Daily Play Token Bug & Exploit Farming

@Scofie maybe time to step in? This is devolving into a let them eat cake kind of discussion.
I say we put a freeze on this topic till we hear more from bcs.1 -
I have already received 3 fan favourite tokens today, and it's 9am.
I've probably only played 3 rounds, but I played one game before I had a shower. one as my computer was loading up, and one just now.
this isn't robbing a bank. this is me walking past the bank and the employees are stuffing $100 bills in my pockets, then complaining I have their money.

I'm just going to throw in an analogy here which people can choose to take or leave. If I'm walking past my bank, and my bank has been sending me weird letters and freezing my cards every so often, do I have the right to walk in to the branch and lift £1000 out of an open drawer because they left it open? Would people think it was reasonable for the inconvenience?
I'm with @entrailbucket on this - that digital good might effectively be free (as there is no direct cost to the devs), but it ripples throughout the game economy and makes some people "richer" through what is basically cheating.
If we are being honest about the analogy, it this:
The bank offers anyone who stands in line and comes into the bank $100 each day, just for showing up and standing in line.
However, the bank put in new clerks who don’t enforce the once-a-day policy, so anyone who leaves the bank and stands in line again will get another $100 the same day, as many times as want to stand in line.
The people who run the bank had foreknowledge the new clerks were inept but did absolutely nothing to properly train them, and employed them anyway, knowing the clerks wouldn’t enforce the once-a-day rule.
Rather than remove the clerks who are giving away the extra money they shouldn’t, they are opting to freeze the accounts of the patrons of the bank who came in more than once a day.
While the patrons may be taking advantage of the inept clerks, ultimately it is the bank owners who chose to have employees it knew wouldn’t be following the rules and who were giving away more money than they should.

You would go to jail for fraud, and the clerks likely would too.
This is not complicated or ambiguous at all.

That's because you have an unshakeable point of view.
You are sitting at the top of the tower looking down.6 -

I think your analogy is too simplistic. The weird letters are the Unity bugs. Ok I can relate to that. You relate getting in line at the bank to dealing with the bugs. In the current real world of MPQ that often means force quitting. But then I disagree with your analogy. You relate the next step as the user taking £1000 from a drawer. I think a better analogy is that someone is putting £1000 into my pocket when I get in line. I didn’t ask to have to deal with the letter. I just had to deal with it. And I didn’t take the money. It was given to me when I was forced to deal with the letter. I think that is a more accurate comparison to what is happening right now.
Edited for grammatical error.
I get what you're saying - but there's someone putting some cash in your pocket by accident (which is what resetting the game legitimately does) and then there's grabbing it and putting it in your pocket by the fistful.
And then there's someone putting cash in your pocket WHILE saying if it you let him do it some unknown arbitrary amount, he'll call the cops on you for pickpocketing. That's the message the players are hearing here from the devs.
I just switched away from the game to check the forums and guess what, the game didn't maintain it's state. The os apparently thinks it consumed too much resources and shut it down. So, if I go back and play again, I get another token. I've probably gotten double digits today. I'm not trying to exploit it! The game is just that **** broken. And I don't want to play for another **** month before they get around to fixing what never should have gone live in the first place to decide that month shouldn't count and they reset everything.

You are sitting at the top of the tower looking down. This has nothing to do with what I think. I don't care about the banks' money, and honestly ripping off a bank is probably a moral good in our current economic situation anyway.
You'd still go to jail, because legally you're committing fraud, and it wouldn't be a novel or controversial case at all.
Honestly if I've learned anything from this thread it's that most of you shouldn't be allowed to visit banks.

This is truly a masterclass in how not to handle a rollout, a product, or an “exploit.” Unfortunate.

It's actually exactly not fraud if it's their promotion to give you the money every time you walk in the door. If that's in the terms and conditions, it's not fraud. It's just a dumb loophole their lawyers should have stopped.
In the case of the game, no one's breaking any agreement or rules or terms & conditions by logging in, playing a match, and getting a token. All regular players do that multiple times a day.
The answer to stopping people logging in over and over to specifically get tokens? Simply stop giving them the token.
The fact that this brand new shiny game engine can't simply stop a token from going out maybe shows how limited the engine actually is, when it was supposedly going to let them do more complex things.

You could raise that argument in your appeal, while you're sitting in federal prison (hint: it's not going to work).
Seriously, I implore all of you to stay away from banks, ATMs, and possibly hamburger restaurants. It's not safe.

I take advantage of lots of bank and credit card promotions actually. And I read the terms and conditions. And that's why I know when you're following them, it's not fraud.

Or maybe they are culpable for releasing a known faulty product. If I choose to release something that is faulty consumers have recourse in the form of lawsuits…class action often. So they bear some responsibility for this.
In this case I want to play a game assuming normal play patterns in this position, if I play the game I might get too many of these rewards…I don’t know how many. I don’t know their metrics for what is acceptable or not. I do know that anything could potentially land me in hot water. So you are presented with two choices, play the game and maybe fall victim to something you have no control over or don’t play. Not playing is an option. Another option is for the company to take ownership of the mistake and rectify it. Maybe they have to pull the game for a minute and people can go touch grass. Multiple ways to look at this, mine is through the lens that they are handling it wrong.
Edited to add: not sure how
Much sense this made. Typed it while taking a break from mowing.3 -
So, if I start a bank, but my ATM becomes a sentient AI, did I rob myself if he hands out free money to strangers?
I'm very confused.

I knew I shouldn't have started with an analogy...
I read first post of the thread as "if you play the game normally, then you'll get a few extra tokens and that's fair enough. If you know the exploit and play in a massively different way in order to get tokens, your account will be rolled back".
I don't think that's unreasonable.
It's like any other exploit - you could argue that the code is the code, so if you break it and cheat, it's the code's fault for not being more secure. Or those people who deliberately crash their car to put in a whiplash claim. Just because you can, doesn't make it right.
And to put on here that you don't care and you're going to do it anyway doesn't seem incredibly bright...🙄

if the bug is so game breaking, shut it down until it gets fixed. otherwise, accept it as the cost of doing business

Much sense this made. Typed it while taking a break from mowing.I'm guessing they have metrics for player usage. If you, every day, hit one PvE easy node and quit a hundred times before breakfast, then I'm sure you're going to be fine. If it's the trend only since updating, I'm expecting that to be a different kettle of fish.

As long as devs can clearly say who is exploiting and who is not I‘m with you
But can they garantuee?
App is super unstable, every time i come here my MPQ just closes and restarts, I bet when I Return after posting this, it‘ll restart again
They just have to communicate clearly they got this

If someone could please direct me to the banks with the free cheeseburgers and with $100 giveaways, I think I could have a very pleasant day tomorrow.
I would be happy with one of each, to be clear.

I can't answer that, honestly. I can probably guess that there is a marked difference between those who are deliberately exploiting to those who are not. Even so, mistakes could be made?
