbole of a Stan Lee Soapbox. So I guess 6* Stan Lee incoming?

Cosmic Characters!Eternity
Infinity
The Living Tribunal
Death
The Beyonder
GalactusIf you read that bit again you'll also see the use of the word "iconic". So also expect Iron Man, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Deadpool etc. I would assume.

My favourite line is: "Initially, these characters will focus on extremely powerful or iconic Marvel figures, setting a high benchmark for the rarity." My immediate thought was "and within a year it's "Symbiote Donkey Wolverine". 🤣

There is this bit too:
Part of the design changes for 6-Star Characters involves a new competitive shift at SCL 10. This level will serve as their arena, giving players a dedicated battlefield to test their ultimate heroes. The SCL 10 environment will allow for strategic experimentation, high-stakes matchups, and leaderboard-defining gameplay. 6-Stars can be used in all events, except where specific restrictions on rarities or affiliations apply, giving players flexibility while highlighting their strength in competitive settings.
So basically, here is brand new shiny SCL for your 6* but never fear, you can still use them to absolutely crush people almost everywhere else you fancy!

Et les bugs dans tout ça ? Au lieu de nous faire miroiter de grande chose à venir, ils pourraient déjà réparer le tchat d'alliance !!

No word on how to get them? Only that they are "game changing"?

This announcement is quite disappointing, it's like opening a token to a vault with amazing prizes and finding out I've only won some red iso. Please can we have answers to these questions:
1 - How do we acquire the new 6*s? Will there be a new token type? Will covers / bonus shards be available for existing token types? Should we be hoarding all of our existing tokens throughout the anniversary?
2 - What are the plans for ascension? (Less crucial to know than the first question but would still be nice to know what is intended.)2 -

Hoarding is an artificial concept created by MPQ players and as such is entirely up to choice. The Devs are on record in the past as saying hoarding is not an intended play choice and they are not going to encourage it as it is entirely counter-productive to them trying to make money.

Oh I know that, maybe should have phrased it differently. But clearly the way they roll this out will impact on whether or not it is a sensible tactic for players to hoard. In the absence of any clear information, it is likely that a lot of players will hoard / reduce spending over the anniversary until the 6*s are released.

Yeah, no doubt. When in doubt, players hoard, it is as sure a thing as the markets buying gold in turbulent times. I understand the Devs want us to get excited but this announcement isn't even a drip feed, it is just a whole bunch of nothing.

I feel like this should have been the reveal post and a new topic created for more in-depth info.

When they talk about "reshaping the board" and changing the way we play...
My mind goes to more crazy thoughts. Because it can't be as simple as "move all tiles of a selected color to the top", or "choose 1 of 4 quadrants to destroy"... because we already have things close to that with Northstar, Magneto, Quake, and others.
No, im going a bit more outside the box. Like, choose one of these 4 presented shapes. The playing board changes from the 8x8 grid into the shape chosen (like a diamond, a large X, a hollowed out square, etc) for # turns, removing all tiles outside of the shape, and restructuring the border(s) appropriately.
Or how about simply locking all of 1 or 2 chosen colors on the board... which is a bit more boring, but its still a much bigger change to how someone would approach stuff.
Or maybe the game splits our grid into 3 columned sections... lets say one 3 wide, then one 2 wide, then another 3 wide.... adding borders between these columns... and then they add the rule that if you want to cause match damage to character #1 on a team, you have to make a match in section A... match damage for character #2 happens in section B... etc.
Maybe im way out there... but they added this new UNITY Engine to change things up further, and 6*s are promising a lot... so lets see it happen! 😉

At that point, they are likely to replace an equivalent 4-Star release approximately every 3–4 months.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to replace the 5* release every N months?

Don't forget possibly locks the entire board and makes us cry salty tears until we have to force re-set. They call that the "Unity Fastball Special"!

I assume that 5* are going to basically become 4* in terms of game currency and importance, meaning the 4* level becomes less and less relevant, meaning players will be treating it like the current 3* level.
If the above ends up being the case - we should expect to have 4* PvP replace 3* PvP but also increased 5* PvP because anything else would be a bit bonkers. But we were big eyed boys, with the salt on our skin and we'd throw our kites to the wind.

I was thinking even more outside the box. The 2nd Puzzle Quest game (Galactrix) had a hexagon board instead squares. When you made your matches on that board the tiles slid in from the direction of the match which meant up to 6 directions (instead of just falling from the top). It was a very interesting and fun concept (too bad the main story line and mini-games weren't). So maybe Galactus has space battles with Hex boards and sliding tiles from all directions is the equivalent of zero-G.
But yeah I'm definitely expecting 7x7, 9x9 type boards or even ones shaped like a cross where the rows != columns and so on.
I think it's obvious they want 6 stars to give 'out of the box' battles with potentially different win conditions.

"Did you do that 6* announcement?"
"Yeah everything is up that we discussed"
"We didn't discuss it, it was just what John the intern was screaming as he lost his sanity to unity"
"......I think I did alright"4
