You don't need any special counter to beat Polaris/mthor. I beat them every chance I see them in pvp with whatever boosted team I'm using. Target Polaris first and she goes down fast from match damage even when she's 550.

Very rarely do they ever get a chance to do much. I much rather take on 550 polaris/mthor than 672 whatever the best boost team is

You generally can't kill her with match damage though, because they always have Leapfrog and she'll go invisible unless you burn all the charges right away.

I just try to have some kind of fast AoE or targeted board destruction, but it's annoying because you only have 3 or 4 turns before they'll cascade you for essentially infinite damage.

In my experience they usually don't have leap frog equipped, probably cause mthor will just blow up their own invisibility tiles.

That's crazy because we play the same slice (albeit at very different times!).

Probably 95% of the nontrivial fights I take have Leapfrog equipped -- even during events like Omega Red's boost week where it's going to do basically nothing for them.

I'm not sure if it's the only support they've got, or they're just afraid to not run it.

Probably the difference is that I start early and you play late. I get to hit alot of the people that don't care about pvp and only climb to maybe 700 or 800 points and don't bother to shield and never retaliate. You play at the very end when everyone who is still out are usually the people that care about pvp and are trying to climb.

You have no idea. This game had a little bit of a weird system from the beginning. Then the boost system started coming in and the support system started coming in. It's getting worse and the development team doesn't even seem to want to improve. It's either give up and leave or accept it

The Thor/Pol teams I see usually have leapfrog on Polaris. So much so, I just assume leapfrog when I see Polaris.

I'm always surprised when she doesn't go invisible on first hit.

Even at ascended 550 though invisible Polaris may be difficult to hit with match damage, but Ascended Namor doesn't care, or AoE. There are options, as you said.

Almost every single team I come up against with Polaris has Leapfrog, in fact I'm surprised if they DONT have it now and it's funny that their own Jane rarely destroys it lol damn A.I

Its frustrating because all of these frustrations could definitely be fixed with minor tweaks to characters' kits or have a mode where you can pick your own characters without supports but still earn continuous rewards.

We were promised that Supports would be integrated carefully into PvP but instead they threw the Supports hand grenade into the room and locked the door and went on holiday. It has been exploding ever since.

This one is a bit of a secret if you pair her with a tile maker against the Juggernaut/Sam team, or Polaris (or literally anybody if you stick her with Prowler)...

C'mon, you forgot she got reworked too.

My personal favorite was being told that individual events and seasons may have supports enabled or disabled. Except for the couple of class of pvps last year(and tbh I'm not sure if support pvp was a thing at that point) supports have never been turned off. Got added to shield sim and ruined that immediately. Hopefully the LRs get spared.

If it’s been exploding ever since I’d describe it more as an infinitely long fuse connecting an infinite number of sticks of dynamite.

I love supports in PvP and they've been great at level I play. Lots of others on here feel the same way at the level they are playing.

The problem as always is there are vastly different experiences depending on where one is. It's great at some levels of play and awful at others. Not sure what the solution to that is.

Magik is one of my fave characters but when would I ever get to use her outside of her own PVP event? Magik and the two goblins should have synergy with the tiles but realistically when would that team EVER work?

    Hi,
I saw this comment and, seeing that you are clearly a discerning individual with good taste, it pushed me to register for the forum after a few months of occasional lurking. I have good news and bad news for you if you want to use Magik in PvP. My team has mostly been soft capped around 330 for a while so take with a grain of salt but I do see the same MThor teams often, just at lower levels. The bad news is I don't see opportunities to use 5* Magik, but the good news is that 3@4* Darkchylde Magik is part of a team that I regularly use and can take down MThor/Polaris on average turn 2. The team mates? Purple Man and 3* Captain Marvel.

The match goes like this: Captain Marvel tanks 1-3 hits on turn 1. Generates red and black AP. Magik fires red to remove some enemy tiles and generate more black AP. Purple Man fires black to generate purple AP. Magik fires purple to generate black AP. Then you keep alternating between Purple Man's black and Magik's purple until the enemy team are all downed on turn 2.

In pick 2 you can do this without Captain Marvel, but it may more often take you to turn 3 to get the tennis going. Of course supports or boosts or a lucky turn 1 match 5 can make this a turn 1 team.

I am surprised a little that no one ever seems to mention or use Purple Man teams, I assume others have worked this out but disregard for either speed or defence reasons.

    Yup.

This is what was said by the Devs in that thread:

Now that we've had the weekend to sink our teeth into the inaugural PVP Supports enabled Season, let's start a thread dedicated to player feedback to ensure that we're able to make adjustments to the system that makes it enjoyable for everyone.

What's great? What's broken? What's borked? General thoughts?

There were 22 pages of feedback on Supports between July 2024 and January 2025 (not all of it on Supports as it strayed into PvP generally) and not once did they experiment with any different formats. If the winning argument was players love Supports then great but we reported what was broken/borked etc and the only thing we got was as you say an unannounced launch into SHIELD Sim! And then to top it off - we haven't had any new Supports for what, months? So they haven't even tried to fix it by having new Supports address the issues.

Oh well, new engine blah de blah blah. Is Kindle even fixed yet?

Invisible dynamite that triggered on turn 0 (or 1 whatever the end result of that debate was!)
