This will be the first rollback on the unity engine. Ppl must have tremendous faith that will work properly or even achieveable...I don't.

Like I said if they roll me back so be it.

Show’s over folks. Updates are on the app and Google store to fix this.

lol I guess they finally figured it out.

Either way, coming on THEIR forums and going "neener-neener" in their face is a bold move.

The community bootlicking is absolutely hilarious. I'm laughing so hard since the Unity launch.

Imagine a completely fictitious, hypothetical situation where the devs roll a player back, that players loses items that they purchased, and that player exercises their rights under app store policies or consumer protection laws in their country of residence.

The devs would end up in either legal deposition or arbitration, having to state on the record and potentially under oath, that the reason they removed purchased items from this player's account is because they created a reward that thwy intended to be rewarded only once per day, but due to their own errors caused it to be rewarded any time a user opened the app and played a battle.

"B b b bu but but this player MALICOUSLY opened the app and played battles"

"If opening the app and playing battles is malicious activity, how would you define the intended activity of your users?"

"T t t t to to open the app and play battles in a different manner"

Call Netflix we're pitching a new legal

    drama!

But but but none of that is applicable!!! They can tell the difference between purchases and exploited gains!!! Suggested Netflix name:

“How many tokens?!?!? The true story of when some MPQ (mostly) Steam players took the piss!”

    It’s a working title…

Also - how many tokens did you gain from this exploit? Seeing as we are going all legal here, disclosure for the Devs legal team!

Looks like I've gotten about 30 tokens so far. Mostly because I barely played yesterday because I was miffed at this announcement. So I'd expect with normal play to be around 3 times that.

I play a lot. I don't play nearly as much as others. Those two things aren't incongruous. I spend on average a couple of hours a day grinding PvP matches and another half hour a day playing PvE. When the app is working perfectly I'd say I log in and out about 50 times a day, play a couple matches here on my work breaks, play a little on my lunch break, play a match or two while waiting at the drive through, etc. There are folks in my slice who are playing 200 matches per PvP. I have a buddy who logs in once a day and plays DDQ. That's all he does.

Egregious is going to look very different for me than it does for the guy who does 200 matches a day to the guy who logs in for DDQ. Without defining it the devs didn't threaten the guy who logs in once a day. Might not be threatening me or even the wackos who play 200 matches a day. But with their passive aggressive message I can't imagine that folks who play more often aren't going to be more likely to be targets of any rollbacks. If they are just rolling back accounts that are continuously tapping 0 point PvE nodes than say "Stopping over tapping 0 point PvE nodes". That's a reasonable ask. Right now the message delivered is that folks who play more often should be rightfully concerned of being rolled back just for engaging with the game the way they normally do.

By the way - just to clarify why am I asking for amounts of tokens obtained? Well then we can get to an objective level of what is fair use or not. Phumade said he obtained “less than 100” but that was in a very short span of time. However if that is the objective total of more of the player base great. We have a measuring stick. Then we can determine who the cheats are!

    I got about 10 tokens.

I still believe "cheat" is the wrong word. No rules were broken. The game gives you a token over and over again. Relying on players to "follow the honor system" instead of fixing the game seems like a bad strategy.

Seems like you would have nothing to worry about?

I assume everyone who's worried about being rolled back for their totally innocent play patterns will immediately update, to make sure they don't accidentally get any more tokens that were jammed in their pockets by the devs.

Right? Nobody who's operating in good faith would purposely put off this update?

I was never worried about myself. I'm not here to defend myself. It's a discussion forum, and I'm complaining to the devs that they're going about this the wrong way. A way that's upsetting a playerbase that's already upset because of a buggy update.

Reducing opposing opinions to "bootlicking" doesn't make your argument stronger. It only divides.

They asked people to stop doing a particular thing and provided a possible consequence some may face.

There's been plenty of time to calm emotional reactions

I just downloaded and installed today's update. I'm assuming it was for the tokens. Game is still laggy. Stutters on every tile move. Every menu change. Every button I press. This is on a Pixel 7.

And you are the appointed member of the player base? If so cool but I never knew there was a union or how to join?

Of course you are free to express anything you want and the Devs have **** this up, I agree. Just not seeing much from the player base Union side to say “Oh OK yeah we exploited the hell out of this!”

hehe am I the "reasonable objective standard for the player base for player base performance and play profile" as an fyi. I avg 150-200 wins per event. That event number is probably less than EB. I'll admit I play sam juggs, so I see the token on every reset.

Is my standard pvp play now at risk of being considered egriocous? (sorry sp). pvp doubles can be created via app reset. That info been true since the great MMR adjustment 8 years ago.

EB feels this is an "technique" akin to pve tapping. My pve match totals haven't changed in years. So am I now not guilty because I didn't follow a pve tap workflow?

To spell it out for all readers. While Sokun's referring to token dupe exploit. the play pattern is the same to normal pvp and mmr que managment techniques.

Specifically, If I'm told "reset" to cache the double.
-which is close app, open app. goto node you want to double and start match.
how is that mechanically not the same as
-close app, open app, play pve node (or sim or LR) close app?

Mechanically, these two workflows are more or less identical. and has already long been used in pvp play. All of these workflows have long existed outside of UNITY day.

in the past, they reacted and adjusted game code to encourage, discourage, explicitly ban / stop. specific tactics and user play patterns.

Why not return to fixing game code instead of veiled threats at player userbases? Objectively, I'm an apple user so I have no multi 1000 hoard to protect. Let me pose mgt question. which group should the devs target? The steam group which farmed it for weeks or the wide gen pop which "generate" 100 tokens with stand pvp tactics. I.e. which group actually farmed the most tokens vs which group represents the greatest loss?

Move your discussion away from tactics and towards management processes and worflows.

We're aware of the bug that's allowing for multiple daily play tokens to be earned and want to send a reminder that exploiting it is something we'd highly recommend you try not to take advantage of.

This isn't part of regular gameplay and while there are some instances such as crashes that cause the bug to happen, any egregious farming of the exploit is easily trackable and will result in accounts getting rolled back.

So you've rolled out a bug-ridden update that doesn't work properly, and this is somehow the players' fault?

I don't post here much, but I've been playing the game for years and this is the most egregious piece of nonsense you guys have ever pulled. Shame on you.

I have no idea who "exploited the hell out of this". But again, if this was known behavior that's been around for weeks, why wasn't it hot patched sooner? How come communication only came out yesterday, and only on the forum but with no notice in the game?

We are not all on the same team.

This game is not players vs devs, it's players vs players. If somebody gets extra stuff that I didn't get, that doesn't disadvantage the devs, it disadvantages ME. We are all in competition with each other and I have zero reason to defend someone who's trying to compete with me.

I've answered your question. There is no objective normal play pattern. Its a failed goal to say you can derive a standard level of play, unless your going to specify the snipers, the bakers, the connected.

My answer is always the same. accepted the consequences for the bugged release. put in review processes and management review checkpoints. have open communications with all stakeholders.

better management workflows will stop these issues from flaring into us vs them discussions.

A couple of questions for you DAZ0273. When are they going to fix the many, many bugs they just put in the wild?

When are they going to make amends for dropping the ball in every facet of this switch to Unity?

When you have some solid answers on that, then by all means start polling folks for how many tokens they got. Until then maybe, just maybe they should worry more about patching together the massive turd they have dumped on us with this launch and then later worry about who "exploited" those cracks. That they created. Not us. Them.
