In the comics have they ever explained why he has those giant gold rectangle things on top of his ears...

Technology to protect him from psychic attacks.

In the "Avengers Under Seige" storyline back in the 80s, where' Zemo assembled an absolutely massive number of villains for the Masters of Evil, Helmut had Moonstone brainwash a villain named Blackout (he was more-or-less useless otherwise.) Blackout was Zemo's contigency to counter Captain Marvel (this is the Monica Rambeau, later Photon version, who was incredibly powerful.) He also had the Tinker create a device to over-ride Moonstone's control over Blackout and integrated that device into his headpiece.

I'm guessing it's whatever the writers need it to be...

And what does the WWF championship belt do? Or is that just to let everyone know that he's the undisputed world champion and he's ready to lay the smack down?

Once the seed is planted it's likely open to interpretation including being expanded on to meet the writer's needs. I'm surprised it's not used more in his stories.

To be the champ, you gotta beat the champ...

A jet flying, limousine riding, kiss stealing, wheeling-dealing belt-wearer?

So I played the whole Zemo event and he was terrible -- at anything less than 5 black he's actively hindering your team. He ruins free AP supports because he makes everything you cast cost an additional 3AP.

I think he might be ok eventually but I have no way of knowing until I get that 5th black cover. I can't really test until then.

Space Mountain... Thunderbolt Mountain... There may be a pattern.

But according to Mr Bucket Zemo may not live up to the hype.

No, I'm actually not sure. At low covers he hurts your team, but nobody's ever going to use him like that anyway, so it doesn't really matter.
