It's great at some levels of play and awful at others. Not sure what the solution to that is.

This isn't a mystery -- if you mostly have optimized supports and your opponents mostly don't, you've got a pretty massive advantage. You're basically playing PvE.
In fact, imagine the devs sticking Leapfrog/Eros Arrow/Copter/Car etc on every single fight in PvE, and you'll get a sense of what the rest of us are dealing with.

This can be one of 2 things. 1 you accept that I am the de facto forum manager or, 2 none of you can be bothered to engage with my childish drivel.
I'm picking option 1.As you can tell by my numerous non-comments to this comment, it was clearly option 2.
Oh ****. Does my response about my non-responses mean I am engaging with the drivel? I don't know anymore. I should just go back to lurking.

Almost every single team I come up against with Polaris has Leapfrog, in fact I'm surprised if they DONT have it now and it's funny that their own Jane rarely destroys it lol damn A.IIts frustrating because all of these frustrations could definitely be fixed with minor tweaks to characters' kits or have a mode where you can pick your own characters without supports but still earn continuous rewards.
This is sensible talk, and god damn it sensible talk will not be tolerated in my forums.

I see those same supports, especially Leapfrog.
It's clear some supports need rebalance in the same way some OP characters do too. But just because some supports need a rebalance doesn't mean supports need to go away entirely in PvP as is suggested. That's throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

Why can't we have both? PvP with Supports and PvP without Supports? Or at least mix it up throughout the Season event to event. We were promised careful testing and adjustments and we ended up with none of that. So to me the baby never even made it into the bath.

Oh no, I don't want them removed only from PvP. I'd much, much prefer them rebalancing supports overall.
Removing them from PvP just allows them to go on existing in PvE, enabling turn0 wins, and making most of them pretty useless (nobody even cared about Leapfrog until it showed up in PvP!).
I think supports can be an extra tweak or enabler for certain teams and strategies that otherwise wouldn't work. They can add depth to the game and give us more choices in the teams we run. I think they were a cool idea that just never got properly implemented.

Why can't we have both? PvP with Supports and PvP without Supports?
Why not both simultaneously and let players pick on a per battle basis?
You equip supports to your team as normal. Then on the pre-battle screen where you see your opponents team add a button/checkbox that says 'support enabled'. If you leave it enabled then supports are in the battle for both sides. If you uncheck, supports are disabled for both sides. Note on retal, the player gets to also pick supports enabled or not so you'll need to always have supports on your characters for retals (unless you don't care or maybe makes baking easier...).
Voila, you can used them as desired. Enemy team has leapfrog and you don't have an AOE, you can uncheck supports.

They probably don't offer that option because they want to sell us all supports, and supports are a big part of defensive teams -- far more important than they are on offense.
"Supports in PvP" isn't a problem at all, though. The actual problem is that the supports are either far too powerful and game-warping, or incredibly weak and never worth using. If we had more options, better counterplay, and (much) better balance between them, then there'd be no need for a setting to turn them on or off.
(BTW, if they're going to give us a setting for PvP, can I have a setting where I turn off supports in PvE? Nobody else can use them unless I'm using them! How would that work out?)

I reckon that someone took huge offence at his attempt at riding the coat tails of 2025 forum entertainer and became obsessed with him.
Hired a private detective, tracked him down and stood outside their house and did that unnerving point and scream from invasion of the body snatchers for a week straight. Soiling themselves as they were so committed to the cause. Then after this never ending mental torture they while sobbing like a child with snot and everything said they'd stop.
Or he moved on.
Hard to tell innit?Hello, AIFandango? This is Clem Fandango. Can you hear me?
I am not here to entertain, only to keep tabs on how my name is being used in public. My apologies to the forum for any disruption these false Fandangos may have caused, I do not control them.
I don't play this game, (only retro games here) but if I did, it sounds like supports in PVP would definitely be the right call.

I think they should introduce Affiliation-based PVPs with limited roster availability. Heroic PVP basically. That would shake things up and allow you to use different/interesting team combos.

Last year they did every year for the anniversary and you could only use characters released that year. The early years where the highest level characters you could use were 4 stars were kind of a drag, but now that I have all those characters ascended I thought it might be fun.

The problem with 'year ofs' is that a huge section of the player base is locked out. In a 10 plus year old game even players who've been playing for 5 years might not have anyone meaningful to use in years 1-5 and now that supports are in PvP they can't even use loaners unless they'd also allow loaners to use supports.

I think Heroic PVP combined with reducing the wins required for full progression would work. By reducing the required wins, people wouldn't feel like it was more effort to get the rewards they were previously getting by using whatever fast meta team they had before.

I don't see any difference between this and PvE essentials. In the current PvE, 3* Iron Fist is essential, and he's ancient.
The real problem with roster restricted PvP (or PvE, for that matter!) is that a ton of players don't even know how to play the game unless they're using the handful of most popular characters.
I remember when Thor/Okoye was the "meta," TONS of players just sat out during 3* Thor events, because they could not figure out how to play the game if he was locked out. It'd be the same for any event today without Polaris, m'Thor, Shang-Chi, etc.

The existing "theme" events really need to enforce lockouts too. Running "women of marvel" and every team is Chasm/Hulk (I think this happened, if not something very much like that) is not fun.

Well in those class of X you could ONLY use characters from that year. That's far different than a PvE where you have to use Fist but you get 2 other character of your choice (unless the suggestion just meant you needed the middle character to be from the year in question which would actually broaden team choices by adding dozens of characters per PvP).
You are not wrong that tons of players don't know or even want to know how to play without their meta characters. But that's part of this games appeal, that 'roster building / collect them all' is a perfectly viable reason to play even if the match 3 part is just an inconvenience for players who play for that reason. Similarly there are players like you who play for the fun of making team combos and crushing people in PvP. In other words they need to keep the game interesting for all types of players.

I like the Class of PvP events too and would also welcome the chance to see how my roster has come along but that would really be dominated by ascended characters. I guess though at some point there has to be an acceptance that the game can't always be 100% open to every player or those who skipped characters for meta only have to learn and adapt.

Loaners should be available to allow people to play. But all players should recognise that their way of roster building isn't always going to win everything without a bit of thought and adaptability.
To build on @KGB s point above, there are several ways to build a roster and play the game. I think each of those should be rewarded. Currently a shallow roster of meta characters is "better" for rewards than a broad range of lower level characters most of the time. The "Class of..." events tended to reward those who built wider rosters, because nobody was chasing Silver Surfer, OML, or Phoenix (pre-buff or post-buff probably) except those that wanted to champ them all.
