I’ve got some names in the SHIELD simulator I don’t recognise as seed teams, which I guess are the ‘seals’, but I’m not fully convinced they’re real — is everyone else seeing HippestHipstah, Slasher58 and ChopStuck?

Don't recognize the names, but they definitely aren't names of seed teams. If you're unsure, just click on the players name when you have them qued. If they are a real player, it will show you their roster. If it's a seed team, it will give an error message that they couldn't reach this players team.

Nope - usual seed names for me, I suspect those are real.

After fighting those for a while, I got what looked like actual seal players — much lower level than me but much higher than those initial ones, and more varied.

It also appears that some folks can use the "banned supports (Frog, Fantisicar, Thanos-Copter, Eros) and some can't. Not sure if it is tied to which platform you are on. I'm sure that this isn't a bug and is rather a case of a very thoroughly tested feature. Because we know their testing is so rigorous that they'd never let a bug slip through.

I was grinding seed teams in 2016 until around battle 26, when I was instead given back all 5* teams that were worth <10 points again. Fun while it lasted.

I hit that also and beat one of those 5* teams and was back to finding seed and seal teams. Seems like it sometimes gives you a "decent" team but then once you beat one of them, you can get multiple seed/seals.

Yes, this is exactly what I experienced. Once past a certain number of battles about every 10 battles you need to either fight a decent team or skip a bunch of times then you get seed teams again.

Just updated to 328 on Steam and the Simulation PVP gave me few arguably low level opponents... Guess they broke the MMR for just a little brief moment... Not complaining, just pity the ones at the receiving end...

If you can click on the name and see their roster, they're real.

Is it weird that I sorta wish that I had experienced this bug?

I mean, I didn't get any seed teams and haven't seen any seals (a term that I only just now learned, which is kinda dark but still funny) - from the gate it was nothing but 6-figure Thanoses and Doctor Stranges as far as the eye could see. Admittedly, I am playing those same characters myself (with Big T boosted to 621), so I'm not gonna go there.

The point is that I am going through a lot more health packs than usual just trying to hit 25, and here I am reading these tales of players who are basically strolling through to 50 without having to deal with even one 5-star Medusa, and I feel like I am missing out on a good thing.

I'm thinking that you guys are the lucky ones. I'm thinking how hilarious it would have been to Court Death my way through 50 teams - select fight, make one match, everything dies, collect prize, repeat... I could've been done in an hour. But no, I gotta take the long way there because my device had to go and work correctly and bug-free. Thanks Samsung.

That's apparently where I am at with this whole engine swap, actually wanting bugs.

Yup, it’s exactly why I chose to update to 327 and risk getting stuck. Not weird at all.

Was on 327 and was seeing normal PvP MMR teams.
Now on 328, I'm only seeing Seeds as far as the eye can see. Time to farm, i guess.

I already experienced more frequent wipes with new engine. But couldn't update to 327 on Steam, likely dev pulled it fast. Now on 328, still can get some PVP seed teams when I push through few nodes, so, yay?

Hot take. I am all for this change as a purposeful MMR adjustment. I saw 3 postive things that should be retained.

    1. 20+ seeds. Whether intentional or not, I saw this as a big QOL improvement for casual or late climbing players. You could reasonably ride seals to 30 wins and then assess how you want to play from there.
    2. I saw a vast and varied assortment of walruses mixed with the standard Big Name Whales. Yes the points are much lower, but this was a meaningful variety of new and novel accounts. I admit I play early to avoid the friend wall, so I can't speak to the mid event climb, but this early phase had a good variety of teams at all sizes
    3. Overall, it felt like after 1200, the game behaved the "traditional" way. but you had to cross 1000 -1100.

Overall, I thought this change was postive. Its much easier and faster to complete progression either by 1200 or 50 wins while eliminating the worst aspects of repeating targets/floaters.

In terms of LB placement play. Yes alot of things got changed, but it felt more like recalibrating your point expectations, the actual mechanics were more or less the same. Everyone just needs to adjust their playstyles

    Yes please to 1.
